A helpful tip would be to mix in larger quantity in a large bowl. Find some small used plastic containers to drill small holes in the lids. Fill said containers with mixture so if for some reason they get knocked over by a creature (my cat) it won't be a mess to clean up.

Interesting tip. Seems simple enough. I'd like to know, though, how fast does the coarse salt dissolve? And also, I'm trying to figure out what a fabric softener and clove would smell like. They don't sound to be compatible smells? Around the holidays I like to take a big orange and push cloves all around it. That is truly a divine smell for Fall and Winter.

When I was a teen my friend and I hated this potpourri scent at her house. It was the kind you ad water and flower petals to and is heated when plugged in. It smelled like cheap dollar store bathroom fell scents. One day she had this great idea, she would put a piece of her shit in the potpourri and let it steam out so her mom would stop using it. A day later a fresh pot was back in it, so she did it again. I was crying from laughter every time someone would comment on the smell of the potpourri. Her mom kept making us smell the bag to see if it’s rotten and tried maybe 4 times to make a new batch but the stuff kept ending up smelling like an outhouse so she finally stopped and tossed it all.

Clean doesn't have a smell, so there's never a need to add layers of neurotoxic chemicals that also contain endocrine and other organ disruptors, respiratory irritants, eye irritants, skin irritants, carcinogens, etc. to the air to try to mask whatever odors you have happening.
I sure hope there aren't any kids or pets in the home. Just keep it clean with non-toxic fragrance-free cleaners (not "green" cleaners with essential oils, as they're even more potent and also harmful to many). A realtor (and any adult with common sense) should really know better. When folks walk into homes and smell all of the fragranced chemicals, they'll be wondering what you're trying to hide. Bake something, use a simmer pot with spices/citrus/etc., get an air purifier, open some windows.
Truly "clean and fresh" never comes from a bottle of laboratory engineered chemical concoctions, but indoor air pollution surely does - as well as outdoor as you pump it out of your dryer vents and it drains out of your washer into the water ways. You may not feel immediate effects, that you're aware of, because the symptoms of exposure mimic many other illnesses, but the cumulative effects will eventually take their toll in the most uncomfortable way(s).

Inconstinance is more common as we age. At 75 I know! I use a lot of incontinence pads and sometimes adult diapers. Still there are leaks even using these. I mop a lot with vinegar and water. I am definately going to try the coarse salt mixed with fabric softner and cloves.

Great tip!! From Virginia..... I use Fabric softener to wipe down the vinyl surfaces in my car after sanitizing it and some of my furniture after testing a small area. Just a small amount on a soft cloth, leaves a nice scent in the house and when areas heat up or gets warm.....the scent is enhanced!!

I sometimes do that around my home with a favorite body lotion, wipe off dining room chairs, base boards around the house. Seat cushions on couch and loveseat, I have to use caution so I don't strip any furniture. I like the fabric softener sheets as well, fresh and used, gets up tons of dust...

Beware of what you spread all over your environment that is toxic and then you breathe it in your lungs that’s how people get lung cancer you don’t have to be a smoker to die of lung cancer. You just got to be around a lot of chemicals I wouldn’t put fabric softener on anything it’s all toxic. Go buy some essential oils that are healthy. You’ll get a much better results and live longer to enjoy it.

I just use a mix of long lasting floralfabric conditioner and water in a spray bottle, just spray the curtains and fabrics a little in the morning, and your house smells fresh all day. It's also good on clothes and bedding if they've been stored a while. If you're a non smoker with a car, do this in the car ash trays but use those dessicated gel bead packets instead of salt, or facial cleansing pads because salt and cars don't mix.

Try cleaning that area a little more and cover where she sits, you can launder that frequently. Peroxide helps to break down the enzymes. A Bowl of vinegar in the room can help to absorb odors too. Good luck!

Same here. Spices are wonderful for both our senses and health. The chemicals in fabric softener aren't good for us. We don't think much of it when we're younger, all we know is it smells fresh. As we age and begin suffering the consequences from exposure to it we realize just how foolish it was to ignore the warnings.
