We all know Chris Ward as the loveable rogue who surfs as hard as he parties, but there is a lot more to the California native's story than just a lot of charging and raging. As a teenager, Chris stormed out of San Clemente, a hotbed of surfing talent, and onto the world’s stage. His surfing was electric, progressive, and far ahead of its time and he was equally radical out of the water as he was in the ocean. His life took a dramatic turn, though at 19 when his father was diagnosed with brain cancer and his girlfriend got pregnant. All at once, 'Wardo' had to grow up in a hurry.
