The game is receiving a lot of well-deserved mixed and negative attention from reviewers, and they could very well take that to improve this game or their future projects. But with that criticism is a growing online movement to defend this game at any cost, shouting that people are being unfair to this poor small group of developers and the bad reviews are too harsh. Hopefully the devs actually take the criticism in full stride rather than listen to this fanboy group that seems to be in denial about the state of this game, who got burned from their pre-orders.
Do single player "open world" games get that kind of overhaul much even in AAA? In the bethesda world, it's left to modders or not at all haha... Like, they've sold the game, it's done, they can take the money and run, any effort to "fix" anything would just be for the sake of reputation...
There's a lot of hate coming for this game, and rightfully so. It can be SUPER repetitive, but what is there, I would argue is enjoyable, wait for a sale, this game is probably only worth about $30, but having paid 60, I don't exactly feel robbed.
You’re saying that if a game fixed every problem, overhauled everything not good, added a bunch more features/content, changed the way the game works, scrapped the quests and completely rebuilt the story system, changed the writing and voice acting, and lowered the price it would be a good game? Yeah, I’d have to agree with you on that
Owlcat'sfirstgame was a 150+ hour crpg that basically blew the genre's contemporary titles out of the water in terms of scope and gameplay mechanics. It was rough around the edges, but was basically a critically-acclaimed and player-loved success. I guess we cant expect that from anyone
Why is Donald Trump pretty and I am not? But why does he only have a wife but I have TWO HANDSOME GIRLFRIENDS who I show off in my masterpiece YT videos? Do you know the answer, dear na
im just surprised out of everything, the combat isnt good, if they had gotten the combat real solid before release i feel the reviews in general wouldnt be as bad (since good combat can really carry a game if everything else is lacking quite often)
Combat was pitiful. Ranged was so overpowered, that I literally could win without getting hit while on the hardest difficulty and 3 levels below. Melee, in comparison, was so dog. You had worse damage, slower attacks, and the enemies would literally one shot you. There is no choice about how you play. Ranged or bust
@@DillonChichester Honestly, I don't believe you guys utilized the combat to the fullest. It's literally a mini DMC. I was going to put up a video, but you should catch "Game Breaker God" 's live streams, he does great things with Biomutant combat.
@@Flowtactics It really isn't DMC at all. DMC has more than 4 combos, and every weapon is different. Being able to combine ranged and melee on the fly without having to switch weapons. Being able to change your weapons mid-combat and even mid-combo. Combat styles that give alternate abilities and can also be changed on the fly. Animation cancelling. There is a lot more that makes DMC DMC than just a few combos. Biomutant is more like a beatemup with enemies that don't react properly to hits and sound design that does not properly convey impact.
@@ninetailedfox579121 Well I don't know what to tell you, Everything you listed you can more or less do in Biomutant. It might not be as impactful or fleshed out but then again DMC is a established franchise and this is a new IP. If you choose to mash ▢▢▢+△ and complain about combos, then more power to you.
So I gave Biomutant a shot after it was free this month on PS+ and I’m loving it. The customization is pretty crazy and the combat feels good to me. If you’re reading this you really should give it a try, I was expecting worse after watching this review a year ago.
This actually caught my interest when no other games of this kind ever did, and I was really looking forward to giving it a try. But... seeing how it actually is now, I don't think I'd even want to spend $30 on it, letalone $60. That's just insane.
@@evilovesperry Bunch of people in denial because they don't want to admit they were practically scammed out of $60, and they can't say anything negative because Reddit's karma system and community makes people afraid to have an opposing opinion. But I'm guessing you didn't even watch this video that goes into detail about *why* exactly other people are less supportive of it. As Cr1tikal said; if they're gonna put a $60 price tag on it, it should be judged as a $60 game. I'd also recommend reading the ~2,500 negative Steam reviews. There's a much higher degree of non-troll reviews there than on most other Steam games. People just generally feel cheated. Pointing to the Reddit echo chamber as "proof" that it's not a bad game in spite of everything is a very ignorant approach to the situation.
Remember guys. This is the dude who couldnt write one sentence without an edit. Which means he couldnt pass the tutorial on easy. The games fine. Grab it on sell at 40$. Its worth it at a discounted price.
I didn’t have any expectations for this game since the trailer. For me it looks exactly like Anthem and I said the same thing when I saw the trailer. This is and will always be garbage. Enemies are sponges that doesn’t react and they’re all the same, just with a different skin. A good game with a small team when it was released is Remnant from the Ashes, it is worth it.

@@ar.6968 I just think back to his video on invincible. His entire point was just that the show was violent. He never elaborates on what that means for the show. I’d say that it really adds an actual feeling of tension and concern for the characters as it early on shows the audience that it isn’t afraid to take away what’s precious to us. But Charlie’s point was just: wow it’s so violent. Elaborating without adding anything to that statement is just redundant. (I don’t mean to nag or anything I just really needed to let it out)

I have a hunch they made this game for literal toddlers. The story is on par with an episode of Teletubbies. If you ever watched it you'll notice they actually repeat the informative segment once within each episode, since the producer assumed the stupid kid watching the show can't actually process the things he just saw if you only show it once. I also like comparing the ham-fisted inspirational messages within the game to Dhar Mann videos.

I feel if this studio takes EVERY piece of criticism seriously, a sequel or an AGGRESSIVE overhaul could make it actually good.
I hope they overhaul it.. I want this game

Combat was pitiful. Ranged was so overpowered, that I literally could win without getting hit while on the hardest difficulty and 3 levels below. Melee, in comparison, was so dog. You had worse damage, slower attacks, and the enemies would literally one shot you. There is no choice about how you play. Ranged or bust
@@DillonChichester Honestly, I don't believe you guys utilized the combat to the fullest. It's literally a mini DMC. I was going to put up a video, but you should catch "Game Breaker God" 's live streams, he does great things with Biomutant combat.
TLOU 2 would beg to differ
@@Flowtactics It really isn't DMC at all. DMC has more than 4 combos, and every weapon is different. Being able to combine ranged and melee on the fly without having to switch weapons. Being able to change your weapons mid-combat and even mid-combo. Combat styles that give alternate abilities and can also be changed on the fly. Animation cancelling. There is a lot more that makes DMC DMC than just a few combos.
