    “What happened to the 2-1 exhaust.” Already getting this question a lot!
    Please read the stuff I put into the video like at 0:42 and 13:50 and read the description 👍🏼
    Thanks for watching! I hope y’all are learning as much as I am with the build process of this Stage 4! 🤘🏼

    I do love that you tossed out the warranty to actually push the limits on this engine. I love seeing the actual capabilities of it

    • @onecookieboy
      @onecookieboy 4 роки тому

      The biggest limitation on a Harley engine is the fact that it is air cooled, no thermal control which means you can't get the best out of it.

    • @ragingtyga
      @ragingtyga 4 роки тому +1

      The 2018+ M8s are using oil cooled heads, in addition to being air cooled though

    • @onecookieboy
      @onecookieboy 4 роки тому

      @@ragingtyga It's just an oil cooled exhaust valve pretty basic temp control, Harley must be just about the only company in the world who's engines are all air cooled. TBH 140 odd HP from a 2.1 litre engine is no that impressive.

    • @skippynj1979
      @skippynj1979 4 роки тому +1

      And that's the love of Harleys.. your still getting an air cooled motor... if you like to always work on your bike... tear it down.. build it back.. harley is really the only game in town to do this. Granted not many people work on their bikes anymore, there are still a few of us out there. I have amazing technologically advanced bikes too .. but at the end of the day the bikes I've built are much more enjoyable than the bikes I just sit in and go fast.
      If you want an amazing bike for little money get a an Apillia Tuono 1100R. Simply amazing for 15k USD. But other than doing an exhaust and tune. And valve checks.. and farkles.. you are not doing anything to that machine.. This will be my next bike in my stable.
      My Harleys i can make a few phone calls.. get parts and have fun for a week doing anything my heart desires.. that's fun to me.. if you do the work yourself, you will save a ton.

      @@skippynj1979 Plus Harley went with liquid cooled before. The VRod, one of which I own. I love it, but the aftermarket isn't as extensive as the other models for the this reason you talked about. Plus the new HD models are also going liquid cooled. Their entry level bikes, the street series, are also liquid cooled

    Hey Block....can you put up a shot of the original tune hp & torque curves superimposed on the new ones for each pipe?? I know some people are probably saying "How does it feel stronger when it actually lost hp?"....however thats only PEAK HP....I am betting it gained a TON in the midrange when you went to the Thundermax. Thats where you TRULY feel the difference. Peak HP is great and all but you can lose 5 hp at 5500 but gain 10-15 hp at 3500 hp and that is actually where you live, where you actually USE the HP and Torque. I bet it really lit up the midrange (different cams are used in order to increase specific area's of your rev range...). That bike appears to truly be running AWESOME!! So glad you put the Tmaxx on it with the original 2 into 2's!!! GREAT VID!!! You have a great shop there too!! WIsh our local shop was this good!!

Got the newest oil pump and also the new clutch to handle the power. Adamecs Harley Davidson in Jacksonville did it. i am going to break it in for about 600 miles then bring it back. right now it is tuned with the SE tuner map from Harley. then when i get the break in done they will use Powervision to tune it. Really looking forward to it. i am really dont care much about the HP. it is the torque. i don't ride at 5000 rpm. right now it is phenomenal. i could not be more please. Adamecs has done such a good job. looking forward to taking it in and getting the final tune. i also by the way went with the feuling vented oil dip stick. it is recommended. i wanted to do that right from the beginning. that engine a beauty to behold. expensive but hey what the heck. im retired. will update you when i get it done. enjoying your video for sure.

    Idk about riding around on a new motor with a rough base tune.
    Frlm what a tuner I know said u wanna get the AFRs dialed in as fast as possible. The fueling during the first 50 miles on a new motor is super important to how that motor is gonna break in.
    That keep it under 4000rpm for the first 500mi is a load of BS.
    Harley’s have roller bearings. It’s just about ring seal which by 50mi or so.. that’s about what u got. Few heat cycles then some roll
    Offs on the rollers with increasing rpms to
    Build cyl pressures and seat the rings

    • @sickwideglide
      @sickwideglide 4 роки тому +1

      Not far from my targets...every tuner has their own target numbers in regards to AFR, overall curve, rpm relation to curve, plus length of time to achieve that peak number, all that data comes into play with regards to tuning. You can have equal bikes with equal power but if one reaches it’s peak numbers faster than the other, well, thats the one that will win everytime...lets not forget that their are many varying factors in this game, i.e. intake size, injector size, pulse width, valve size, displacement, piston dome shape, size of combustion chamber, size and lenth of exhaust pipes, type of fuel...and the list can keep going tbh, lol, but that aught to be enough for the moment! Probably if you don't have a bunch of UA-cam videos showing the aftermarket tuner ;) Mostly joking, what most people don't realize is that the dealership isn't out to void your warranty. In theory, it could be voided for the tuner or probably the pipes (assuming they don't have catalytic converters), in reality, dealerships usually won't void the warranty unless the aftermarket part is to blame for whatever problem you have. It may be preferable for H-D corporate to void more warranties, but it's usually preferable to the dealership to make customers happy.

    If you ask me. For the price, this is how the bike should preform from the factory. Crazy you have to dump so much money for the bike to preform how it should.

      Disagree on it performing like this from the factory. Having recently ridden a stock Road Glide for a few days, you can tell H-D aims for that more middle ground to try and appeal to more people. So many people would be driven away if bikes came like my FXLRS is right now. It’s freakin angry! lol

    @BlockheadMoto- at this point of the bike, what was installed? Was this just the SE131 and swapped the tune to a TM? Or different cam?

    Why couldn’t you load it straight onto the Dyno once you had installed the Thundermax hardware on the bike with the base tune from TM and tuned it to optimise the HP and Torque using the PV. It’s a pity that you are totally dependent on TM auto tune to get you to a point for you to start really tuning using your tuning expertise and the Dynojet tools at your disposal. Good to get some response from you and Matt Smith (Those Dyno Guys) on this approach. I am not an “auto tuner” fan.

    Lots of nice new parts going into this bike. The HP is lagging still but torque is ok, though... By the time your done you've added, 131 kit/throttle body, cams, heads?, tuner, clutch and new pipes, plus whatever else. You gotta be well north of $10k on the build. The tuning seems to be a very long process. I don't think your average Harley dealer is that dedicated to one bike, unless you have very deep pockets. That's kind of disappointing. Hopefully we should see at least 145 to 150 hp by the end?

      Keeping the 2-1, makes a decent bit more power 👍🏼

    Just curious you mentioned about the torque and hp numbers crossing around 5200 rpm, not sure if you know but hp and tq always cross at 5250rpms on all gas engines

    Coming from someone who would like to not void a warranty. Would changing out the ECM as a whole keep the warranty “intact” by just changing back if I need work done?
