The basement is completely dry and the smell is gone , at least for the most part of the year. However , when the house is closed with no ventilation even if it's for a couple of hours , there's a musty smell build-up and the longer it stays closed , the smells gets more severe. What could be the issue ? Thanks.
My problem is condensation , but thankfully it's not my owned home it's where I'm renting , 🤦🏻♀️some people are so quick in wanting cash that they just build without truly securing the place making sure nothing like this happens ,how I know it's not a mistake? My landlord house is next door and it's fully equipped with everything to prevent any mold or damages ,heck even a fire extinguisher they got

Hello 👋 I don’t know if you have mould but you definitely have too much moisture/ condensation. You need to get a dehumidifier as they suck out the moisture from the room. And open the windows everyday and put the heating on sometimes to dry out the room 🙏✨

I had this issue when my dehumidifier could not cover the whole basement. So it depends on how much sqft coverage can the dehumidifier cover. Do you happen to have a crawl space in addition to your basement? This could cause for the fast fill-up of that moisture in your dehumidifier.
We had a toilet leak from the supply line having a crack in it. Found this about 3 weeks ago. Not sure how long it’s been leaking. We had a plumber replace it. He said it wasn’t enough damage to cause major problems. We are smelling a musty smell. Worse in the morning time. We’ve dried that water leak area out. No mold is growing. Subfloor is OSB. Did not feel soft or wet when we checked just a couple days ago. What could still be causing this smell? .
I had a pipe bust in December of 22 in my attic and house was cleaned and dried house has not been repaired yet waiting on a contractor but when I go inside the house it smell like mold after awhile I got to get out the house it never smelled like that before the pipe bust.

Hi, i am staying at a rental in a new building (i am the first tenant) and i would smell a gust of odor for a time and then it’ll be gone. I’ve still yet to identify the time and exact spot where it may be coming from (i am unable to tell what the source is but it’s usually concentrated in one area wc is pretty large then is gone when i take a step away from that spot, it’s hard to investigate). I also have a hard time having maintenance folks over because the smell is inconsistent (it’s there then it’s not and i have not identified a pattern yet) but i smell it daily. I am really having a hard time dealing with this. Would you know what the potential cause is? It’s not the bathroom nor the kitchen (the smell is in the general area of the kitchen but when i move closer to the drains or under the sink, the smell isnt there) Sorry for the long comment; am just really struggling w this and will need all the help i can get. 😅 thank youuuu
It's always the basements that will have smell or odors but in my room I have my mattress on the floor and I smell it :( it's making me feel uncomfortable.
Kristy Marie well we had a skylight also and it was leaking but we didn’t know (that was after we bought it and signed) that cost us 2k $. I definitely say make them fix it and be there!!!! Do not buy a house if you think there is mold!
You may want to get professional to get it clear. I’m in my new house and I smell it and it’s giving me headaches, trouble in breathing, and not being able to focus due to the smell.
@@mytravls same, but I researched and my problem is my fireplace, cracks and letting air in causing moisture, the smell is so musty it’s driving me crazy
@@cradl3d yeah, after an ER visit due to heaviness. I’ve been fine. Doctor diagnosed dust mites. Thankfully, no major issues but my home gets lots of dust and draught. In my case, earlier the contractor peed and never flushed it right. Or may be the home had been closed foe a long time so whe n I moved in all the gases came up.

dehumidifier only gets rid of humidity in the room it will not remove mold. If you have no mold, it prevents mold from growing. dehumidifier package tells what size will be good for your room. How do you know that you have mold? have you done air quality test? it cost $500 to $700. If you have visible mold, it needs to be properly removed.
My upstairs smells ok but I know I have a humidity issue in my basement. I have a dehumidifier in the basement. I empty 1 bucket a day. What else can I use? Lmk
Dehumidifier is really going to be your best friend but it may make sense to invest in one with a house you can tie into a drain if you have one somewhere in the basement so you don't have to keep emptying it
damp is a smell that disgusts me no end I smelt it in a restaurant and chucked our dinner. Have no washing machine and I can't eat in the kitchen I'm an athlete and I jusr can't stand the smell. I'm going to try use a neighbours machine or get hand wash. One ignoramus told me go to my parents. I pay rent and my parents have a right to their own space. I need a diet why now. Sigh.

Same case try to fix what causes the wet walls, sometimes the plastered walls get bad smell when they are wet like if you pour water in the cement
