As soon as I read that review regarding ‘the best episode’ not being the best episode, I was instantly springing from my seat saying, ‘No! Heaven Sent is GOOD!’
I watched Episode 1 of the 2008 series today, on W (British TV Channel, used to be called Watch), the Adipose story.Quite a lot of nostalgia for a Doctor Who era that I grew watching
I'm suprised their weren't many 10th doctor episodes. I personally think heaven sent is a great episode. However i personally think midnight and blink (possibly waters of mars) are weak episodes even though their known as greatest episodes.
I loved the Zygon Invasion/Inversion, up until the great speech which i hated. Then found out nearly everyone loved. I watched it again and liked it more. Then i saw it a third time and rehated it.
It is funny when you can tell when one of these reviews is just like "oh no they had an opinion on something that I don't personally agree with!" and then start trying to come up with some vague justification for why that makes the writing bad. In this case I'm guessing that somebody played a little too much Call of Duty...
You know -- much as I love Heaven Sent and think it's one of the best pieces of TV ever made, I do kinda agree with one part of that second criticism... there's a big part of the -- let's say mechanics -- of how the story is revealed to work, that does tend to fall apart as soon as you look closely at it. But the thing about that story is, it's the kind of story that doesn't need to make complete sense in order to make its point, because it ultimately is all about subverting that idea that the story is building up to "the Doctor figures out what's going on and stops it with a clever plan" anyway. Because while the Doctor figures out what's going on, all right, he only finds that he's still so powerless that the cleverest thing he can do is to punch a rock. The exact mechanics of how that comes about aren't terribly important except inasmuch as they take up screentime, in order to build that expectation, so that it can be subverted. The criticism might be true, but I'd argue that it doesn't take away from the story.
I don’t agree with this (though I’m not personally a fan of most of the modern show as opposed to the imo far better classic show and VNAs/early-mid big finish) but people have been saying that DW is dying since series 6. There have been legitimate reasons for that the whole time as well. The show is made by people who are all in the same circle of writers and are far too lazy with routine and with their ‘clever’ twists. Again I don’t think the show is dying but the complaints are fair and shouldn’t be treated as though they were specific to recent years.
Thank you for having me on the channel! Twas great fun!😂🎉

I’ll agree with you on Water of Mars, at least. The ending just pisses me off
Asylum of the Daleks was a great episode
I'd have picked the soundtrack any day
Crispy needs to do a video on Torchwood cos it does connect to Doctor Who and it is in the Who universe

But a lot of people have been only saying this in recent years
@@marinettedorien8236 I distinctly remember people being ‘done’ with DW in 2011
