Just bought a lido ET and would love a video demonstrating the “vortex” grinding method described in the instructions. Great video btw. You’ve got great looking products and I look forward to many happy years with my lido
Yo Mark, I just picked up an ET as well. These are two videos that I've found with Doug and Barb featuring the vortex method: With Doug, countertop vortex and voiced description while grinding: ua-cam.com/video/KzMOWX4nnfE/v-deo.html With Barb, on hip/thigh as described on the last page of the ET booklet: ua-cam.com/video/GgSltkPeT98/v-deo.html Best to you in 2021.
Enjoying your new videos! My Lido-E (well broken in) always has a bit of a rub at one point in the rotation, when you get down to the finer grind settings. This persists even after doing the procedure described here (though it may change). Could you let us know if this can be removed--or maybe it isn't a worry. I enjoy my Lido, and get nice coffee from it.
I have the same issue with a Lido-ET. Grind quality is consistent but there is a clear rub. Comes back after each realignment. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
@@TheAyrrow I've had my Lido ET since 2017 and there is a rub at the finer grind settings(even after many realignments). I have also Kinu M47 simplicity. The Kinu is far better aligned, grind faster and easier and also it is a breeze to adjust the grind settings, but the Lido ET win when it's come to the taste in the cup( I am using mostly medium to medium dark roasted coffee). So, my advice to enjoy your Lido i do not pay attention to the rub.
Only as often as you really need to! Air/brushing, and not taking it apart is generally enough unless your grinder has been used for other-than-your-preferred coffee.
Check to be sure the threads are clean - build up of coffee powder can limit the upper end of the threads, also, are you looking at the reference mark as zero, or the actual zero (where burrs touch) when measuring - as the grinder wears in, the true zero will move in the finer direction, so the reference mark no longer is actually at true zero.
@@orphanespresso Thank you, I did clean the burrs when I had it apart, but I was not sure I had it in the true zero position, so I took it back apart and turned the burr itself around, in case that would help, but tried it again this morning and it still came out like rock salt on the zero position and then, when I run it through a second time, it is drinkable, but any chance of a finer grind is out of the running, at least for now. I love the grinder and hope it lasts me ten years and beyond, but not sure what to do short of taking it apart and trying again. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you so much!!
Could I possibly send it to you at my shipping expense, both ways, to look at or, do you have anyone in the NYC area I could possibly contact to look at it?
I got a problem after reassembling my lido2, the adjustment is completely messed up. I used to use 20 notches (from the black mark) but right now even 10 creates an uneven ground with big pieces and tiny powder. The adjustment ring even drops down at about 24. I've watched all your video about lido2 but still can't locate the problem. Could you please check my video of my reassembling process at ua-cam.com/video/Hi4f6eVv2T0/v-deo.html and tell me what I've done wrong? Thank you so much!
Double check that the 'key' in the bottom of the hopper is in the matching depression that is in the burr carrier - if they are not matched up the alignment will be off, and can cause the uneven grinds you are experiencing.
@@orphanespresso I've checked and the key is in place but the problem is still there... Btw the gap between the adjustment ring and locking ring is 4mm when both rings are tighten up, is it usual? I'm not sure but the gap seems to smaller before.
My Lido 2 is about ten years old now. A contractor damaged it while working on my kitchen. This video saved me. Thanks.
So glad we could help! Thank you!
@@orphanespresso I ordered some parts to upgrade my old Lido 2 and picked up another preowned one.
I've had my Lido 2 since 2014 and it's still grinding beans at least 5 days a week. Superb engineering and construction, simple to service.
Same here, bought in 2014 or 2015, don't remember already. Worked for me just fine since there, until recently I upgraded it with Niche Zero.
Same here, had mine since 2015. This grinder will outlast me. Clean it out once a year or so and appreciate Doug's great videos when reassembling.
I have the Lido ET and I love it. This is a great video for helping me understand it a little better.
This is a nice update to your original alignment video. Thank you! My Lido 3 is on the way and I'm very excited.
I've used my Lido 2 for over five years now and it's still trucking along great. It's my most used tool I ever purchased.

Great vid, nice clear instructions. Opened up and cleaned my Lido E without any issues. Thanks!
Thank you for this. I have just recently received mine and I couldn’t be happier

@@TheAyrrow Ive read that this is fairly normal and as long as the grind quality youre getting is good then you shouldnt worry

@@RotomWash yes I get an excellent espresso grind. Very happy.
How often should I do a level 3 clean of my Lido E?

@@orphanespresso alright. Thank you for the response.
My Lido 3 can no longer make one full rotation from the zero point without detaching and the 0 setting grinds coarse. Any idea what has gone wrong?
