For the price point, there should be no flaking at all, no matter what other product I add to the routine. If it flakes with another product in the SAME line? then it's a no. I genuinely appreciate this review.
The white residue (flaking) is because the custard was mixed with a water based product. Hence oil and water does not mix (Chemistry) so if you use the custard with another water base like a leave in then your curls will not have the white residue
I used this product with a water based leave in after i realized i. didn't even need to add coconut oil to my hair b4 applying..many iterations of trying this product..n even when using the product by itself with my hair squeaky clean and clarified..i had flaking too...
My fro was hella soft n curls defined tho...
It was the ONLY drawback...

It’s the smoothie with the custard that causes the flakes. I had the same problem until I saw on the Mielle Instagram that the smoothie is supposed to be used as a styler, not a leave-in or moisturizer.
I don't know if it's just me, but pomegranate just screams Fall and Winter. Just imagine smelling this in your hair during the holidays? I'm so ready.

I use their leave-in conditioner with the twisting souffle and my twist outs are the best they've been in years. I was addictes to shea moisture coconut and hibiscus curl enhancing smoothie but not anymore. Other reviewers have noted using the leave on before the stylers work better ❤
I just used the curling custard yesterday paired with SM Curl Enhancing Smoothie and so far it looks pretty nice. No flakes for me, but then again I seem to be the only person who has never experienced flakes. The curls held up overnight too which is great because I have yet to master a good curl preservation system when I go to bed. Thanks for the review and love your videos as always!

Awesome review! My hair is 4b and very picky about what I use on it. The residue is from using to much of th custard. I have used Kinky Kurly Curling custard and the Camille rose. A little goes a long way but to minimize the flaking, I mix it with aloe vera gel. I hope that this helps. Your hair is beautiful as always hun

I bought the whole line and used the leave in, smoothie, and custard together and had zero flakes. Then like 4 days later I refreshed and added more smoothie and custard..and had no buildup or flakes still. Everyone has different hair tho even tho my hair is very similar to yours we had different results. I will say I also used some avocado oil both times maybe that made a difference...idk.
Lol sidenote I've been hearing whispers lol that it flakes tho on some other reviews I watched when it first dropped. Idk lol I love the custard, realllllyyyy love the smoothie and the leave in is good for me too so far. But my hair also loves their ginger honey gel too 💁 haven't used the twisting souffle yet tho or paired it with eco. I can only use the castor one or coconut one anyway bc the other ones make my head itch 😕

Girl, I bought the whole line too but for my wash and goes I use those three products as well with an oil. So I agree maybe the oil makes a difference.
I had an experience like that when I styled my hair with curls blueberry bliss leave in and the jelly........ so I feel you girl.

With these custards, you have to apply on SOAKING WET hair to not get any
flakes. I’ve seen people out this product on in the shower so I’m think that’s y u have the flakes. I also noticed that u can’t put a WHOLE lot of the custard on. You only need a little. I made that mistake with the Kinky Kurly products 😫.
Knekya D. I agree. Most of the time when I see flaking, it's not enough water and too much product and also many people don't seem to clarify their hair well. But I only do the Dickey method on soaking wet hair and I've rarely had a product flake in me.

I had the same issue with one of my pumps on one of my products by Mielle Organics as well. It frustrates me for a second until I just took the top off lol. But so worth it‼️🥰
Great review, it flaked in my hair too, some kind of terrible. I tried it again, layering with oil before the custard & sitting under the dryer cuz I didn't wanna air dry for a day, only to perhaps see flakes again, and that worked for me!!! I love the shine these products give, it's amazing. Your hair always looks fantastic regardless of what you use btw!

After careful research of your previous videos I realize that you could vaseline or just water and your hair would look great.

When I tried this collection I did a twist out with the curl custard, leave in and twisting soufflé and had no flakes. But I have tried the smoothie with the soufflé and eco with argan oil and I had lots of flakes and itchy scalp too. Now that I have seen your video i think it was more of the smoothie and the soufflé rather than eco since eco has never done that to me. But yess the smoothie does mix with eco very well.

I just bought these exact two products yesterday so I was so excited to see your review because I feel like your curl pattern looks a lot like mine and how your hair looks wet and dry before product looks very similar to mine. I also did this on dry hair and I didn't have any flaking but I added a little water before doing the "lotion." i also used the eco after the custard and I LOVE the results.

I used the leave in, smoothie & custard and I had flaking too, hun so it’s not just you lol I think the custard mayyyy work with just the leave in since it has a different consistency or it may be meant to use on its own, who knows 😂 The leave in mixes well with ecostyler but I returned the smoothie so idk about it lol I was in love with the movement I had with this wash & go but I wish it had a bit more hold & no flakes 😩 thanks for sharing, love! ❤️

I used the leave in/custard for the first time this past Friday and experienced major flaking as the days went on. Today my entire shirt was covered in white balls 😩 I was trying to hold out til Saturday(my wash days) but my hair is looking disrespectful
Leave-in and twisting souflee are excellent. The curl custard is probably what caused the flaking. I've heard hah consistently.
Do you know what you're putting on your skin? Mielle Organics claims they’re products are “All natural ingredients. no harmful chemicals or preservatives.” However almost all of her products contain Phenoxyethanol. Phenoxyethanol is a very bad preservative, and caused me and my daughter $1000 of dollars in doctors bills due to skin irritation, Phenoxyethanol is also linked to cancer and is banned in Europe and Japan for good reasons, its very bad for us. Avoid products containing this ingredient!!!!

i used the custard only and i did not need anything else...i love the custard. its worth every cent. my curls were soft shiny n defined. it does not weigh heavy in my hair. i shingled n it turned out great ok the custard is a keeper for sure 4 me. i love it . n will buy it again..😍😍😍 ur hair looks great. oh i loved the hold n i love how the custard gave me looser curls...overall the custard alone is bomb. i prefer it over c. rose because the C. rose product smell horrible 2 me . but it does work well when styling. but i 😖 hate the smell of it. but ur curls r soft n pretty. great video. next time try the custard only when styling without the smoothie n i think u will love the results. ur review of this product was spot on. overall the custard is amazing.

I used the leave-in with the Krystal ECO style gel, and I am in gel heaven 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 N.B. I have 4b/c low porority hair, so I tried just washing with shampoo and going straight to the leave-in. I sometimes just feel like the less stuff I use in my low porosity hair, the better.
Now that you've tried a number of products. Could you do a video on your top favorite products. Like your top five shampoos, your top five leave ins, and stylers.

This line does mix with the coconut eco. You should try the Twisting Souffle and the leave in conditioner. They are bomb! Also get your hands on that new As I Am Curl enhancing smoothie. It is bomb as well!!

First off why the heck are you so crazy!? When that "over the rainbow" clip came in I died! Anyway, you are so not crazy bc many of the wash and go videos I've seen w/this line there's major flaking. However, it seems as though when just the leave in, twisting soufflé, and custard are used there isn't any. Maybe bc the soufflé is so much heavier? Idk

I always cocktail the products before I put it in my hair, even if it's from the same line. The results were nice though.
I usually do as well if they're not from the same line. But, I feel like I shouldn't have to if they're from the same line 😫 lol and thanks love!

This line works better with wet hair!!!!!!!! Then blow dry or under heated cap to trap heat in to avoid flakes!
