Sorry to say guys but I'm a Briggs & Stratton engine fan, 31/2hp. 5hp, and , of course, the 71/2 hp rotortiller engine. All with the horizontal crankshafts. Neibghor kid brought over a Honda 90, Dad said it was to fast. So my buddy gave me a mini bike with the 3 hp engine. Of Course, I took off the governor. It held together for 5 weeks, broke the connecting rod. Then I put on the 5hp and changed the final gearing, a few teeth smaller. This worked pretty well till a valve cracked. On the the 71/2 tiller engine. I think it come from the factory with a bit bigger camshaft, much more raw power. B&S engines are just so much better and longer life to boot. Shave the head, High Performance Carb, then we are looking at almost 50mph. At 13 years old I learned to weld, on to gokarts. At first I was using the same B&S engines that I was using. To date, my biggest kart had on it a 2 cylinder snow-machine engine rated at 50 hp. Hot rear shaft, the clutch top end from the snow-machine and a driven pulley and belt. On blacktop, the machine would close to 80mph, would climb almost anything. Power donuts fast enough to make you very dizzy. Using ATV tires and rims, it was the run around the farm machine. The was controlled only by how much air was in the tires. This was an adult sized go kart on steroids. So guys come on. Back on the farm we pressed in to service the engines that were on hand, lawn mower, rotor tiller, and I think, one even came from a wood splitter. Most Tinkers and Home hobbiests had to make do with what was on hand. Not a lot of money but a problem solving brain that just wouldn't quit. When people ask, where did I get my kart.... I just love to say, with a big grin, "I built it myself". From one gearhead to another. Guys, Please keep coming out with more videos.
Ike won, he actually drifted more objects than John. However I gotta give John props on his control through the trees by the garage on his first lap, handled it perfectly.
its so tough to add boost to a non fuel injected small engine. you basically have to build a box around the carb or a complicated boost reference setup, changing the jets won't do it. The mechanical fuel injection is so friggen easy, carb hat and fuel pressure gauge is all you need.
Going with John on the win, not only faster but fearless when coming into the driveway from the first lap - crazy! Happy birthday Ike, and you guys be safe with the storm coming.
Great video and kart! I built a 49cc motorized bike and rode it for about 15 years. It was stolen, so I built a 66cc motorized bike, which I still own. Lots of fun!:)-John in Texas
hey fellas..i think Ike won the style part b/c his attempted 360 was more visable for us to see on the camera..however the speed part John you nailed that one..so in my opinion both of ya'll won...ya'll be careful with the storm coming in..much love from your neighbor in Bama
I’m just getting into go-karts at a late age. Because of you guys I’ve bought my first tool kit and I’m going to try to build a kart that will fit me. Please! Please! Please! Keep making videos, you both are the original “Shake and Bake”. When I’m done, I hope to run into you both in the street and dust you lol Au revoir
You can get more power if you make 2 holes on the sides at the bottom of the cylinder to release the exhaust pressure in the cylinder, you may need a non return valve, also if you put a turbine you can direct the exhaust to the turbine to give you additional power.
I just discovered your channel a couple days ago lol but dang im so happy i did because yall do some awesome stuff and ive been looking for one of these frames for years and your page led me to it!thanks for what yall do guys!
Happy Birthday Isaac mine was on the 4th of September. 28 lol I'm sure I'm a few years behind ya but still it's cool to know one of you guys have a b-day close to mine
Both races were very good so that makes this one difficult to decide. After giving it much thought and careful consideration, my vote goes to Ike on the race just cause he was able to power out of that wipeout without coming to a complete stop. Happy birthday Ike! 😁
Should have uploaded a video showing how to replace the engine on an old generator with a Predator... With Hurricane Florence on its way, I think it would have done well. I hope you guys have everything secured. Be safe.
To stop all that vibration you can use a piece of car tire under the motor with holes drilled through it. Match up the size if the motors mounting plate with a little over size, about 1/2 to 1.5 in, all the way around and just bolt it down. Use locking nuts, maybe 2, on each bolt so they don't come undone while riding. This will eliminate a ton of vibration and make it seem more stable and controllable on pavement and off road. You can also do this on the axle but its a little more tricky to do.
Arc 6773 is the correct billet rod for it. Sticker says its a ducar block. Piston has a recess cut for the exhaust valve. Valves look to be 27/24 if I recall. Lifters look larger than clone. Pushrods to upgrade have to be cut to fit I was told. The valve springs seem to be heavy duty I bought 26lbs replacements that don't seem as stiff as stock. Has auto style retainer clips. Shaft mounted rockers no stud.
Since the bolt wasnt tight it stretched. Thats where the slack came from in the first place which allowed the rod to bounce around and create extra extra wear.
Ike has my vote. It’s partly because he took flipping the mower and gettin some meannn road rash like a champ. But can’t forget about the legend Johnny boy, much love to both of you.
it looks like the sprocket is digging in the ground, Its very low! You both did great! As always, love the new and old videos. Actully this video is almost 5 years old lol! Still amazing job!!!
No need to polish the crank. Mix up some lye and water and dunk the crank overnight. The lye water will dissolve the aluminum, but won't touch the cast iron crank. All you have to do is ScotchBrite the leftover black stuff on the crank and BAM! No worries about undersizing the journal!
+The Bassman to me it seems they're all bum motors when..... there's no such thing as a lower rod bearing! IMHO what happened: got a little dry and heated up (chases more oil out!), aluminum expands (steel too), let the galling begin! maybe/IF they had a bearing with a hole and funnel shape aimed at the bearing's center, and an internal protrusion (in the case) for more oil to splash against and drip/pour right AT that funnel shape (and crank arms etc, keep it all WETTER) it'd greatly reduce the issue? oil gets slung vertical off the crank itself to wet the piston and cylinder wall anyway, so something aiming more oil directly at the lowed rod bearing... like a bundle of BIC cigarette lighter's flint springs maybe? the small coils would catch a whole lot and drip, surface tension and gravity helping put the oil where it needs to be. (not saying an engine doesn't need some run-in time too)
Ike won for style but lost timewise by 35 seconds. I think it would be ike. Sorry john. Better luck in the FUTURE😛😛 My attempt at a joke. Lemmeno if you get it
Very close, liked when John went through the trees by the garage, I liked the 360 by Ike. Ike was a little smoother, so I think he just edged out the win. Happy belated birthday to Ike! 🎂
Hey guys, it's Bob the builder from Cali again! That kart frame is identical to the "Monster" my kids and I built years ago w/ the 200 cc Honda three-wheeler motor adapted to it! Triple dog dare ya, again! Peace and cool beans. (Get-er-done!)
My vote is for Ike. He's just more smooth with his transition into & out of his drifts. Plus, no offense John, but from all the video's I watched it seems to me that Ike is more of the risk-taker between the two of you. He just seems to have more confidence in his driving ability. Either way, good race & great video guys looking forward to the next one. OH! Happy b-day Ike.
Good God this looks like so much fun. I grew up with a go cart but it was just a 6 hp Briggs. Seemed like it went like 20 or so. Looks like you could get at least 40 mph with that engine
Drone shots! Do it! Also groupies would be good. Disenfranchised Hotties sitting around looking at their phones. Ok, well, that one is optional, but Drone Shots! Drifting under a drone! You know I'm right!
I gotta give it to ike he may have had a slower time but he made up for it with style. I'm really digging that back to the future cart well guys take it easy and keep up the good work peace.
This engine will be perfect for the Coleman’s. How many HP was the 420cc build with torque converter? I’m thinking about a 301cc engine build. But the new engine y’all got is making 10Hp! How many total HP with torque converter? Keep up the good work guys
John was just alot more ballsy for lack of a better word. He was hanging it out there alot more going over the driveway and also the first lap when he slid it in close to the garage at the finish line there definitely more style sorry Ike you were doing great but if we are judging style John all the way
Ike won with style very smooth
ike was better
Also Ike was more consistent
agreed
Is ike won with style and driving skills lol but true.

After that flip, Ike wins by default. Sweet engine and cart pairing! Happy Birthday Ike!!
When is his twin's birthday?
Michael VanGundy the same day... that is why they are twins...
@@frankyalvarez7160
You need to learn when someone is using sarcasm. It's nice that you are trying to be helpful but my joke was a little thin.
Michael VanGundy lol
All Ike. Dam the time! Sorry John . That sprocket was just kissing grass lol. Hope the hurricane doesn't reach you guys. Good luck!
Ike won, he actually drifted more objects than John. However I gotta give John props on his control through the trees by the garage on his first lap, handled it perfectly.
Just some ideas for future projects. A sidecar on the Coleman. And a mini, polaris slingshot clone. Keep up the good work gents!
with those tillotson's you can get mechanical fuel injection from GPS which is perfect for....TURBO!
best comment on this channel ever
Single cylinder carburetor is the worst type of engine to turbo. Efi still might not help that much
Maybe with a boost referenced rrfpr but the ecotrons they used on the drift trike is a much better system. You just have to know how to tune
This comment needs more likes so they see this. Would be awesome to see some boost on this show!

First off, happy birthday Ike. John had the speed but this was a comp, Ike won with style. Now to wait till wed for y'all's next video. 😀
John for time and Ike for style. Glad to see Ike is doing better since the "Ragin Mower" episode. Hope you had a great birthday Ike!
IKE won .... how did the chain and sprocket survive being so low ?
SLAM BOY I know I was thinking the same 😂🏁
I was waiting for that 10hp to throw it off
Plenty of room on pavement. Just looks low in the grass. Less to mow!
Yea I was wondering as well
Grass juice lube !!
Do believe that both won, style, speed, and a awesome video!!! Happy bday Ike!
I have to give it to Ike...I feel like he showed more kart control throughout the run. Great vid guys...made my day and HBD Ike! #ikesgotballs
John all the way on this one. Catching air off of the hedge at 10:52 - wow!
I just pulled the trigger on one of these engines to replace my hemi predator. Can't freaking wait for it to show up!
How do you like it
Ike for style points, the 360 attempts were awesome. John, you were quick, but this was more about the drifting.
hey fellas..i think Ike won the style part b/c his attempted 360 was more visable for us to see on the camera..however the speed part John you nailed that one..so in my opinion both of ya'll won...ya'll be careful with the storm coming in..much love from your neighbor in Bama
I built a go kart with that motor but with the tillotson carb a header and intake. A 50 tooth sprocket and got 44 mph out of her. Great engine
Set up some cameras along the circuit for some good fly-by shots! 😁
brandon auppl yesssssss. Please
You both had style guys. I'm giving it to John as he was the first to brave the run flat out. Keep up the good work.
good times like that, with a good buddy's.. you both are winners. Good luck you guys.
I’m just getting into go-karts at a late age. Because of you guys I’ve bought my first tool kit and I’m going to try to build a kart that will fit me. Please! Please! Please! I think Ike won. He took a bit more time but smidge more style.
Ironically enough, the 10th is my bday, and I was eating carrot cake which is my favorite cake while watching this. Fantastic builds guys.
I think Ike has that, but good work to both of you. The cart is looking and driving great.
You can get more power if you make 2 holes on the sides at the bottom of the cylinder to release the exhaust pressure in the cylinder, you may need a non return valve, also if you put a turbine you can direct the exhaust to the turbine to give you additional power.
The sprocket is dragging across the ground 🤣
it will be fine, lol
It acts like the 3rd wheel on those incline trains. Provides more traction.
That motor combined with your torque converter and being straight out of the box really hammered for it's small size, very impressed.
Ike for style! Especially liked the drifts around the firepit lol
I just discovered your channel a couple days ago lol but dang im so happy i did because yall do some awesome stuff and ive been looking for one of these frames for years and your page led me to it!thanks for what yall do guys!
That is a great engine from gopowersports
I think Ike did well with fluid drifts
And John was just hauling butt
That Tillotson is sick!!!
Win goes to Ike for smooth, longer arcs, closer to 360. Happy bday and good to see you back from the mower roll.
John always wants a competition. Never wins one.
True dat.
Ike is the Master...
He has fun lol
Happy Birthday Isaac mine was on the 4th of September. 28 lol I'm sure I'm a few years behind ya but still it's cool to know one of you guys have a b-day close to mine

It's a tough decision, but I think John got it with that triple tree S pass, almost crashing into the garage, but it worked! Happy Birthday Ike!
Should have uploaded a video showing how to replace the engine on an old generator with a Predator...
With Hurricane Florence on its way, I think it would have done well.
I hope you guys have everything secured. Be safe.
Generator engines have special crankshafts. They are not interchangeable.
Ike and John could make it hapoen
JeepYJ91 or just get a new Tillotson generator
Yeah OK 70chevelle8
@@bryanroupe8646 generators, pressure washers and some water pumps all have tappered crankshafts.

Douglas Carver do you know what the shaft diameter is. I heard that it was 5/8 but if it fits the torque converter in the video then it would be 3/4
Since the bolt wasnt tight it stretched. Thats where the slack came from in the first place which allowed the rod to bounce around and create extra extra wear.

Ike has my vote. It’s partly because he took flipping the mower and gettin some meannn road rash like a champ. But can’t forget about the legend Johnny boy, much love to both of you.

I think ike won that one with the close wall drifts and style points. Sorry John. But happy birthday ike
Oh happy belated birthday Ike, thanks for the reminder John good looking on the cake for you buddy, enjoy.
Issac won ....he got closer to fixed objects. That makes drifting so much cooler
John because he had me with one eye open but you did good to ike lol I'll say a tie happy b day
John took that trophy. For sure when he passed over the driveway at the end of the first lap he got plenty of style points
Sweet go cart. I'd love it if my parents let me rip through there yard like that
No need to polish the crank. Mix up some lye and water and dunk the crank overnight. The lye water will dissolve the aluminum, but won't touch the cast iron crank. All you have to do is ScotchBrite the leftover black stuff on the crank and BAM! No worries about undersizing the journal!

John and Ike,I believe it was a close competition and you both had your own moves!
You guys be safe. This hurricane is gonna tear both of our asses up. Im in Wilmington.....
The "how many pulls" running gag, yay! Haven't been here for a while.
Make a drift go cart with a e-brake
E-brakes only lock the back tires. Budget karts only have rear brakes.
esqueue he mean a actual HAND brake like a lever
Just run a double caliper on a single rotor one for the pedal one for the handbrake
@@James-pn9rt why not just a handbrake?
So the pressure can be set on the petal for driving and a higher pressure one for drifting
I could watch these all day
Happy late birthday Ike. Also Ike won that one.
Guys please please please, small engine carbs explained. Right up Ike's alley. Love the vids. Keep emm coming...
Mayswell start calling ike DK cause he's the new drift king
I can believe you guys still have grass in that yard. Awesome Kart!
For me the winner is the “back to the future kart”
Cool stuff. Kinda hard to judge for me with the onboard shots but from what i did see Issac got it
Shouldnt u break in the engines before going full throttle
Thomas Lenhart suppose to but i never did
I personally just bolt and go wfo. I have never had an issue and I have 6 engines. Predator 212
they were meant to be pressure washer engines and such they will be fine
Eh Itll be fine
