  • Here is a basic video on how to add and create your own custom kit. A basic starter walk around.
    Please, I only do these videos to help. A lot of people are on the fence about buying the kit because of all the issues when the first batch hit. I am one of them.
    Even with the firmware upgrade there are still issues, and from what I have seen, I am sure Alesis will continue to supprt the Strike pro since it is now their flagship Edrum kit..
    My take,, I love it. Am I 100% in love,, not yet, .
    so please don't post stupid remarks or give me a thumbs down ,, no reason to. If you have nothing good to say or ask then do not post.
    I will answer whatever questions I can. thanks
    and of course I do not make any money from youtube or Alesis has not endorsed the video.
    but I do have a little side business that will get you all the movies, TV shows and more. So check out my own website www.lonnytv.com

    Thanks for the great video. I would love to see a demo layering sounds and maybe using your own samples/loops for that as well.

    Hey Lonny! Video helped out a ton!! the only issue I'm having is how do you get it to where the cymbals don't cut out on the sample when you upload this?

    Very much appreciate this. How is the kick drum? Does it move around a lot?
    Also, I've been told that sometimes gets random triggers. Is that happening? Thanks.

    • @IIllytch321nonadinfinitum
      @IIllytch321nonadinfinitum 7 років тому +3

      If you set the stand up correctly for the kick drum (two swinging arms that adjust the angle of the backrest along with two extension arms that can dig into the carpet or whatever) you'll have no issues. Unless it's on a flat, smooth surface like tile or something. Probably not recommended if you can help it, heh.
      Regarding the triggers: Even before they released the update I had no issues with this, although it did take patience and time in order to get the pad settings tweaked just right. The pads getting triggered randomly occurs for a few reasons. One, because of the proximity of the pad to some other pad and whether the vibration of the pad that's hit subtly imposes upon a different pad. This can happen if, say, the two lowest toms are really close to each other and the way you have them attached to the frame causes some wobbling (some wobble cannot be helped), leading to a lot of wobbling and possibly causing a nearby pad to trigger due to the wobbling. Make sure the frame is set up as even and as secure as possible to help avoid this. I even used a tape measure to make sure the heights were on point as to keep the wobbling to a minimum.
      The other reason is digital. This is largely due to the "threshold" setting being too low. If you put it at 0, some pads trigger infinitely (at least for me). Simply raising it to a minimum of, say, 4 or 5 fixes that quick. Now, as for the aforementioned wobbling and vibration from a struck pad that causes the triggering of a pad that isn't supposed to trigger, this involves some finesse, as each individual strike on a pad creates different vibratory dynamics throughout the drum set. For example, if you hit the smallest tom, it vibrates very little given it is very light, and is thus less likely to lead to troublesome vibration in other pads (although cymbals might vibrate as they tend to be a bit prone to doing so depending on how you have them set up). But if you hit the largest tom, you'll see, given its larger weight, it will tend to cause substantialy more vibration throughout the set. Finding those pads that tend to create more vibration will isolate which other pads tend to be triggered erroneously (as they tend to be dependent upon each other to some degree, meaning one pad will tend to always cause one specific other pad to trigger when the "threshold" is too low). When you find such a pad that triggers inappropriately after a different pad is struck, simply increase the "threshold" slightly for that pad and strike the other pad again, until it no longer triggers erroneously. This is what I did and it did take some time. Maybe half an hour to an hour for the whole set (the non-Pro model would be quicker as it has fewer pads). I'm a bit of a perfectionist (I don't recommend that lifestyle for anyone lest you lose your mind at a young age).
      As for the "cross-talk" settings (for both send and receive), I actually set all these at 0 and managed to fix all the erroneous triggers just using the above steps. I have a feeling cross-talk settings are for very special cases, of which I am ignorant.
      P.S.
      Install the update from Alesis before doing any of this. I actually did it before I knew it was available for download. When I installed the software update, it erased all my fine-tunings and I had to do it all over again, heh.
      Peace.

      IIllytch321 now out of nowhere I get the snare triggering very low with me not even near the kit nothing to vibrate and yes this is after the update and a week later guess I will increase the threshold up

    • @IIllytch321nonadinfinitum
      @IIllytch321nonadinfinitum 7 років тому +1

      Yep, as I mentioned to sotanodrums, increasing the threshold just above the point at which it stops is what helped me in that particular situation. Assuming the snare pads we have are similar in quality (in terms of minute imperfections and the like), I'll bet the threshold for your snare is set between 0-7.
      We'll see if I get the audio/video editing down and start uploading something here soon, especially now that I'm done with college (for now at least, I'll see about earning a PhD after a year break).
      Peace.

    Hi Lonny, I did that already but when I turn off and on my module everything remains blank . What should I do?

  • @oukilidoukiliproduction9726

    Hi. I try it and I have a problem. Normally I name a new drum set. eg "dumbass" and I put all the tools in it, but when I go away from it and come back, the "dumbass" set is empty and it's not saved at all. I don't know what to do about it. 😭😭😭

    Hello Lonnie, I have a question about the start screen of the Strike Pro? In the screen I see that alle the toms and crashes have a name. In my screen its just a drum kit without names. How and why my screen is blank (just the drum kit without the names)
    Please can you help me out?
    By the way, I use not the Alesis drum kit, I use a Tourtech

    Could you make a video of some playing with audio recorded directly from the module out and not from a PA? I'd like to here the kits in real quality by someone who can play. And many would appreciate it. I'm sure most people are tired of that Texas Tim guy. His playing sucks.
