22 years in the auto industry and it still BOGGLES my mind that there are stores and manufacturers that sell the thermostat without an included gasket. I've been burned by this SO MANY times.
The good news is that you told her up front that it was going to fail, it was just a matter of when. It’s unfortunate that it happened, but it was always going to happen. Good on you for honoring you word.
Got a saying in the army: Do it right, or do it twice. Lesson learned, not just for Matt, but for myself as well. I'm not a mechanic, but I do work on my own car. When I do I just want it to be over with, so I know my day will come when I have to do it twice.
What's up Matt just wanted to give you a shout-out all the way from California.. I work at AutoZone and I'm going to be honest.. when I first started all I knew was the basic stuff but I have learned so much from your Channel which I truly appreciate it. ps you should definitely make some merch saying here's the deal lol I will definitely get some hoodies and shirts off of you. Thank you for the knowledge and keep up the great work Buddy👍💪
People usually are understanding as long as you make it right you will do more than I knew better next time so happy customer and you schooled yourself on this chapter!
HEY!!! It's my favorite cutie customer. Its' awesome that Matt did the right thing and fixed it correctly with the proper gasket. It's only a bonus that she gets to be on his channel again. 🥰🥰🥰
You should link up with Matt and Her ASAP… Find a broken down van or bus and help Matt repair it , then follow up with test drive and Bang Bus Video … Whip you junk out for Matt and say -‘No , you Check THIS OUT’
This was the one video I watched that you did that I was a little dissatisfied with. I was like c’mon man you should just ride up the the store real quick and get it. But at least you came back and redid it the right way anyway.
I like the internet mechanics. I had one tell me she could write a book about the car. I told her it needed cam position sensors. She goes "what's a cam? " lol I guess the book skipped that chapter 😅
Me: Nah that rear main seal is fine after doing a headgasket Those clutch plates looked solid That torque converter just worked yesterday No I'm not dropping the trans again to replace that servo They call it a lower plenum gasket because it sits low. If you don't see it, that leak didn't happen When 90 percent of the front brakes are worn your rears convert to 90% of your stopping power
If it was my personal car I would've just put a smear of silicone sealant around the seal like I did with my car. If I was doing it professionally I would replace the seal in someone else's car,in Australia you're more of a Barry Parker, not that Steve Parker mechanic who would've charged her again !
Damn well I guess I was wrong too because I left a comment on the original video saying i guarantee you're going to be ok reusing it. Shoot it probably jinxed you. That definitely blows tho, but hey now you know forsure that its not good to reuse them LOL
The new thermostat you installed didn’t come with a new gasket so you used the old one but you said ahead of time you would have to come out and replace it. 😂
I'm glad you took care of the customer on this job, I just hope if you have to run out and get a gasket on a different job where the customer bought the part and it didn't come with the gasket, you would charge the customer extra for your time repair.
@@jasoncaine2600 that's the point I'm trying to make, the customer should have checked the box, if they are in charge of buying the parts, if I'm buying the parts then I'll be in charge of checking to make sure everything's there
You handled it correctly great job keep up the great content and work. But No way the rubber failed like that unless it wasn’t centered correctly which is RIDICULOUSLY easy to do so no big deal.
I remember watching the original video and I knew you knew you shouldn’t have re used that o ring. The inconvenience for the woman with the car is the only thing.
He admitted his mistake many times in the video, warrantied his work and clearly stated he’s learned from this mistake. I see no bad business here even the customer seemed beyond happy with the repair so your comment is invalid.
What's cool is you actually told her about it.
Youre a good guy, thanks for helping everyone, even if it means coming back out to do the job twice!
The best mobile mechanic on UA-cam!
Hands down
Damn, there's something new. Someone actually takes responsibility for his actions. Nice job! To bad others don't.

..that’s how they get repeat business..
this is why i always check the box before i buy it. If i order parts online, I always read the reviews first
You would think you would have learned by now, duh
Just experienced this. 😢 autozone then to o’reilly
Cheap and honest? A mechanic with both those titles are a rare find now a days
I knew this was coming the second you said I should just go get it but ima just reuse it ur still the man for returning and making it right
So cool to see a person of excellent character.
You are a mentor for so many young people.
Keep up the great work.

She cracks me up, I can see why you reused the gasket 😆

It's only bad if you werent expecting it to happen. lol. But you knew it was coming.
just watching random videos of yours and i’m realizing how many buicks u deal with🤣💯
Good video 👍
That was fast. You tried what you could do! Now a days the ring is sold separately I found out the same way! Keep the vids coming we love it

You look like Deacon St John from Days Gone🤣🤣🤣more or less
Always keep RTV silicone on hand. You'll never be without a thermostat gasket again.
The Honey Moon is over..... AIN'T IT JUST AIN'T IT 😜 lols.... only joking.... I've watched you enough to know you are giving your best....
Best and easiest engine to ever work on and to be built. Gm 3.8l 3800 series 2 and series 3 v6 literally bulletproof
My AC Delco Tstat comes with the O-ring....
Great job brother
The thermostat gasket. 🤠
These engines are good with fuel treatment from Autozone from Lucas racing lubcration and oils
New gasket laying on the concrete. Catching sand. Gasket maker. That's cool.
Here’s the deal, you’re a great mechanic
He's got your back!!😂
Its definitely a hard job to keep it cool
I remember this one hahahaha..

Can you elaborate on what you meant w/ the serpentine belt and how you didnt know about it for the first few years of being a mechanic?
SO HERES THE DEAL!!!!!!

I like that ole girls personality shes cool asking if you needed any help I need a woman like her. But ill stick with the ole blowup doll lol
No gasket maker with a rubber gasket like that

Need a preashur tester, u can check it with out it even getting hot
Mobile mechanics don’t do warranty lmaoo. It’s good that you do
I think she is soo beautiful

For what ever reason my water pump and oil pump is running off the timing belt.
Where can I send you a package so this young lady can keep her steering wheel clean
Yup
Kind of shady installing it that way to begin with. What if they had taken a long trip they didnt tell you about?
why dont you record in 16:9 then shrink it to 9:16 for tik top by cropping the outer edges ?
That’s not what warranties are for but at least you admit you were wrong. What if she lost all of her coolent while on a road trip?
He told her it was gunna happen straight up. If she was going on a road trip that would have been the time to mention it
From a pin hole leak? Most people wouldnt total their car, just to make their mechanic look bad. Mamas boy with daddy's money huh?
DAD answer my text messages
I remember that lol, good shit for lookin out tho
I would say come back to get an extra 15 sec. Fame, now it’s 30 sec of fame lmao
Jk jk jk
I remember u syaing you’d be back out so dumb should’ve just ran to auto store and got it same day smh
