Dog left behind by a homeless person by the freeway - she didn't move! 😢

- Brenda was so sad when her person disappeared. I will never know the circumstances for her owner's disappearance... maybe hospitalization, arrest, or even death. One thing I know for sure is that she was loyal and loved. She is a very cool Newfoundland, probably mixed with a Bernese Mountain Dog.

As an animal lover, you probably know that veterinary care is quite expensive, and with more funds we can save more lives. I got to her right before the police did, and I'm so happy we saved her from a trip to the shelter.

Someone left a dog across the street from us at a construction site. She didn’t move for days and it was 110 degrees. I finally got her to cross the street and she instantly became mine. She wouldn’t eat when I left for work, 3 days, and when I got home she was fine. We had seven beautiful years together before she passed. I wept for days.
She is now the best and beautiest guardian Angel you'll have 🤍

One thing I can assume is whoever the owner was took good care of her and and treated her well... she was so chill and friendly with you guys! You can tell she is a great doggo! EDIT: theres some sad people in the replies to this comment talking down about homeless people and just being plain negative. Hope you can have a more positive perspective in this world instead of just living everyday in anger.
@whatinth Newfoundlands are friendly dogs and they are very chilled dogs. They love water and going to swimming

@@littlebitofhope1489 He has decades worth of experience, I mean he is even running the non-profit rescue organization, and a founder if Im not mistaken, I think he is knowledgably and experienced enough to make a qualified guess.

I hope the homeless person who took care of her is okay. They don't usually leave their dogs behind. I'm glad she's getting a forever home.

The dog was well taken care of and loved. Homeless people will feed their companions before they'll feed themselves. Something must have happened to who ever loved her.

Homeless people usually care very deeply for their animals. He/she would not just have left her. Perhaps the police should be notified about a missing person. Brenda is friendly and in a good condition. Thank you for giving this lovely girl a second chance.

I agree, homeless usually will let their pets eat before them because it all the have. So maybe the dog knows to wait for him there or like you said something else happened. So sad

How terribly sad this homeless individual had to leave their last link of tenderness behind. You can tell she was treated kindly & fed as well as the owner could achieve. All the luck to both on their new journeys. ❤

This one really broke me, for both Brenda and the person who had to leave her. She was still looking up and down the street for her person as she got to Eldad's truck. I truly hope that they are safe somewhere, as Brenda is. 💔

Something terrible had to have happened to her owner since she looks well taken care of and is so nice and friendly. So sad for her, but she'll have a new forever home off the streets. ❤
a few years ago there was a terrible story about a woman camping in her car. the cops here are brutal and they towed her car and took her to jail. they kept her two weeks, she kept begging and telling everyone please please get her dog from the car. noboody ever did and they let her dog starve in the impound lot. that story still just crushes my soul

It's heartbreaking how she kept looking back and around for her human friend. Almost like taking a last look at the place where she saw him/her last and the last place of hope to find him/her. Their loyalty must be taught in schools to humans. I'm glad she was rescued. Thank you for your amazing rescues and endless care for the innocent voiceless angels on earth

Does anybody remember the police taking the homeless man's dog? It was all he had. That damn near broke me. Still bothers me. 😩
While I'm glad she is safe and will hopefully find a new loving home, this is a very sad case. I've helped a homeless person who had a dog and I've come to understand that most homeless people w/pets rarely leave their animal unless something has truly happened to them and most animals who are in this situation with the person especially dogs are VERY loyal and protective, they will like Brenda stay where they are left...... Thank you to all who helped Brenda's rescue.

Her person must be a good human being, he/she had been taking good care of her❤, hope he/she is OK.
Newfs are such loving and wonderful dogs. The true gentle giants.
My sister rescued Newfs and other giant breeds for years, and ive had the privlege of knowing so many if them.
I pray Brenda finds a great home, preferably one with kids. They don't call Newfs the babbysitter dog fir no reason.
Like most Newfies, Brenda is an absolutely gorgeous and sweet puppy. We need to work on helping the homeless so their best friends don't get left behind when they can't make it back to them for whatever reason.
I am glad she looks happy now among other dogs. Newfies are very sensitive dogs attached to their owners. We experienced this many years ago in a shelter where a newfie was sitting in his cage but turned away from the visitors and just waiting for his master. Very sad. We also adopted newfies and they need a year to adjust to the new environment. Thanks Eldad 👍😎🐕🦺🐈⬛
Yes, I hope it wasn't because the possible homeless person had to work. That would be heartbreaking to come back and find the dog has been taken away just like everything else.

She's in an amazing shape for being a homeless person's dog. She's fit, her fur is great and she was obviously groomed recently (and the job was decent!). Whatever the story was before you found her, Brenda was loved in her previous life. I hope she'll have an amazing forever family soon.

There are pet grooming places that will volunteer their services for the pets of people experiencing homelessness.
MANY homeless people's dogs are in WAY better shape & loved WAYYYY MORE than people with homes & even $$$$

I hope you left a note behind for her alleged homeless owner, who probably loved her, to let the person know she was safe and being cared for. Too bad we don’t have rescue services for homeless people.
I feel bad for both her, for losing her human … and also for her human who saw no other alternative but to leave her behind. 😢 it’s such a hard world out there.
No matter what anyone else says, I feel the same. Hopefully, her person would be relieved to know that Brenda's okay now.☮️
Why leave the Dog behind
@@coryburns9161 There could be many reasons. They might be ill and can no longer care for the dog. They might have been chased away by police or other people and can't come back. I am sure whoever left her, didn't do so willingly.

Most likely her owner got arrested after they left and was meaning to comeback but couldn’t and is probably hoping that she ok and that if someone has her. They’ll treat her well and love her. The person did an amazing job raising the pupwith the little they had. Thank you guys for all the things you do ❤

From her well cared for appearance, and the way she readily jumped into the trunk, it's clear that she was used to doing that and lived in a home, but was abandoned on the freeway by her owners and not by a homeless person! 😢

Please dont judge a person for leaving their dog behind. She was left in a very busy area and maybe her owner thought it was a good spot for her to be found quickly. Its hard enough to be on your own as a homeless person. Never mind trying to care for a large breed dog as well. Its a sad situation all around. She was obviously taken care of and the owner must miss her greatly. She looks like a wonderful dog. ❤ Thank you Eldad and team for rescuing this beautiful girl. ❤

I was thinking the same thing. If they are homeless they may not see it unless someone tells them about it. Hopefully the police or people who work with the homeless community can get the word out. I would think they could identify the person with the Newfoundland and let them know she’s safe, if that person is still alive.

Brenda's adorable and beautiful! She reminds me of two LA rescues I experienced: The first was 20+ yrs ago, a sm blk Chow mix I tried, unsuccessfully, to rescue on the 101, and that dog stays w/me; the second was a senior Newfie mix I fostered from W.Valley and named "Sadie" (also sometimes called "grouchy girl" for reasons I won't get into here, but she'd obviously had a rough life).😢🐾🌈
Anyway, thanks again to HFP and LAAR for saving and rehoming these dogs, through good times and bad, going on years now!💕🐾🏆
