      I definitely think the 2-1 will put out better numbers. Not sure how much of a boost you'll get, but it'll perform better than the Sweepers. Still though. The Sweepers looked kick-ass!

    I just got my bike back with the new 131 kit on my 2018 Heritage. i have the S&S 2 into 1 with the racing muffler. i did got with a new cluthc also. i had to replace my stock air cleaner with and went with the screaming eagle extreme. they dont want to dyno it until i have over 500 miles on it. they put a 131 map from harley screaming eagle and used my existing screaming eagle tuner. when i take it in they will use the power vision to tune and dyno it. will be interesting. this is really good to see for sure. glad i went with the 2 into 1.

    I’ve always felt that when I put a 2-1 pipe on my bikes they sort of woke things up. Never put them on a dyno but looks like the proof is there. Still dig the sound of the duals better, especially on Block’s bike but the gains were worth the swap. Great video series!

    On my 19 RGS with the 131, Harley tuner, D&D 2-1 Billet Cat With the Big Bore baffle I made 139 TQ 134 HP tuned at Mile High Harley Parker, CO. Can't wait to use a different Cam and tuner for my Beast.

  • @MeathedMoto
    @MeathedMoto 4 роки тому +5

    EPA tunes have to run the bike leaner to increase the heat so that catalytic converters are hot enough to cause the platinum and other catalytic material to react with the exhaust gases to just get CO2 and H2O. Those tunes also try to mitigate emissions of NO(x) and SO(x). In doing so the lean nature of the tunes cause a decrease in power.

    • @shano81
      @shano81 4 роки тому +1

      Meathed_Moto factory is tuned to run stoichimetric 14.6 air fuel ratio. if you run too lean with a high AFR your bike will run like a bat out of hell but you are running the risk of damaging your valves and pistons with explosive energy. my tuner set my bike somewhere in the high 13’s. Also- you can’t go that far low with a Harley screamin eagle tuner- better to use a powerVision.

    • @MeathedMoto
      @MeathedMoto 4 роки тому +1

      @@shano81 yes all that afr table reading entale to meeting epa guidelines which makes it so it meets the emission level that i mentioned above.

    10% peek HP gain is monstrous. I wonder if it improves low do down riding also . i.e. across the entire rev range. If so the hp gains are astronomical.

    I appreciate all of these videos. I’ve put about 1500 miles on my 131 build in the last 3 weeks, and I’m on the fence if the thunder max is worth the upgrade. Definitely going to look into a 2-1 though.

    • @joesainato8051
      @joesainato8051 4 роки тому +1

      I am not for or against any particular aftermarket tuner but I can guarantee you will be off the fence in you put powervision thundermax tts on your bike and you have a reputable tuner. If you caught where Chris said he will be able to tune the drop you get with the 2into1 early on especially a short 2into1. The adjustments are endless and get you running optimal and get the most power out of the bike. After all you spent good money why leave HP and TQ on the table

    • @rjhembrick2568
      @rjhembrick2568 4 роки тому +1

      Joe Sainato solely for the warranty. I wouldn’t flush it down the drain for 5hp.

    • @joesainato8051
      @joesainato8051 4 роки тому

      Rj Hembrick I totally understand. I am going to say you are going to see far more than 5 horse. If you change your exhaust as he did with either one your warranty is technically void. In baggers cat is in head pipe so you can use slip on and be ok and I believe on softails the cat is in muffler so warranty voided. Of course it depends on how well dealer will work with you. So if you think about it he got 128/131 with 2into1 and se tuner which is above the 117 with other pipes. I’m not sure what stock exhaust would do but not close to the 2into1. You have to buy tuner. SE $299. Powervision license $199 plus charge for putting in which is a minimal charge. I can guarantee you that 2into1 with powervision vs SE tuner with warranty compliant exhaust is much closer to 20horse and 10ft pounds which are huge gains. Like I said I understand warranty but there is an enormous difference in epa compliant parts and aftermarket parts

    • @rjhembrick2568
      @rjhembrick2568 4 роки тому

      Joe Sainato right now it has tab slip ons and Harley auto tuner, makes 123/129. I’m happy with it, but I’m curious on what is left on the table.

    I just got back from attending the V-Twin Visionary tour in the Smoky Mtn. Went on a ride with a group and ended up with Rusty, owner of D&D Exhaust, on the ride as well. During lunch we were talking the big bore kits since I just had the HD 128 installed and I mentioned your videos about the build and exhaust, tuners, etc. Ya'll need to reach out to him to get his ideas about it. He is a cool guy, a no-nonsense, no-BS kind of guy and will give you his thoughts about the setups to get the most performance. ( And the dude can ride too ).
    Also, if you want a great riding experience in the Smokies, just contact the Smoky Mtn Harley Davidson about riding in the Smokies. They will help with lodging, attractions to visit, roads to ride, all bikes are welcome and the best part guided rides whether solo or group, it's all FREE. Highly recommend the guided rides because these guys know all the roads in the area. Just tell them what you want to experience and they can help you. For example, you want to ride the Dragon, they will set that up but will take you on many AWESOME backroads to get there and back. You don't have to worry about navigating just follow and enjoy. Warning: Some of these back roads rides can get very technical in riding skill ability. You need to be proficient in slow speed maneuvers (especially with turning), practice with friction zone, counter steering, familiar with group riding and stopping/starting uphill and downhill. Think Blockhead and crew need to plan a few days vacation in the area to do this and film it.

I also got the chance to speak with Rusty from D&D, he said the best overall pipe for the M8 Softails in his opinion was the FatCat for torque performance. Please in the next video overlay the Dyno charts so we can see the differences at specific areas on the graph. For most of us its about all areas of torque or area under the curve. For example when you say trading numbers its important to see where the loss is and how long before catch up etc. You guys are doing a great job. My comments are because I’m visual. It’s easier to look at before and after graphs together and see where the gains and losses are. The peak numbers are not really important except when a beer is in hand lol.

    I learned something. I've always heard anecdotally that 2-2 is terrible for tuning and sub-optimal for performance and that 2-1 is better, but it was always in the same realm as all the other anecdotal bs we all hear. It's cool to actually get that validated.

    • @beardedforlife3740
      @beardedforlife3740 4 роки тому +1

      That doesn't actually validate it though. That was just comparing peak to peak with a shit exhaust vs a good exhaust. It deals more with pipe design rather than layout. Remember, shadetrees bike makes more power with a 2-2. Tbh, peak isn't even what should be looked at. Having a smooth torque and power curve matters much more than peak power. On my sportster with a built motor there is actually a set of slip ons that perform better in the low to midrange than a majority of 2-1 exhaust. It even performs better than some on the top end too.

    By putting this full set of pipes on what does it do to your Warranty 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

      Pretty sure its up to your specific dealer but I'm not familiar with HD warranty. Just ask your dealer what they think about it and get it in writing. But also if you put a pipe on your bike they can't void the entire bikes warranty just the engine/trans warranty. They have to show proof that a mod contributed to breaking something. Look up the Magnuson Moss act for more info.

    10% is a good amount. now a lot are saying equal length well what about a 2-2 equal length.. personally I would look at not peak but the normal rev range so the 1500 to the 3500.. not to 4500 or 5k.. see where that is.. if those values are still 10% off all around then maybe just maybe find a 2 - 1 that you like the looks and sound with.. but again the 2 - 2 pipes look better and to me sound better. also finding the 2-2 pipes that were meant for that cc.. well lovin this indepth go through of what to expect after each mod and what to look for if going for absolute peak performance vs just some performance and some looks.. cheers

    Dynos are NOT calibrated to a unit of standard weights and measures. So different dynos can and do read differently, sometimes very differently. Plus I’d dare to say the addition big counterweights on the softail crank may cost a bit of power over the one counterweight of the touring.

    Hello Blockhead Question do you actually feel the difference on the bike 2-1 vs 2-2 or its just the numbers. As you now price between them are different 2-1 is always more expensive option. Is it really worth it to pay that extra ?

    Turnout exhausts can affect scavenging. Should've gone with the TBR comp exhaust and SE heavy breather if you want HP. If you want torque go with a fuller length 2-1 pipe which will give you more back pressure

    Block, the touring version has a header pipe from harley. I wonder if thie r engineering knows something about what works in their engine. Great job though. Lots of fun. Oh, the stock Harley clutch is rated to be 139 to strong. Keep an coming. Balance this tech video with some grom play.

    I have d and d 2 into 1 and no dips in curve. I got slightly better peak numbers and a huge gain in the torque curve. Peak tq is now much low in rpm range and sound like god threw a megaphone 📣 my 107 cam tune and 2 into 1 makes 108 hp 116 tq . 5 hrs of tuning at small shop

    So same torque for both exhaust types. I love my Harley but some Harley fanboys would always spout bullshit to me about about “torque is all that matters” whenever I brought up other bikes. So are we now saying that’s not true or are we saying it is? Very interesting video though. Would not have expected the HP delta you saw.

    You been running an aftermarket intake and “full exhaust” (vs slip ons) without a tuner? I know the internet says that’s a no-no, but have you had any adverse side affects from it being that way?
    I have a ‘17 Ultra Limited with slip ons, and want to do intake and new head pipes but if I could get away with waiting and not doing the tuner at the same time that’d be great
