Few days ago, on October 5, was International/World Teachers' Day.
Since Korean Unnie is our beloved teacher, it's in place to congratulate her this special occasion. Despite the two-day delay, Happy Teachers' day, Unnie!! Thank you for being patient with us and committed to everything you do. Over time many things and assignments have accumulated you need to finish on a weekly, or daily basis even, besides youtube, so thank you for being here despite being busy, and for taking the time to teach Korean in a way no one else can!
    예쁘게 설명해줘서 감사합니다!

These vowels are based on yin and yang.
    ㅏ or ㅗ : yang (bright side)
ㅓ or ㅜ: yin (dark side)
    So these vowels could only be yangyang (ㅘ , ㅙ ), yinyin (ㅝ , ㅞ ) or yang neutral (ㅚ) and yin neutral (ㅟ)
    우와 wow
    왜? Why
외 [attach this at the front to show that the family member is from the mom's side] eg. 할아버지: grandpa ~> 외할버지: ông ngoại
워워: woah woah (like telling someone to calm down)
    Continue from 15:32

A good way of remembering the yin/yang comparison for stick placement would be a clock face. Up and left match, so they are 12 and 3. Down and right match, so 6 and 9. Just go clockwise and pair them up in their twos.

Hello, italian student here (I discovered your channel through Seoul Mafia!). I just wanted to leave a really positive feedback to you because I've just finished watching all the "master korean alphabet" series and it was so helpful! I got interested in the korean alphabet some time ago and looked for it on the internet, where I found some "syllables charts" with the romanization and also tried to understand it from the romanization of k-pop songs, but that made me so confused, especially when I noticed that it sounded different while listening to korean people speaking/singing. So I decided to watch all of these videos and I'm glad I did it: your lessons were very clear and easy to follow and your positive and energic attitude made the whole thing even more enjoyable! My goal, for now, is just to be able to read, write and understand the sounds when other speak, but If I'll ever decide to keep on learning korean properly, I'll make sure to check your other videos, too!
That said, thank you for providing these video and have a nice day!

우와 ~ In school i thought when meeting some teachers it was quiet boring but I like 언니의 classes as she teaches not only Korean fun but also other things which I really enjoy to learn.
Before I was really confused with these vowels but now as 언니 teaches with 'yin yang' it really helped me (◍•ᴗ•◍)
Thank you 언니 your the best teacher~♡

In German language we actually have an ae character, its called ä and is distiguishable from e. You use the clean e in Berg (Mountain) and the ä in Käse (Cheese) - while the e in Käse is often pronounced like 어 in Korean

Thank you so much for giving us Mastering Hangul in Three Months and Twenty-seven Days!! :) :)) (sorry, could not resist!) I first learned Hangul back in 1984, when the vowels that now sound the same sounded different, but you still taught me a good deal that I did not know before and I do appreciate that immensely. I think I do understand why a stupid man can LEARN Hangul in 10 days but a wise man is just ACQUAINTED with it in a morning. Sure, you can use it to write pretty fast but all the subtleties and the why's of structure have so much depth to it.
One of the things that I learned was related to ㅅ. When going from English to Hangul one of the things we are told is that the letter represents an "S" or an "SH" and to our ear, that is what we hear. So for more than 30 years I've been saying it as those two sounds; either tongue up near the juncture of the palate and teeth, slight space between, air asperated out or tip of the tongue curled a bit further back to get the SH sound. But when you taught ㅅ you mentioned that it was a dental, with the tongue touching the bottom of the top teeth. Well, I watched my wife say some sounds such as 사 and 샤 and sure enough, there was the tip of her tongue down at her teeth, about where it would go for a "TH" but not held by the teeth. And it was in the same spot for both sounds; with the vowel forcing the change between "S" and "SH". Later that day I was trying to make the sound while driving but could not get it, and then it dawned on me - ㅅ has no asperation mark! So I began again, tongue down there, no asperation - and started to hear the difference between the S/SH and ㅅ. It was majorly cool, let me tell you! And oh yeah, told my wife to bite the ㅅ and she can now say things like this and that rather than dis and dat. So thanks for that too; Korean Unnie who makes learning English fun and easy.
That said, I'm wondering if at some point, could you cover exactly how the Korean sounds are made? I mean it is easy to see the tongue between the teeth but how does one see where the tongue goes for ㄹ? I know it is not "R" and it is not "L" but where is it exactly? That's one that can't really be seen. Others say "Oh, if it is at the start of a word or the end of a syllable it is "L" otherwise it is "R" but it is not that at all. That is at best an approximation. I've also heard use the Scots rolled "R" (which I can do) but do it with an "L" and don't roll it so much... that is also an approximation and it fail miserably. I know I'm asking a lot and understand if you can't do it, but I really hope you can.

The reason I learned about the combined vowels was cause of around episode 306 I think of Running Man, when they had to find the letters of their name, and Kwang Soo was allowed to combine the vowels to make the wa. 😁
