I'll put this to the test tomorrow Riaz! I am giving a presentation at the summit hosted by the Vancouver Foundation and will also be introducing 2 important guests.
Excellent! If you can source two specific, emotionally powerful stories about these guests for their respective introductions, you can humanize them and connect your audience to them before they've said a word :) Message me back and let me know how this goes for you. In your corner :) Good luck!
Soooo important to have a good HOOK. I really learned this for my first TEDx talk. I studying it inside and out and since then, I got the hang of it for intro's :)
Don't miss 4.06, a great example incorporating everything a 30 secs hook needs! Some of us beginners like me will take some time to 'accept' and 'blend it to our new 'authentic-self'. When you started in your TV and presnting career, how you adapted to this tips? was it by trial and error or you had a coach to give the best framework right off the bat? Thanj you Riaz for yet another valuable video!
Capturing the audience attention is so so important! Your second tip is very interesting and I never considered it. That's definitely something I'll be more mindful of from now on.
This is by far, the best quick presentation advise I have ever seen on this platform. I am in a asynchronous course and plainly emailing a PPT presentation with notes as if I was breifing, essentially a virtual presentation with no video that is to be graded. My dilemma is what format should I write the notes and if I should put in text citations or just leave all alone on the reference slide. The examples and templates do not specify, any thoughts or advice?
Your videos are generally influential, informative with great passion in your voice that is inspiring. Why, what, how, and when are the core foundations of all aspects in life implementing critical thinking and problem solving creatively! Everybody need to consider and not just the speakers. I do enjoy your enthusiasm in sharing your thoughts. Best of luck to you Riaz🙏
Hello professor Thank you so much for your priceless advice and interesting guidance. I really appreciate your job. I wish you peace and happiness under the sky of prosperity. Your follower from Algeria
Great video Riaz. I have seen great speakers starting with either a story or something funny or a stat. It may depend on your audience and the environment. What do you think?
I'm a fan of story right off the top. I've found it's the most effective way to transport your audience to an emotional place that helps connect you to the people listening to your message.

Glad it could help.
I like how you said to answer the Y before the other questions when speaking to an audience. I think it captures peoples’ attention better.
Thanks for the feedback!
