Never understood people’s issues with 6th Camaro visibility. It always seems to be the one thing everyone goes back to when they look for issues with the car. Literally just adjust your mirrors and you will be perfectly fine. I came from a four door sedan when I got my Camaro and it took me all of 3 days to get used to the new visibility and all I did was properly adjust my mirrors outward enough to see behind/next to me at the same time.

I had to post this. I'm 5'11", just over 300 lbs. and 74 years old. Once I got used to it, I was comfortable and could see just fine. I'm amazed at all the people that gripe about visibility. I have a convertible and in good weather there's no issues at all. Getting in is a little different because I'm too fat but everything else is just as you would expect a sports car to be. I'm having the time of my life with it!

Exactly my point, when I first drove off the dealerships lot in my 2019 camaro my first reaction was the visibility is pretty bad. As soon as got home I readjusted the driver seat to my liking and the mirrors and took her back out on the road and it was like night and day visibility isn't the issue here it's your adjustments. 5 to 10 minutes was all it took to find that comfort zone.

Just got my black 2018 1lt Camaro and you hit all of the points that I was in fear of. When I test drove it at the dealership it wasn't enough time to truly get used to the vehicle! Now after having it for a few days, I'm completely used to the visibility. All it took was proper adjustments. Now I know what to tell others who I let drive. Make sure your adjustments are correct. Its like configuring video games settings to your advantage lol. I absolutely love my Camaro.

I don’t have the camera in my rear view and I have zero issues with visibility. I flare my side mirrors out a little wider than you. Just kinda the way I like it because it eliminates all the blind spots. If I want to see who’s behind me I use the rear view. But that’s all personal preference. Love your videos though sir. I’ve been watching you for a while now and all of them are extremely well put together and you hit topics that are everyday issues with life as a Camaro owner. Very honest and fair reviews of all your topics.

Since I don't have my car yet, I don't really have firsthand experience with this, but I remember sitting in a Camaro in an auto show and I didn't think the visibility was an issue. I also had a 5th gen Camaro for a bit as a demo when I worked at an auto dealership and I don't remember having any issues.
Reading the forums, and accounts from people that own the car, one common complaint seems to be the ability to see curbs, such as when in a parking lot. It seems like the height of the side windows makes seeing things on the ground like this a bit tricky. But as you said, it just takes being more aware of your surroundings and learning and understanding the car's dimensions to make it a non issue.
Still looking forward to (someday) getting my car, although I will admit one of the biggest reasons I went with a 2SS over a 1SS was to get the rearview camera!

    • @Gonin60

In any car adjusting the seats and mirrors is very important like you said
These cars are performance oriented not so much for creature comfort , but in my opinion the Challenger has the better visibility at least the front it also has acceptable comfort . Therefore is the overall the most daily drivable out of the three American muscle/sport cars

I just got approved for a loan on a 2023 2SS and I have never driven a Camaro before. The dealership is 351 miles away from where I live and it's in transport there and will arrive around April 14th. They are going to mail me the paperwork.I only wanted a 2SS because of the rear view mirror camera, and I looked for a few months around my city but couldn't find one. I hope they can drop it off at my credit union because I don't want to drive 5 1/2 hours to pick it up...but I will if I have to.

i was concerned about visibility on the camaro, always heard bad rep about it. honestly its not even bad after getting in one and driving one for like 10 minutes its fine, especially with the tech it has like the mirror camera and the sensors. I drive a miata 95 miata right now and that thing feels worse! and it doesnt have the tech to help it either. the poor visibility stigma for camaro's is a bit blown out of proportion . one thing i will say is that it does feel idk small/cramped inside because the door's windows are pretty small lol

Another great video, When I bought mine everyone said good luck being able to see out of that car. My response is learn how to set your mirrors. You shouldn’t be looking over your shoulder to look if there is a car in another lane, thats what your side mirrors are for not to look at your cars quaterpanel. I learned how to set my mirrors when i took my CDL because you can’t look over your shoulder in a big truck.

I think it was more of a complaint that came from 5th gens due to lack of technology to assist. No sensors, no backup camera mirror, etc. I only have 1 issue with visibility on my 5th gen, and it's where the mirrors can't see -- up front. The belt line is so high it's hard to tell where exactly the front wheels are. It's a weird feeling.

Excellent video. My personal experience is that the visibility in the Camaro isn't great, but you get used to it. There are cars that are even worse (talking about you, 370Z). Yes, you have mirrors and a backup camera, and I did make use of them, but I also like turning my head and looking with my eyes because mirrors and cameras don't see everything. Besides, the main feature I make use of is the Backup Sensors like my Mustang has. Those are the real helpers. Every vehicle has its weak points and strong points. You get used to it. Challengers are hard to squeeze and maneuver into tight spots. You get used to driving them after a while and adjust to their dimensions. The Mustang has an issue up front that no one talks about: You can't see the nose because of the slope of the hood. You get used to it.

Definitely something new for me, considering you said you raise the height of the seat 🤔🤔 because that's exactly what stopped me from buying a ZL1 I felt to low and looking forward from that position I couldn't correctly judge the front end cause I literally could not see it, and the sales rep said the seats only go back not up, he said there is no way to raise the height at which you sit, so is this only true in the ZL1? As we've discussed, I do think the visibility is poor. But, it's not very good in most sports cars - so there's that. Trying to look over your right shoulder to look for traffic in the right lane - you can't see anything. Not an ideal way to drive a car. That said, blind spot monitoring will help a lot. Plus, the car overall is far more like sitting in a dark bunker (as compared to say a Mustang). All that said, I will give you the point that most enthusiasts could get used to it (like most things in life that aren't ideal) with time. I think it's the broader market that is just sort-of willing to consider a pony car for fun that is more likely to be turned off I suspect.

I hear that argument a lot and its annoying as hell, after owning my Challenger and now my Camaro... I see just fine, the visibility isn't any worse than that Mopar..infact for my its better because of how I sit in the car, I don't have the sharkfin cam and I reverse just fine.... I think folks that complain about it just want to something to say to make their car of choice seem superior....

You don't need the technology. Buy a sedan if you want technology. Also the sunroof is not quite elegant. The blind spot monitor is good but I have a sedan for that kind of technology. I like the 1SS 1LE a lot more.
