- This is my guide video discussing everything you need to know about the brand new curse status in Spelunky 2. Great guide. One small thing to note is that you need a minimum of 2HP to get cursed by the pot, may not be too obvious.

Nope, there is a singular way to get cursed without taking any damage using a caveman, a broken arrow, and a ledge. This guy has a video on it: ua-cam.com/video/yEKoHPy3JuQ/v-deo.html
I've actually seen that video. It's pretty solid. A really creative method. I tried to figure something out like that myself and was unable before seeing this guys video. There are a ton of methods for cursing yourself actually all with varying results and difficulty. My list of methods in my video certainly isn't an exhaustive list, just a few that I found that are consistent, pretty easy to set up, and can be done pretty much anywhere at any time.

method 4. pick up the ghost pot. hold the ghost pot. stand in front horned lizard. get rolled into by horned lizard. pot breaks on impact, curses you. land somewhere differently than the horned lizard so you don't die.
That's definitely an option as well and it doesn't cost bombs to setup so it's a viable option too. There are actually several setups to curse yourself with the pot but I didn't want to include them all. I just focused on a few safe, easy and consistent methods that I've found. You can also get a web gun and shoot a web on a wall somewhere high up and then throw the pot into the web. Stand underneath it and the web will disappear shortly, dropping the pot on your head. Getting a web gun isn't very consistent though so I didn't include it.
@@utaushio5911 I think that simply getting punched by a totem while holding it will curse you as well, but not certain.
@Winterous I appreciate the suggestion! I actually tried that a few times and could never get it to work. The pot always just broke and I got punched but never got cursed. Maybe there's another piece of that puzzle I wasn't setting up quite right but I wish I could have gotten that method to work.

Basically the joke is that the video is about the cursed status and this comments complains about a lot of cursing in the video. The joke is that the commenter does not mean cursing as in speaking with vulgar language but means that there is a lot of people getting cursed in this video
You can actually get into the gist shop without a curse, but nothing spawns there except a dead caveman. Didn’t know this was a thing in this video, so finding just a random dead caveman slightly worried me.
The caveman: I died, what i gonna do? oh, i know, i will open a store only for the cursed people

Tip: if you destroy the body in the ghost shop, the ghost disappears. (you can use the ice gun, machete, shield..)

Great video man! I’m most def gonna check out all your vids. Very well done and sick strats. Not sure I’m ready for cursed runs as I’m still grinding to get past 2-x lol. Just gotta keep grinding I guess. Feelsbadman when you have 8 plus hearts and one wrong move kills the run.
You can also curse yourself by just run into an arrow or tiki trap while holding the ghost pot
Yeah those options will work for sure. I really appreciate the feedback and information! There are a ton of super creative ways to curse yourself that I've seen but for the sake of efficiency and to be concise I only covered a few methods in my video that I find to be consistent and easy to set up
at 1:39 the pot will drop a diamond but a diamond isn't always $5,000. As the game progresses the value of diamonds increases.
I'd have to double check on this to be sure but I thought the diamond that comes out of the cursed pot specifically was always 5000

if you take fall damage while holding a pot you get cursed too. a bit easier than your methods but it does require you to have 3hp. also I think getting shot by a dart trap while holding a pot in front of you can curse you although I'm not sure.
You can also just drop on the ghost pot to get cursed
here's a little correction: kali cures your curse at 16 points, not specifically when sacrificing a pet when at 8 or more, unless axolotls count
Yeah you're totally right. I did a bit more research and figured that out after making the video. I've got a complete Kali altar guide video coming out this week where I make that correction to myself. Thanks for the input!
@@utaushio5911 Love the vids! I'm still confused on this though after watching both your vids. Can you only cure curse via sacrifice if you're stillunder 16 points? So if you already have kapala, it's no longer an option? What if you have kapala, destroy an altar, and then sacrifice 4 pets to get back up to 16 a second time?
@@fantaseedude hey thats a totally fair question. Im sorry for any confusion I caused. You actually CAN repeatedly cure yourself by sacrificing at altars if you should happen to get cursed again. In my video I only mentioned it curing you the first time but you can actually keep sacrificing to cure. Every 8 after 16 I believe will cure you again. If you destroy altars and drop back down you will have to get back up to 16 points again to cure. Thanks for the question!
Another way is to set the hhost pot below a punch trap hang on to the punch trap and fall on top of the ghost pot

That skull that the witch doctor spawns is not easy to dodge in some enviroments
Like for example if a witch were to block a jump over some spikes by simply standing there you have to hope you have something to attack it from afar or risk getting cursed
You forgot to mention that the cat mummy creates two small horizontal gusts of wind on either side when it dies than curse anyone caught in it, so whipping it is not advised.
I would cry if I got a webgun powerpack combo in the shop

I love your guides, but i am often stuck in certain worlds, just because i dont understand the ai of many monsters. How about an alalyze of the ai from cavemoles, witch doctors, movepatterns of untamed mounts, jumpdistance of the zombos in tide pool, and the movepattern of ufos? There are many more, but these are the complicated and most useful in my opinion.

I'm glad you're enjoying the videos but I'm sorry you're feeling so stuck in certain levels. Spelunky is definitely a difficult and unforgiving game so it can be really frustrating when everything is super deadly. An analysis of monster AI and move /attack patterns is a super good idea. I promise I will add this to my list of videos to make although it might be a little bit before I can get to it since I have a lot of other videos in the pipeline at the moment. In multiplayer does only one person have to be cursed to enter the shop?
Is their a reason why the second cursing strategy wouldn't work every time cause I can't see why it wouldn't.
Pretty good tutorial I just wonder how you found out about the elixir curing curse. I found out the elixir cured curse via guessing after reading the journal entry for it say it would cure anything and when I looked up some IGN article said you couldn’t. Also I have a request to make on next video or just experiment but I saw when I had got the ghist shopkeeper entry that you can kill it and when I looked it up I could not find anyone who knew how so could I ask that you try to test it out (I don’t have any ideas but I tested whipping it and bombing it but on my third test I failed to be able to throw a torch at it but I guessed that you may be able to kill it via ghost pot or maybe poisoned arrow which you can get by throwing through a scorpion and poison snake which have a chance of appearing out of a pot).

@Adin Marshall Yeah I just assumed the elixir would cure both curse and poison based on the description and so I went to test it out. It took me several tries to finally get the result but after playing a bunch I was able to prove that elixir does cure curse! I really appreciate your question and feedback as well! As for killing the Ghist Shopkeeper I haven't heard anything specific about how to kill it but I'd be more than happy to experiment and do a video on it! @TheMentalMan has commented that the Ghist shopkeeper can be killed with the camera which could very well make sense given how the camera interacts with other enemies as well as the actual ghost. I'll be sure to test it out and get some confirmation one way or the other!
Thanks, it does make sense that a camera would work I just don’t usually pick it up because I rather take a ghost pot but I heard you can use it for freezing the ghost which would be useful for money ghost stats so maybe I should start using it more. See you in a kea

Doesn't the Cursed Mummy Cat also give off a puff of curse when it is defeated by any means? Or is that just a visual effect, and I've been paranoid about it...?
if you kill it and you're too close in front or behind it, the puff will curse you.
I’ve found that the best way to get cursed is to use the punch traps and get knocked onto the pot.
Yeah that idea definitely works. There are actually a ton of really creative ways to curse yourself. Using the punch trap or arrow trap to curse yourself does mean you have to have at least 3hp though so if you only have 1 or 2hp you're out of luck. I decided to just cover a couple strategies in my video that are pretty easy to setup consistently and don't damage the player too much

Another easy and safe way to curse yourself that doesn't require a bomb is to get a web gun. Throw the ghost pot into the web making sure that it is at least 1.5 ish blocks above ground (the ghost pot will not break when it falls less than a single block length) and wait below the pot. Contrary to natural webs which last indefinitely, web gun webs fade out after more or less 10 seconds which will result in the ghost pot falling on the player's head cursing the player.
This is an awesome suggestion. I really appreciate the input! The web gun trick works fantastically and is super safe but I didn't include it just because web guns are sometimes hard to come by and aren't guaranteed every run. A lot of people have been sharing alternate methods in the comments though which is fantastic and much appreciated because it helps provide more information to viewers that I couldn't necessarily get to in the video!
Stupid question: Aside from the shop in 1-4, what's the benefit of getting cursed? You mentioned the true crown, is that it? (also, there were no Kali's favor video link in your video...)
Hey that's definitely not a stupid question. Aside from the Ghist shop on 1-4 and getting the true crown after destroying 3 altars there isn't any other benefit to you being cursed. You can still curse some enemies which might be beneficial and I'm sure people might try to do challenge runs beating the game while cursed or something but those 2 benefits are really the only reason you would want to curse yourself on purpose. And I'm actually still working on the Kali's favor video at the moment. It will be done in a couple days from now and then I'll be able to add the link into this curse video.
I'm pretty sure you can also find "ghists" (not shopkeepers) above some random caveman corpses here and there. As far as I know, they're only there for the journal.

You can also remove curse by killing hired hands with weapon.

I’ve done it, found out about it trying to get ghist in the journal for the achievement. They spawn when killing hired hands while cursed.
Another way to get cursed is to throw the pot above you and let it hit you.

It's pretty rare, but if you could get your hands on a cursed pot I don't see why it wouldn't work just the same in real life

You're 100% correct! You can still get the Kapala while cursed, it will just be useless to have until you can cure yourself!
@@utaushio5911 And the fastest way to uncurse yourself is to get 16 favour points with Kali, which would give you the kapala anyway. Doesn't sound very helpful.
@@pairot01 if you cure your curse by getting 16 favor it delays the kapala reward so you dont actually get the kapala until 24 favor points

@@seniorvenusdigital3904 Yeah I just saw a video recently talking about it. The ghost is the Empress which is King Yama's wife and we can see that when you snap a picture of the ghost with the camera. Unfortunately I didn't learn this until after making the video
