“Leveling” kits usually make the front look higher, which looks squatted, which looks stupid. I don’t think my 2014 SR5 was modded, and the rear on mine is only 1.5” higher. I wouldn’t want to install a spacer any bigger than 3/4” to 1” in the front so the rear would only be 0.5” to 0.75” higher. A tiny bit of rake like that looks ideal in my opinion. This one turned out great. If it had actually raised the front 2.5” like it claimed, that would’ve been too much. Nice video and tutorial!
I've learned that every 4Runner sits different. Sometimes they sit perfect, sometimes the front is a bit high. I recommend the ICON kit over the Maxtrac kit because it is about a half inch shorter.

do you still need spacers if you running OEM skid plate? not the TRD verison
Does the leveling kit get rid of the front end dive when you apply the brakes hard?
It will give it a stiffer ride which intern means it won't dive as hard.
can you fit 285/70/17 ko2s on trd pro wheels with the maxtrac leveling kit?

Great video. Do you also have to adjust the headlights now that they are 2 inches higher?
I personally don't think so, but that's personal preference where you want your headlights pointing.
If you care about being respectful to oncoming drivers that share the road, then yes, you should at least have them checked.
The correct answer is yes you want to adjust the headlights anytime you change the angle of the vehicle such as adding a lift, leveling kit, etc.
Did you have to do anything with the TSS/Speedo/Odo with the leveling lift and larger tires at all, mostly the TSS?

Do u need the front sway bar spacer for this? I'm such a noob to kdss and don't wanna do anything to damage kdss.
Good video, subscribed. Wouldn't it be better to measure from the center hub of the wheel to the bottom of the fender instead of the floor? The hub is a fixed point and should always remain consistent, whereas the other measurement can actually change based on the amount of tire air pressure.
Crazy because I measured my front end at 35.250 The back is 37.250 so it’s just 2 in difference.
His is at 34.750 in the front

The center of the hub to the floor doesn’t change in height unless you inflate the tires differently or put different tires on.

I have KDSS in my TRD off road premium and every single shop in my town won’t touch my 4Runner because of it… I would literally drive to y’all just to work on my car.
Yeah it's crazy how some places wont touch it. We just installed a leveling kit and kdss sway bar spacer last week on a 4Runner. Wasn't that difficult.
Are we supposed to get that pin back into place?
Hi great video... Quick question doesn't the offroad have kdss suspension that prevents you from putting the trd offroad skid plate in the front. I have an off-road premium in Canada and they say I can't put on a skid plate
Our trd off-road does not have kdss. Ours is also a premium package.

Kdss is a optional suspension choice I just built a 23 Trd ORP and during the build you can select it but it’s a more expensive package in the build and not worth it in my opinion like the trd pro suspension for the price is overrated

Yes, you will need an alignment. Your toe and camber will be off.

Great video! Will this work on a Limited with AWD? full time 4wd. A different video said struts don't compact all the way and can cause breakage.
According to Maxtrac they should work on a Limited model.
Silly question for you but the CornFed spacers (1/4") will bring the front end up on my 4runner 1/2". Would you recommended a diff drop at that point? Great video BTW!!!
No, diff drop is not needed for that

I believe they were m10x1.25 and 60mm long. You wont need the extra spacers or longer bolts if you don't install the diff drop which I really don't think is needed for this.

I’m installing this kit currently on my 2022 sr5 premium 4WD. There is no way for me to drop the strut and remove it without removing the sway bar. You didn’t have to install your video. Any ideas?
Just remove the sway bar end link on both sides and you can swing the sway bar up and out of your way.

I have a 23 rwd sr5 premium is this kit good just for leveling the front, no off-roading or anything serious, use it as a work vehicle but still want to modify it a bit.
Yup this will work! Perfect for normal driving but want to just level the front end. We have both 2wd and 4wd options on our website.

Hello, I bought the 2.5 max trac but was told the 2.5 would “rake” and the 2” was needed for it to be leveled evenly?
@@luiscervantes4187 MaxTrac leveling kit only comes in one size. If you want something a little shorter then Icon is a good option. It's about 1/4" shorter.
I see it says this kit works with KDSS models. Is it small enough of a change that you don’t use the spacer in the control arm for the KDSS or did you forget to do it?
The 4Runner in this video is a non KDSS model.
Would this be ok for a 23 TRD premium for mostly road driving (as a second vehicle) with the occasional camping / moderate over landing trips? Or do you recommend suspension lift ? And putting 285’s on. Currently looking to use this leveling kit with 265’s but don’t want to regret my decision later when I should of just done the suspension lift 🤪. Thanks and great videos!
Hey Michael, the leveling kit is a good option if you're on a budget and will be fine for your occasional camping trips. If you go with a full lift kit you will have a better ride quality and overall better suspension performance. One of the most popular kits would be the 5100's from Bilstein. The kit from Eibach is very similar as well. Both kits are adjustable in the front to get it sitting just how you want.
I only have one question, would it be necessary to take it to alignment?
Overall it drives fine but after any suspension modification, you should get an alignment.

Alignment, yes. You can angle your headlights down a little if you feel you need to or if cars are high beaming you for no reason.
Did u have rear spacers on this ? Leaving mine stock except putting this spacer kit on but don’t want the front to be higher than the rear ?

Unfortunately, most spacer kits don't work with KDSS. The Bilstein 6112's are compatible with KDSS but they are more expensive, but the ride quality and durability will be better as it is a full shock and spring replacement.
Is the diff drop necessary?? Im thinking of doing this to my SR5 to level it out so im just curious?
It's not really necessary. Check out the video Tinkerer Design did on this topic. He goes super in depth on it.

"Leveling kit" raises the height but don't you also need the 2.5 inch struts and suspension...
You only need longer travel shocks when you are getting longer lift springs. And a wider diameter shock means more fluid inside, which in turn means its more durable and capable of harder abuse. But, adding a simple leveling kit does not require a shock upgrade.
Do I have to "lift" my 4runner if I just want a new suspension system and a leveling kit?
Please explain your question a bit more. A leveling kit is lifting the front end to be level with the rear.
Does Maxtrac offer new alignment specs? I've seen lift kits that offer new alignment specs due to the newly lifted positioning of the suspension

I don't understand how the having the diff drop kit will work if it is only spacers on the bottom of the diff (so not actually spacing anything like the diff other than the skid plate).
There are spacers for between the diff and frame and spacers for the skid plate as well. You are dropping the diff and skid plate.

Maxtrac says you can fit a 32" x 11.50'' tire on a 8-9" wide rim.

You can do this with a jack and jack stands.

Is it necessary to have a KDSs spacer with this kit? I know it’s not required but with it hurt if I don’t have it. Thank you.
Without any KDSS correction, the system will not function properly and will lead to premature wear on the KDSS sway bar bushings. Not to mention make it very difficult to reassemble because of the geometry change.

Trash them oem suspension , they are way too soft with extremely bad nose dive! I do highway driving on a daily basis and could not stand the bad dive when hitting the brakes. Swapped out with Dobinsons suspension and wish I had done it the first day!
Yeah the oem suspension is very soft. We currently have the icon stage 1 kit on it now.

No worries! What is your goal with your 4Runner? Are you planning on off-roading? Or just on road driving and you're looking to lift up the front. If that's the case then a leveling kit will be fine. If you plan on doing off-roading or overlanding then id look into a full lift kit.

Yup! You'll get maybe 1.5 to 2" of front lift.

I would not install a spacer kit on top of a suspension lift.

Unfortunately these are not compatible with KDSS models. You may need to go with something like the Bilstein 6112’s

These are 265/70/17 Yokohama Geolandar M/T with oem trd wheels from a 4Runner.
Installed about a week ago and my 4runner looks squatted
Every 4runner can sit different pending on what suspension you have and the mileage on the suspension. Icon makes a leveling kit that is about 1/2" shorter than Maxtrac. Using this levelling kit, can you put 33s on?
You are going to have to cut your front bumper and remove your mud flap. Don't get a super wide wheel or negative offset.
what is the different between leveling kit 2wd or 4wd?
One comes with a front diff drop kit and the other doesn't. So if you have a 4wd and don't want the diff drop then you can just order the 2wd option.
If I have kdss do I have to do anything else ?
If you install these and your truck has a lean to it, they sell a KDSS spacer to correct that. That would be the only thing you MIGHT need besides an alignment.

I agree, I just installed 1 inch spacers and loosening the lower control arm bolts and swinging the LCA's down cleared the way for an easy removal and install of the struts. Make sure to mark their exact location in case they move.
Would the airodynamic be affected with bit front drag
Well, you can't make a brick much less aerodynamic
I am sure lifting the front end will have some negative effect on the aerodynamics. It hasn't been enough for us to notice when daily friving.

You got it wrong. The 4Runner is LEVELLED when you buy from dealer. Don’t measure the wheel well edge. They are not the same size.
If I put this kit on an sr5 would I be able to get a good alignment, or just close?
The shop you take it to should be able to get everything back to factory spec if they know what they're doing.
What kind of impact socket do you use to not mark up the black lug nuts.
Just using a lug nut socket set from harbor freight
Did you say you want to install both sides at the same time?
Install both strut assemblies first before installing all the other suspension components. If you do everything on one side first and then go to the other side, you will have trouble with the sway bar not moving enough to install the strut assembly.

@@Qbdmvp By UPC do you mean upper control arm? If so then we currently still have the stock ones on. But it wouldn't be a bad idea to do so the geometry on the ball joint is better.

Diff drop is not needed for a 2wd because there is no front diff. As far as causing any damage, I would say no. The only thing I could possibly see is since your upper ball joint is at a harder angle it may wear out quicker than without the leveling kit. But that's just my guess. You can always upgrade your upper control arms and ball joints but I don't think you would have any issues for a long time.

I found that It varies from vehicle to vehicle. The ICON kit sits lower than the Maxtrac. I tend to push people towards ICON. This may be a cheap way to lift the back up just enough. Installed one on each side. yotaxpedition.com/products/arb-ome-rear-trim-spacer-for-driver-side-lean

by dropping the front diff and skid plate you are reducing ground clearance so defeating the purpose of having a lift kit and bigger tires
This is true. However the leveling kit raises the front end 2.5" and the diff drop is only about half this, so there is still a new positive. If you want max clearance, the diff drop can be left out as well.
