I can tell by the sound there is a sweet spot to parrying but is that what decides if damage passes through or is it just the impact stat?? I Parry bardiche all the time on my lock but so much damage passes through with one swing!
@@StormOberyne so you can only take damage and parry at the same time if the enemy player hits your body prior to hitting your longsword blade. For instance, I can stab you in the head of your blade and drag downward by accident and also trigger your parry. If the attacker hits the blade first with any part of the attack frames of their weapon it cannot deal damage to you. You’re likely taking damage due to dsync in the attackers favor where they’re hitting you and then your longsword blade is dragging into position on their screen during the end of their attack frames

So this week I'm gonna do some real solos again and see how it feels, but earlier in the wipe I completely stopped wanting to play in geared lobbies since it's the same boring kiting bow shooting bullshit every match at least one fight and it just turns me off the game completely. Watching streams and vids I'm pretty sure I won't last more than an hour making an attempt. Go work all day, come home to try and enjoy my favorite game and it's me chasing a fucking survival bow spamming fighter/ranger/kiting mosquito rogue/unkillable warlock with phantomize and it's like...yeah I'm just gonna go watch netflix and go to bed early at this rate lol. And especially when I stream I'd rather just have high up time running into
Hmm. I think it's not good enough. I couldn't imagine thinking the game would be fair if I had a tenth of a second advantage whenever I started attacking someone or using a skill in league of legends or any shooter I play ya know. Other fighting games don't have dsync to this level so I'm sure Ironmace can dial it in more. Also they've already had it dialed in previously. Back in February there was roughly 15-30ms of dsync consistently across every match I played for nearly 3 weeks prior to their OG crypts end of wipe event.
I think it’s about the same as it used to be. Dps trade and attempt to parry the second attack. It’s hard to parry since the weapon is very easy to manipulate swing start position. Warlocks with BoC and crystal sword will slap the bejeezu outta you tho so beware of that is all I’m likely to try and do a small video on it specifically in the future since I left it out of this video
@@oggiesoni saw the like but not the reply for some reason LOL im 2 weeks late. Im not sure how it used to be since i started when it came out on steam again but i understand what i gotta do now which is mostly dps trade then try and parry attack 2 thank you
Ive played alot of chivalry 2, and those skills do bot transfer to DnD at all. Im wonder if skills from Mordau transfer? If anyone with alot of mordau experience wants to reply to sate my curiosity it would be appreciated.
Vet from ALL the melee slashers. The fundamentals transfer, from there it's just learning the systems quirks. If you don't feel like you're pulling from chiv 2 I'm not sure what exactly you're getting hung up on other than maybe an overfamiliarity with some of the "cheese" that's intrinsic with slashers (chiv 2 in particular)
skinnypete was a big mordhau player and that contributes alot to his playstyle. You can apply drags and accelerates/weapon hitbox manipulation. But the parrying is nothing like it.
@@DimePwnz dragging is about all I've been able to "drag" from chiv. I play barb mainly so fights are usually pretty quick either them killing me or I them so I havent really had much longsword combat
I didn't play either to a level of skill that I can give an opinion. I see a few mordhau players floating that have great success with weapons like the zwei, skinny pete for example, because of the ability to actually drag that weapon.
I was confused too, but I think I got it from his explanations eventually. It means you crouch/look down as you swing with a big weapon like the Bardiche so that the wind-up animation (during which the weapon is not physical yet) happens further down, and once the weapon model actually activates and hits, it is already past the longsword. Hopefully this helps lol
Yeah like Gus said, it's moving your camera to change the start point of the attack frames of the weapon during the attacking animation. For instance, bardiche has a wind up of 1030ms or 1.03s before the weapon will have it's attack frames start. During that 1.03s you can look down to change where the bardiche axe head is positioned to start it inside players so that it cannot be block and you deal damage immediately when the attack frames begin.
I love the LS but it just isn't fair. they don't reward the parry enough. the hitboxes are scuffed af. the movement speed reduction is ridiculous. oggie and sparky need to petition the devs to fix this.
At 32:04 it looks like you might have blocked the hilt at the beginning of the swing animation. This is an older video but it explains it well ua-cam.com/video/RbOCyJ6fQEE/v-deo.htmlsi=X7oygFdUSdyBsghl&t=133
Just so you know. Hilt blocking doesn't actually do anything at this point. Sour spots don't have lower impact ratings. Maybe back then they did, but you can't hilt stuff a felling axe if a barb has crush unless you're using a buckler now and was probably like that back then as well. Tested every weapon over the last few days just to make sure I'm not blindly lying here lol A hilt block will stop and interrupt any attack from a weapon with lower or equal impact power than the impact resist of the blocking item
@@oggieson Sorry I explained that badly. I didn't mean to say that you hilt blocked and interruped the Maul attack, I meant it looks like you caught the parry from the hilt. Impossible to know for sure from this clip. This could have just been desync, or you caught the parry but for some reason the server wasn't showing the Maul's swing animation, we'd need to see Ios POV to be sure. Can you catch a parry from the hilts of weapons?
you keep saying accelerate on attacks but what does that actually mean? really weird you dont explain this before throwing out this term every sentence.
Lol. Accelerating your attack is just adjusting your aim point so the attack swing starts in a different position. For example the zwei attack is a horizontal swing. To accelerate it you would look to the opposite side of the attack so the weapons attack frames start on top of the enemy player rather than starting off the enemy players character model.
It has been very good in the past but Ironmace seems to mess up dsync/hitboxes rather often these days with patches. Just last night the dsync felt better than ever while I was streaming personally
Yeah I think their priorities are a bit mixed. But I don't think they realize the issue is as substantial as it is since there's no one on that dev team touching longsword when playing the game it seems like.
Honestly the whole excel/drag tech for wep swings is literal cancer. One of the reasons why I don’t respect skinny pete. Not to mention the dude using peripherals to make cheese tech like that even easier.
Hmmm. I don't think it's that advantageous the way pete plays but I also don't have that much experience outside DaD with melee type slasher games. I do think they could try a turn cap in this game but idk if that would ever happen. Ironmace has said in the past they're not trying to make a "fighting" game so the combat is kept in a very static/casual mode for that reason
@@oggiesonif they don’t want a fighting game, I don’t know why excels and drags aren’t removed. Turning just shouldn’t effect swing speed. At least not until they fix these fucking hit boxes. Weapons not having hit boxes until a random point in the swing is a joke. That’s why that track pad should be banned. It allows more control than is possible with other devices. I’ve got 3k hours in the game and watching someone excel a felling axe directly through the middle of your shield(even with perfect block) because hit boxes in this game are designed by a single fourth grader, it hurts my soul. And it’s literally never addressed.

And especially when I stream I'd rather just have high up time running into
@@oggieson Yeah that's very understandable
70ms to 100ms of desync lag seems pretty reasonable to me. Your ping + opponents ping is going to average that.
I was listening oggie :)
You and stosh prolly the only 2 lol
@@oggieson o7
谢谢!
You’re welcome! And thank you as well!
what about fighting against crystal sword fighters?
do you just trade dps?
I think it’s about the same as it used to be. Dps trade and attempt to parry the second attack. It’s hard to parry since the weapon is very easy to manipulate swing start position. Warlocks with BoC and crystal sword will slap the bejeezu outta you tho so beware of that is all
I’m likely to try and do a small video on it specifically in the future since I left it out of this video
@@oggiesoni saw the like but not the reply for some reason LOL im 2 weeks late. Im not sure how it used to be since i started when it came out on steam again but i understand what i gotta do now which is mostly dps trade then try and parry attack 2 thank you
can we get a zweihander masterclass? >.>
A masterclass on how to use zwei? Go watch skinny_pete. A masterclass on fighting it more in depth? Possibly in the future lol
I practice reposte from a reposte with a pal of mine, it is interesting.
@@oggieson exactly. If you were a dragging fiend on mordhau or chiv then the zwei, sledge, and halberd are your weapons of choice
what does accelarate attack mean?
at the bardiche he says, that players can accelerate attacks
How did i miss the oggie fights???
They were pretty spontaneous lol
can u parry a light orb?
I do not remember if you can parry light orb lol. I will test tonight and get back to ya
This video approved by the lutebonk bards guild. don't unveil our secrets in further ones or else
Carry on lutebonkers
When you gonna teach me how to parry my inner demons though?! 😭
Is the blue lizard in the room right now?
❤
Tested every weapon over the last few days just to make sure I'm not blindly lying here lol
A hilt block will stop and interrupt any attack from a weapon with lower or equal impact power than the impact resist of the blocking item
I thought 19:15 was a rewind
Lol he did kinda pop back forward didn't he
Ayo whats he doing with that dead harpy @15:30 😂😂
I was listening at the end 😢
You and about 4 others I bet stosh lol. Thanks for watching dude
"Dont be a parry gremlin, be aggressive" - Get absolutely grill by warlock spammer
This will happen occasionally xD. But don't forget. 9/10 warlocks suck ass and will miss their CoP if you even deviate slightly left or right lol
They wanna add competitive arena with that desync, what a joke IM.
Lol it's a bit rough for sure
parry this you casual *arcane missiles*
calm down im kidding, great video
On a real note, don't forget that you can do that and one shot wizards with it lol
Doesn't seem very realistic to have to crouch and look at the ceiling for every parry. They should change this
Can't disagree man lol
you keep saying accelerate on attacks but what does that actually mean? really weird you dont explain this before throwing out this term every sentence.
Lol. Accelerating your attack is just adjusting your aim point so the attack swing starts in a different position. For example the zwei attack is a horizontal swing. To accelerate it you would look to the opposite side of the attack so the weapons attack frames start on top of the enemy player rather than starting off the enemy players character model.
There's barely any desync in this game check your internet
Yeah that's just blatantly wrong lol
if i could play with 60 fps consistently then maybe i could fight lol
seems like there isn't a point in learning a weapon which is broken
It has been very good in the past but Ironmace seems to mess up dsync/hitboxes rather often these days with patches. Just last night the dsync felt better than ever while I was streaming personally
@oggieson ironmace is doing useless patches instead of fixing fondamental core game isssues
I main the longsword, not a class
Can confirm
Hehe no crystal sword 😂
Crystal sword actually hard to parry prior to animation updates, but I think the change will make it easier. We'll have to see in the near future lol
longsword is so unbalanced unreal, basekit warlock just 1hitting
Yeah not many people out there gonna an agree with that lol. Longsword is very mid tier in the game right now
maybe you got the bottom of the handle on the war maul parry it was just a smidge early on your end?
