  • In this video I finally upgrade the turbo inlet pipe on my TT. This is a critical part in the turbo system and it tremendously enhances the look of the engine bay. I am super excited to finally replace this part as it has been on my list of Todo's for a while. I have gotten alot of comments asking how I find boost leaks, so I thought now would be a great time to go through my process of how it find them on the 1.8 platform. This isn't a perfect method, by any means, but it's a great summary of all the issues/common problems that I have ran into. Hopefully you all find it helpful if you run into similar issues.
    We are getting so close to 1000 subscribers it's actually insane.
    I can't thank you all enough for the support. :)
    Thank you for watching

    Would love to see videos for installing a new boost gauge or any and all other parts. I bought my TT a few months ago and have never had a car with a turbo before so this is all a bit new to me and your videos have been super informative and helpful.

    Great video! Im currently on the hunt for a boost leak on mine aswell, my TT has lost some power and also holds the revs for a few seconds instead of going straight down when I shift gears. Excited for more videos to come!

    Great content buddy. Boost leaks can be a real pain on the TT. The TIP often goes soft and causes issues. After all, these cars are many years old. I just dropped you an email about a project between our channels ;)

    Excellent video!
    Easy to watch.
    Good advice regarding isolating the leak.

    Lols… My selector fork just broke in my 6speed….Gulpppp!!😂😂😂
    I’m removing the gearbox myself.😐😐😐😂
    Looking forward to your next upgrade video…

      Ha I put in the latest version of selector forks in.
      1st-5th selector forks fit, but you still have to use the original reverse and 6th gear selector forks.
      The new versions are full steel and robot laser welded.
      No rivets holdings different incompatible materials together, like bronze alloys and steel.

    Another interesting video, Hunter, thanks. Your attention to detail does you credit. I especially liked the diagnostic flow chart.
    I have another recommendation for you. Adjustable rear control arms are another transformative modification to the TT. There isn't enough adjustment of rear camber angle otherwise, meaning the car's chassis balance is always towards understeer. Most people concentrate on power mods but the greatest deficiency the Mk1 TT suffers from is in the handling department. The HPA controller and the increased negative camber at the rear have improved my car's handling beyond belief.
    Congratulations, in advance, for nearly 1000 subscribers! Best regards. :-)

      I installed on mine. Big difference

    • @crikeymikey3691
      @crikeymikey3691 2 роки тому +1

      @@moncier77 All the TT's grip, in standard form, comes from the front. Most of the weight is there, and the quattro system is asleep much of the time meaning it has all the worst traits of a FWD chassis. The extra negative camber at the back brings the rear into play, effectively dialling out some of the front end push, of which there is plenty otherwise.
      I suspect US and Canadian owners are less bothered about handling, but for UK and other European countries it's more of a benefit perhaps.
      If you get an HPA haldex controller (somewhat ironically, a Canadian company) the transformation is complete.
      Keep running with wind! ;-)

      I am glad to hear someone liked the flow chart haha. I always find procedural processes helpful so I was hoping someone else would too. I really appreciate the support. I also like the sound of adjustable control arms:) I will start looking into those and try and get them to show up when I get the coilovers. The HPA controller also sounds like a really great upgrade! Thank you again!

    I recommend you to replace your front grill. I had the same one as you have, and replaced it with the facelift one (the one with the 3 spokes). I painted it completely glossy black, with the Audi rings black as well. It makes such a big difference. To replace it, it's said that you need to remove the bumper, but I actually managed to do it without removing it. You only need some acrobatic hands and reach from the bottom cooling trim.

    • @HunterDirection
      @HunterDirection  2 роки тому +1

      That sounds like a fantastic idea. I will try and find one soon so I can put it on while I have the bumper off for the front mount:) thanks for the support!

    Love your videos, they are so useful. I am currently having some boost issues and replaced my n75, however since replacing the n75 it has lost a lot of power and feels like it might even be in some kind of limp mode. Would appreciate any advice if you get the time 👍🤞

    • @HunterDirection
      @HunterDirection  Рік тому +1

      You sound like you're on the right track. Depending on what n75 you put in they have very different rates they ramp up boost. I know the "race" n75 has a tendency to make the car think it is overboosting and toss them into the 5psi limp mode. Do you have a tune or boost gauge?

    Mines is only -10 vac on start up and only boosts to 10 psi in 1st and 2nd but takes ages to build up to 22psi in 3rd but will get there, It does also flutter…. Do you think that’s just a small boost leak coming from the diverter valve side of the vacuum system?

  • @HERMIR

    How do you prevent the cold air intake sucking hot air? My engine bay gets hot, so I'm afraid to put a cold air intake, and how do you detect boost leaks without a gauge? This audi is my first car, so I don't know what to look for or feel the loose of power

    I have cooling fan issue with my mk1 tt 225. Until now I replaced thermostat coolant temp sensor cooling fan switch. All these parts are aftermarket. While checking temp 49C temp goes up to 104 or 105 and fan turns on.

    • @brianchoi86
      @brianchoi86 2 роки тому

      When A/c is on both fans are turning on. I searched low speed fan should turn on around 85 to 90 C' and now I am about to replace cooling temperature module. I remember watching water pump impeller fail video but it was already replaced and thermostat opens fine. Do you have any idea what could be wrong?
