I must applaud the dedication to the dweeb asthetics for so long, when i first stumbled up on this channel i thought he'll do it a few yrs max, then just do normal face or no face, but i was wrong. I wonder if thats a whole shirt or just some fake over long sleeves~
I believe he (if TechDweeb really was a "he", and not a "she" or even... "it") has at least one long black & orange striped long sleeved shirt to wear for a couple moments while recording, since we can see a skinny person's torso on some shots, as when doing the funny DK dancing while testing audio on many of these devices, BUT sometimes i also put the practical thoughts aside wondering too if it wasn't just sleeves at most parts, so avoiding the the nuisance of need to wash and dry things with time to the next recording on the frozen lands of wherever TD lives.
@@NicolePastore-c9p No, they actually play perfectly even in higher resolution. Most UA-camrs have just been framing it as a device you should get exclusively for playing GBA games.
The thing is, if you play GBA games then the whole screen will be used (exact ratio). But if you play other system, the screen ratio is different so it wont look optimal

@@virtualspace4882I'm the opposite, this one is THE PERFECT one. Imo the sp is over hyped, not much love given to the gba. It has the best, most comfortable form factor out of all the gb lines.
Nope... it isn't "another PERFECT one"; it's THE perfect one! - at least till someone put a next gen snapdragon chipset in its shell, add at least some knobs in the left and right sides that works as a stick, so we could use it to run up to "this last BigN system that ban everyone just for mention it" and other modern stuff through streaming. But play N64, DC, PS1 and PSP in a GBA is already perfection enough for me now (and i surelly will try BoTW through streaming on it, just for fun, when mine arrives).
I just received mine today and plan on making it a dedicated GBA handheld. I also plan on buying all the available color skews. Lastly, when Modretro drops their own GBA FPGA version later this year, I will definitely jump onboard and grab one or two device(s). Long live the GBA!
I really like how Anbernic does have a good name in quality at least. I mean, yeah, they release stuff at an alarming rate, but at least they’re not junk. To me a great cost saving measure should be to keep the shells as they are and buy “upgrade kits” or have them at least available. Kinda like buying the single board “compooper” and still keep your preferred nostalgic shell
I'm with you. I've never owned an original GBA but I've played enough of them to know this feels like a GBA... uncomfortable in some ways and awkward in others yet absolutely I'm here for it!
Keep being you Dweeb - been here a while and I love the fact you have doubled down on the persona… maybe the geeks do inherit the earth. Of handhelds at least ❤️
The original GBA had that horrible screen that had no backlighting whatsoever. Nintendo touted that it was one of those "transflective" lcds that would reflect the light around it from behind the screen, thus illuminating the screen. In practice, it was awful. I can remember trying to hold it directly under a lamp while playing it in an effort to see what was going on... Many options though for third party lighting accessories for the GBA.
Hey Dweeb do you ever just laugh at your own content when you watch it back and wonder "wth?" SEGGGGGGGA that jump scare was hilarious. Now for the 34XX, as it looks like something I would recommend I love my original in this case only because well it's modded and plays GBA/GB/GBC just like I want it to
Usually when I make a vid it takes me all day, and I come up with lots of random jokes and weird moments on the fly (like the SEGA! thing), and then the next day I've forgotten about them and I get to experience them with fresh eyes. I also noticed the brightness on the stock Amberlic firmware left something to be desired. Yeah I much prefer having many options the way Knulli does it. At max brightness it's not as bright as the 3.5" screen devices, but it's not that far off. That's why I didn't complain much about it.
Or if you have an OG GBA you can put a sound chip, Switch speakers and a screen update and be playing the actual original. Granted you're not going to play anything else as far as other consoles go but if the GBA is your thing that's certainly something you should have in your collection.
Yeah I have a feeling there will be more colors too. I really like how the transparent colors work on this handheld where you can barely see the X and Y buttons and how they are labeled on the transparent only within the button. It's a nice touch.
All I have to say about the design is that there is a perfect one out there for all of us, but no one perfect single device....yet. I like choice. My Flipzizzle is my current fave, so this one isn't needed by me, but I'm glad it exists simply because it'll bring more folks into the retro fold, and that's never a bad thing. Great review as always fellow time saving shower pee-r--er--Mr. Dweeb!
I had a black GBA as a child, it was my very first console ever! So the black model is soo soo tempting for the nostalgia. But, i don’t think i would actually play much on it, i have a modded gba, and i find it very uncomfortable, even tho i have tiny hands. Plus i already get the same size and 3x times scaling on my Squazizzle! But i do think this device is a huge win for the community!
Hey, tiny little princess, do you know what can be fun on all this "small hand, big hand, grow up and memoirs"? People forget that they should adapt and just stick to what they took as granted in the new products... Let's say i was a small kiddo with chubby hands when got into a videogame for the first time. Was a Sega MegaDrive/Genesis and that controller was HUGE(!!!) for me, so much that i enjoyed to play Sonic, cause all 3 buttuns were jump, so i only needed C, cause to press A i needed to stretch my thumb too much and on games like Street Fighter i suffered to do even hadoukens when wes in the left side, cause it needed to be a motion from down to right, and i hadn't this reach till my teenaging when i started to stretch, so i used to lay the controller on my lap and pretend to be playing as in an arcade bartop with dpad. Now as a fully grown up (and even kind of bizarre) creature, already with grey beard and sight issues, i can hold the same SEGA 3 buttons pad confortably enough to do whatever i want too with it, as my hands also can hugh confortably something like Xbox 360/One controllers (which i love the dpads to use for any 2D action when available more than any PS and modern Nintendo stuff) and i believe even that infamous "The Duke" wouldn't felt so awkwardly big on my hands if i could try it someday. Then, back some (lots) years in the past, my infant hands used to hugh the Super Nintendo controllers the same way they can now with Xbox; i used to feel easier to play things on my friend's Nintendos than on my MD due to this (i could reach all its face buttons); now, i can't for the love of any god feel that little bastard usefull if i try to embrace it whole as i can with its concurrent pad... SO, i just adapted my grip again and, when playing something on a real SNES controller or using something similar to it, as my SN30 from 8BitDo, i just hold it with my fingertips to have enough reach. Long story short, i believe this should be the same for these "looked to be great when i was young, but know felt just awkward" situation for the ones that used to play on GBA when were kids and try these newer replicas nowadays. PS: black is always the best option!
I loooove the aesthetic of the Thiccbizzle. I just ordered a Bizzazzle the other day based on your other videos. Ultimately, aspect ratio was the decider for me. I agree that GBA is peak one-platform, but truth is that I'm not limited to a single platform with these things. Bizzazzle won out since it will be better for text on SNES/PSX RPGs, but man... I think a Thiccbizzle will still be in my future as a dedicated GBA device all the same.
I've got nothing but love for this thing and it arrived the day after Xmas so I've had a lot of fun for the last week or so. I don't think I'd reliably use it for non-gba games but gba has literally 1500 games so there's plenty for me to load up on the thiccbizzle.
I'm happy for those who like this device. For me because my first handheld was the original gameboy and jumped direct to GBA SP, I have zero attachment to the shape.
My 2 favorite retro gaming youtube video references that always bring a smile to my face are when TechDweeb brings out the punching powkiddy cat and when Game Sack's Joe mentions TATE MODE! Good times, impulse buy commencing.
It looks great, but I wish it had really leant into its inspiration. There would be nothing wrong with having this device specifically designed for GBA emulation, only having an A + B button, only two shoulder buttons.
This looks fantastic but I’m using my miyoo mini v4 4 gba and in the future I want to upgrade the screen on my gba sp when I can afford it I have 15 handhelds and I can play everything all the way up to PlayStation two and game cube so I think I’m good but I absolutely love your channel and I’m gonna keep on watching happy new year my UA-cam friend🎉🤗
Yeah, this one and the Arc are the only ones I need to get still. Mainly for the control layout, not many give sega any retro love or the other odd ones as well. An N64 one with the proper controls would be a nice addition for sure using the modern layout just doesn't feel right.
I saw your RG CUBE video....RG Cube XX i think came after that video, Probably the one to recommend instead of the 30 or whatever that you did recommend lol. Love your videos.🔥
TD, now that you've had some time with a Thiccbizzle after only owning SPs and Flipzizzles, in that scenario where you're only allowed to play GBA for the rest of your life... which device would it be on, Thiccbizzle or Flipzizzle? Maybe neither? Do you roll with the top of the line Pocket Micro? You have to choose one, all your other devices will be confiscated and sent to the e-waste dump! And have you started brainstorming names for the 34XXSP yet? :p
Ohh.... 0:44 what is this? I've been thinking about getting a Data Frog SF2000, but this, I might need both. Definitely gonna have to check the video out after this. 😄👍
I'd honestly love to buy either the SP or regular GBA variant of those. Don't care for the others. Also still have my indigo color GBA and the metallic blue GBA SP but I really enjoy these having more guts. Sadly can't find any resellers in Europe.
Hey Dweeb, I just wanted to make a small correction. You said that nobody else had made a console that tried to look like an original GBA but there was actually one before the 34xx. The Powkiddy v30. It was terrible and wasn't worth buying but it looked a lot like a GBA. That is all thanks.
Here for the Dweeb! another great video! GBA is great I had one, but definitely loving the 35XXSP better, so gonna skip the 34XX. Dweeb im actually playing the A30 quite a bit, havent seen a review of that from you, after I installed Spruce OS3....Magical and fits in my pocket nicely....But whatever floats your goat :P
I want to see if I can get mGBA working on that and use it with Dolphin running on my laptop. The GBA didn't come at a significant point in my life, but it's probably the handheld that I look on with the most fondness. That or the PSP.
I still want the Flipzizzle. I do have to say, it compared my real horizontal GBA (IPS screen) to your video and yeah, everything looks to match up. You could easily fit a 3.4" screen on it. One reviewer did mention with the d-pad so small and close, your thumb can smudge the screen edge.
Do you plan on getting your hands on the new thumby color by tinycircuits, which also took heavy inspiration from the gba. You did review their first thumby a few years back
I was hoping the elder gods would settle on Advizzle. Also, I can't hate on Anbernic for basically having two chipsets for all their devices. This just means, eventually you'll get a budget H700 in the form factor you've been waiting for. Also, it means there's a ton of community OS development that works across the whole line. My favorite XX is the Squazizzle, just because of how well that screen works for GB/GBC and especially vertical arcade.
That's the thing; the retro games these devices are intended for don't get anymore hardware intensive. Anything past PS1 would demand analogue sticks. Just like the GBA got the SP and Micro, the H700 has those covered and more.
Hey Dweeb, not sure if you mentioned it before, but where did you find the buttons for the flipzizzle? I disassembled mine and tried painting them orange, but it didn't work out great and they're sticking.
Did you just assume my GBA preference?! Outrageous!! Seriously though, I *never* liked the OG GBA form factor. My Flipzizzle is finally all set up with Knulli (partially thanks to your recently well timed guide), it's transparent blue, and has a custom sticker on the lid. My perfect GBA is already here! Glad you're having fun though 🖤
I'm the opposite, never liked the sp form factor, very uncomfortable to hold, weird form factor, the gba is the most comfortable to hold out of all the gb lines.
@@TatsuyaWow Wait, the OG GBA SP didn't have a headphone jack? Damn. I never actually owned any kind of GBA back in the day, but the SP was the coolest from the outside looking in (IMHO). The RG35XXSP *does* have a headphone jack for anyone wondering.
In my experience the anbernic SD cards don't come loaded with Nintendo games anymore which sucks, but it's very easy to drag and drop some into the readymade GBA folder lol
There was always a bit of practical rationale behind my previous retro handheld purchases. The RP3+ was my gateway into the retro emulation scene. The RP4 Pro was an upgrade over the RP3. The Odin 2 Mini was an upgrade over the RP4. The Rg28xx can't be beat in terms of how it balances extreme pocketability and functionality, and it pretty much ensures that I won't be anywhere without access to thousands of games at all times. There was no such rationale behind my getting the Rg34xx. There was no practical reason for me to get one, but I snatched it up immediately because of my love and nostalgia for the original GBA design, which I will ALWAYS contend to be superior to the SP redesign if not for the lack of backlight. I don't regret my purchase for even a second, I do the majority of my gaming on this thing now. Not just for GBA, Playing PS1 and Dreamcast on here is a surreal experience for me.
not to be a nerd, but technically the powkiddy a30 was the first actual gba emulation clone. But it was lacking all in all compated to the Thiccbizzle.
They added further brightness too or just middlegrounds between the ones it already had? I'm just waiting mine to arrive (should took a while yet due to the damn customs here), but got curious. Could had tried with my CubeXX to see despite being other device with a whole different screen, but Anbie released it a couple hours after i reinstalled my SD due to having messed too much on it, so i'll wait some time for now.
I "sacrificed" my GBA for my cousin who couldn't afford one (to be fair, we couldn't really, either), but with the end goal of getting an SP 'cos let's face it, the GBA screen was so bad you couldn't actually play it without direct sunlight.

@@TechDweeb really love your videos, my retroid pocket 4 pro is on the way because of your reviews!
GBA and DS are my favorite systems to go back and play! I wanted this bad boy but owning the SP is good enough for now. This thing looks great though!
It's the best time to love retro games. Anbernic did a great job with this one!
This is really cool one!! Happy New Year to all!🥰
I loooove the aesthetic of the Thiccbizzle.
Bizzazzle is a legend, you made a great choice!
I've got nothing but love for this thing and it arrived the day after Xmas so I've had a lot of fun for the last week or so. I don't think I'd reliably use it for non-gba games but gba has literally 1500 games so there's plenty for me to load up on the thiccbizzle.
Your videos are fantastic, very fun and original!. ✌🏻🤓🎮
Ive been waiting for your bizzle name of this device 😅. I love it.. the THICCBIZZLE
I hope they keep making these nostalgic designs with oled screens and better processors, these are sick!
It looks great, but I wish it had really leant into its inspiration. There would be nothing wrong with having this device specifically designed for GBA emulation, only having an A + B button, only two shoulder buttons.
I like your reviews very much. The right amount of nit-picks, in my opinion. The right amount of humor too.
Oh hey, a Knight of Lodis viewing in the wild 😮
The sad 😂 mall nailed it.
Welcome back from ya trip, hope ya had fun ❤
I saw your RG CUBE video....RG Cube XX i think came after that video, Probably the one to recommend instead of the 30 or whatever that you did recommend lol.
Love your videos.🔥
Looks really cool. I'm bummed to hear that the screen is a little dim though
Vancebizzle was what popped in my head but Thiccbizzle sounds good.
😄👍
TD, now that you've had some time with a Thiccbizzle after only owning SPs and Flipzizzles, in that scenario where you're only allowed to play GBA for the rest of your life... which device would it be on, Thiccbizzle or Flipzizzle? Maybe neither? Do you roll with the top of the line Pocket Micro? You have to choose one, all your other devices will be confiscated and sent to the e-waste dump!
And have you started brainstorming names for the 34XXSP yet? :p
I just ordered mine for my birthday, it'll be just like 2002!
Only 23 years later!
Happy Birthday buddy!
Haa! 13:14
You're in the zone when that index finger creeps over the top and starts hitting the Y button.
😆
"THE CLAW"
I also pee when I shower to save time.
Pro tip: You can save even more time if you take a dump while taking a shower.
RG406H and RG34XX are 2 best 2024 handleds for me
Excellent combo
Ohh.... 0:44
what is this? I've been thinking about getting a Data Frog SF2000, but this, I might need both.
Definitely gonna have to check the video out after this.
😄👍

@@TechDweeb heh. Yeah, I already watched it.
I might just finally finish teaching myself how to mod my PSP (a task I started over 4 years ago)
😅👍
I’m happy using my RG35xxh for mainly GBA but those shoulder buttons are way way better.
I'd honestly love to buy either the SP or regular GBA variant of those. Don't care for the others. Also still have my indigo color GBA and the metallic blue GBA SP but I really enjoy these having more guts. Sadly can't find any resellers in Europe.
0:24 I see you secretly nail polish your feet.
Not my photo. You can tell because it's red, not orange.
@@TechDweebah ok, understandable have a nice day.
Oh interesting. Never knew about that. Thanks for the infos!
This hit me right in the nostalgia
I bought this one o
Immediately, I cant wait for them to make other color variations 🎉
I want to see if I can get mGBA working on that and use it with Dolphin running on my laptop. The GBA didn't come at a significant point in my life, but it's probably the handheld that I look on with the most fondness. That or the PSP.
I still want the Flipzizzle. I do have to say, it compared my real horizontal GBA (IPS screen) to your video and yeah, everything looks to match up. You could easily fit a 3.4" screen on it. One reviewer did mention with the d-pad so small and close, your thumb can smudge the screen edge.
Hi, Dweeb! Can you tell me what game is on screen at 'round 11:07?
My guess is that it's CIMA: The Enemy
Do you plan on getting your hands on the new thumby color by tinycircuits, which also took heavy inspiration from the gba. You did review their first thumby a few years back
I love their stuff! So silly and impractical but so interesting. I'd love to check out their GBA mini thing some day.
Hey TechDweeb, have you ever had a look at the Analog Pocket? Would love to hear your thoughts on it.
I painted mine. I made a guide about how I did it: ua-cam.com/video/AGE-ge10u2U/v-deo.html
I believe they're called "fish-flops.'
I'm the opposite, never liked the sp form factor, very uncomfortable to hold, weird form factor, the gba is the most comfortable to hold out of all the gb lines.
and no headphone jack
@@TatsuyaWow Wait, the OG GBA SP didn't have a headphone jack? Damn. I never actually owned any kind of GBA back in the day, but the SP was the coolest from the outside looking in (IMHO). The RG35XXSP *does* have a headphone jack for anyone wondering.
I legit laughed my ass off @0:42 😂😂😂😂
🎉 Waiting on march so I can buy the transculent green 8BitDo Keybord.
Me making a Retro MiniPC.
Neat!

"Hey Girrl."
It's cloudy and rainy here and Adventure Time is my rainy day show because rainy days are my favorite days... Most of the time.
😄👍
LSP saying "Hey Girrrrl" lives in my head rent free
@TechDweeb Jake singing Bacon Pancakes is in mine. That and a bunch of Flapjack stuff, I wish that show had been around longer.
😄👍
Honestly not priced bad either if it's actually fully loaded with games ready to go!
In my experience the anbernic SD cards don't come loaded with Nintendo games anymore which sucks, but it's very easy to drag and drop some into the readymade GBA folder lol
i got a modded GBA with the IPS screen and a multi-rom cart. Transparent orange baby. This looks nice.
I only play Retro games these days because modern games are boring.
And expensive
Nowadays indie games are standing out more than AAA games that have become soulless
Bequeethed 😂😂 fire video bro 🔥🔥
not to be a nerd, but technically the powkiddy a30 was the first actual gba emulation clone. But it was lacking all in all compated to the Thiccbizzle.
Brother, what TMNT game is that at 12:25?
this brings back alot of nostalgia "Memories"
Ahhhhh classic TechDweeb!
3:2 is the answer. Always.
Ill end up buying one once the price drops a bit, reminds me of the piboy dmg, w the a & b buttons in the proper layout
Dimmer? Did you install the stock os update that increased the brightness?
They added further brightness too or just middlegrounds between the ones it already had? I'm just waiting mine to arrive (should took a while yet due to the damn customs here), but got curious. Could had tried with my CubeXX to see despite being other device with a whole different screen, but Anbie released it a couple hours after i reinstalled my SD due to having messed too much on it, so i'll wait some time for now.
@@Aaron-ge7hoit’s actually brighter, from 5 steps of brightness to 8
Latest MuOS does support RG34XX.
Odroid GO Advance has a perfect pixel scaling of GBA. Its ancient but it doesn't matter with such games.
I just want the same thing but bigger. They should do a megathiccbizzle
I "sacrificed" my GBA for my cousin who couldn't afford one (to be fair, we couldn't really, either), but with the end goal of getting an SP 'cos let's face it, the GBA screen was so bad you couldn't actually play it without direct sunlight.
I'll be honest, I almost regret getting my 406V back in November. If I'd known this was coming, I'd have gotten it instead
