Some people got toxic mold in the walls of their brand new homes without a water leak due to the builder leaving the wood outside in the elements for too long. Water - humidity got to the wood and thus mold. The builders still used the wood to frame the houses. Later on people are living in it and starting to get sick.

    • @TaelonSHU
      @TaelonSHU Рік тому +7

It's not just wood outside. All the cement, plasterwork and exposure during construction leaves the walls with a high moisture content in the first year of a new house. Which is know to cause mold.
Haven't read any official solution about it. But maybe getting a strong dehumidifier and setting it at the right rh% could help prevent mold and create a controlled drying process.
You probably shouldn't set the rh% too low either as that could cause a too big of a difference resulting in the plaster coming loose. But maybe it's fine.

@@TaelonSHUConcrobium is a solution that kills mold, and I recall Home Depot had a mold fogger in their tool rental department that you’d fill with this stuff and it atomizes it. People would use it for flooded basements or crawlspaces, but seems like it would be good if builders owned these, and used them for every new build. Would be so inexpensive, but I’m sure none of them do it. As a buyer, though, it would be a really good idea to do this before moving in, just so be on the safe side.

@@PoissonDemiVide does concrobium penetrate into porous materials.to.kill mold?
Going back to my previous message.
A huge cause of mold in new construction in the Netherlands are.
      1. Construction goes to fast, not allowing each element to dry before applying the next.
      2. Placing the windows in too fast (was especially with factory made walls). This blocks a lott of airflow and thus requiring power hungry dehumidifiers.
      3. Construction defects; causing small leaks in the roof/window or connecting the plumbing/heating incorrectly...so simple yet so Common.
We also have a very wet climate which doesnt help either.

    • @PoissonDemiVide
      @PoissonDemiVide 8 місяців тому +4

@@TaelonSHU I do believe it does, as most people use the solution in a spray bottle for smaller areas. You simply spray it, and no need to rinse. Different materials call for different dilutions of the solution with water. It will not take care of any staining, though. It’s only meant to kill mold. Many think bleach will kill mold, but they’re mistaken. Hopefully, you’re able to find this product in the Netherlands. If not, surely you can buy it online. Good luck!

I bought a house passed all inspections. There were no signs of mold other than severe health problems developing . We drilled holes in the walls and looked inside with a long camera. Fast forward today and we have removed over 800 square feet of mold that was inside the walls and floor. The whole house had to be gutted down to the studs in every room. Apparently the roof had been leaking badly at one point and the house was vacant, and then was “remediated” by a professional. You cannot just clean and put paint on mold it has to be removed

Thank you for all this information. I’ve not come across anyone actually showing how to get rid of it the right way. I ended up very sick from my car because Subaru neglected my maintenance plan and left the faulty condenser and over 1.5 years of it leaking I and my pet got severe mold toxicity. We are now I. Recovery mode since I was able to on point the symptoms and start of it. And thanks to my 10 pound service dog Chihuahua. He was the one who alarmed me that it was the car because I was thinking so many other things that the sicknesses could be and he started digging in my car like crazy person and he no longer wanted to get in the car and I use my car for delivery services and all those types of jobs and he was being so difficult and then it hit me that wait a second He’s trying to tell me something and then when I thought about it a little more deeply over the next week boom it hit me. I said 0MG Subaru is that fault for this? They have caused this to happen because they won’t fix that damn leaky condenser and then I pulled up With a mask and with proper gear although that been way too late because I was extremely sick but anyways, I still did I looked. I pulled up the trim on the car door on the right side where the condenser was leaking and I was absolutely horrified at what I saw. It was like a little monsters were laying in there like my car was toxic wasteland so I do agree everybody please use the proper gear. Please take proper precautions because it is scary how fast and rampant this stuff can grow on you and you and on your family and you don’t want to hurt them further than what damage already has been done. Listen to this man when he tells you this, he is speaking the truth and it’s very serious Speaking from my experience so once again, thank you so very much so gracious to you and your information and your knowledge and may you and your family have a wonderful super blessed year.!

We actually had toxic mold in a wall that WASN’T from a water leak. It was from improper drywall installation. First, regular drywall was installed under the tile. 2, a gap want not left between the drywall and tub lip therefore the dream acted like a sponge cause toxic mold. My case is kind of rare but wanted to throw it out there as we never had a water leak that caused our toxic mold problem…. Good video though. The indication we had is I got very sick. And no one could figure out what was going on. A health couch suggested we look into toxic mold. And there was some tile that didn’t look flush. It actually looked very minor and barely noticeable. That’s how we found it. 3 years since then and in still in recovery.

What if you live in an apartment and think you have black mold?
I live in Hawaii where it's very humid. I think there's been water damage in the walls because one storm there was water leaking out of an electric outlet in the kitchen. (property management has since "repaired it. they also said there has been leaking in the roof for some time so apparently that was the signal to finally fix it) I have lived in that apartment complex for about 6 years and moved between units, and when I moved to this particular unit my "allergies" became the most unbearable, extreme allergies I've ever experienced. So it isn't just the area I'm allergic to, it's this particular unit. When I went to look at the top of my refrigerator for the first time, it was covered with black colored mold. I used bleach to remove it but didn't use any kind of protection and now I'm worried. I'm making an appointment with my doc about my symptoms but I wonder what obligations do property managers have for this.

Perfectly well explained video. I learned a lot. Thank you so much. I have a leak coming from somewhere in the roof that is causing black mold ? to grow on the side of a wall up next to the ceiling. I am trying to figure out how I can best tackle it. Would this be black toxic mold or just surface mold like you say in your video ? I put plastic adhesive tape on it to contain its spores and I am going to put a plastic barrier around to prevent its spores from spreading. I was going to spray it with bleach, but since I put tape on it to contain it I will just cut a large area around it and then put a piece of new sheetrock on it. We had a couple of water problems in the bathroom. The water went into four rooms, but I used dehumidifiers to dry up the air. The air temperature was cold about 25 degrees, I was freezing, so I know the cold temperature helped me. There are no other signs of black or surface mold in the walls, but I am still suspicious. I have to break some of the walls around to see what is behind. We do not have real " professionals :" in our area so I am forced to do it myself.

    1. Changing corrugated iron roofing on the bedroom side
    2. Sealing grooves on corrugated iron roof.
    3. 2 to 3 roof experts came to re-do previous works.
    Nothing worked.
In the past 2 months, I've noticed growths like algae, mould, mushroom-looking plants growing on the ceiling and drying on the ceiling. These were removed today.

Yet my mother is trying to stop me trying to clear as much as possible.
Since the authority built a group of homes and block daily sunshine sending UVC and evaporizing heat, the flat becomes so wet... ... and over the years, the entire block of flat in black mold, and many sick and weak and died... ...
I know Singapore is finished... ... so decades ago I intended to leave after the coming Pacific war but... ... now I have to SOS here!
Anyone can help save me and my poor boy to move us to Europe to start afresh, I will be so glad!
    SOS??!!!
You see, the government controlled media is starting to block my email to them... ... and yeh... ... the now really lousy government which is broken has been rather hostile. So even if they relocate the entire block of residents, we will still be facing equally worse health hazards and other threats.
Humans shouldn't be stuck with pigs.
SOS... ... Me and my boy need to leave! And we will need help!

As a previous landlord tenants not opening windows as don’t want to lose heat in winter annoys me to heck.
    * most damp is condensation caused. Open windows, don’t cover up house air vents.
    * Dont dry clothes in house and if you do use an heated tent to do so. Low electricity and dry clothes properly.
    * purchase a evaporator as breathing causes excess moisture if no ventilation.
Common sense and responsibility. Renters , use some !
    * land lord Of course houses should have vents and no leaking drain joints etc. also give tenants paperwork to understand evaporation to help …. Win win

Landlord, add proper ventilation to your units (24 hour fans), consider an ERV to manage moisture and reduce the energy penalty of ventilation. Ensure windows, etc. are high quality and installed properly so they don't cause condensation. Blaming your tenants is a cop-out.

Good news is that it only was about an inch on the floor in a laundry room and I got it out in 20 minutes with a shop vac, but 2 days later, it smells pretty "damp". Does mold have a smell? I had a leak and took a while to find and fix. The dirt outside my house, next to the bathroom where the leak was located was wet. Not swampy, but definitely wet. I had dryers and air blowers in my house for about two months. It's been over a year since this happened. It smells a little sewery still. The leak was in the water, not sewer, line. Again, this happened last year. I don't see any mold on that outside wall, in the bedroom adjacent to that bathroom, nor in that bathroom. I'm not sure if the soil under the foundation is still wet from a year ago. Any thoughts? P. S. What are the symptoms of exposure? Thanks.

Have you tried a good dehumidifier unit? I am in the process of attempting to eliminate the mildew smell in an old house I bought. Before purchasing, when I saw the house, the occupants had incense burning to cover the smell. I have since recognized a bigger problem going on. I had the plumbing turned off, after noticing a leak down to the crawl space and had the moldy insulation pulled out. That area has been _"drying"_ for a few months and I have a dehumidifier on that floor and the one above, that pulls out nearly a gallon of water every 4-5 hours. Seems to be doing the trick, but I want to attach a drainage hose and let it run 24 hours for a week to see if it improves a lot. I am also looking at mold defoggers, but have not used any yet.
Where I live, there is 1 supposed mold remediation specialist, and after getting a quote of $5k from a referral service (which I would have gone for, if they were not flakey), I never heard from him after providing my info during a conversation with the referral service.
Hoping to conquer this mold problem!

Stronger ozone generators use plates (you run those when you're not in the home) and weaker ones use UV lights and you can use those while you're in the house. These can be purchased for as little as 50 dollars. A good one may cost 150 or so. See a natural medicine doctor (acupuncturist, chiropractor, naturopath or functional medicine expert) for your health problems. Call them first and make sure they know how to deal with environmental health issues like mold. Also, make sure your room air does not go above 50% percent humidity. All these will keep room air controlled until you can move elsewhere or the problem is solved.

Not until it eats all the way through the wall, which could take years. The least intrusive way would be a borescope camera. Like he said, check the baseboards and the bottom side of the drywall, The water usually runs down to the bottom. If you see anything, you should probably get someone to pull the wall (or DIY, with the steps he listed). You could also cut a small hole in the drywall and check the back side.

You have to move out. That's what we did, twice, unfortunately. Also be careful of your items. Toxic Mold spores contain tiny particles called "Mycotoxins" that make you incredibly sick, and will spread like wildfire (like a gas); contaminated items can cross-contaminate clean ones. We unfortunately learned this lesson the hard way. The only solution for us was to throw away everything we owned, and start over in a clean place from scratch. (For personal items that could not be replaced, we fogged them with mold and mycotoxin denaturing solutions, and then put them in sealed plastic bins, then into storage).
