Before shooting this video my microphone fell on the ground and for some reason the audio sounds horrible. Sorry about that, will have it fixed by next week.
Great tips Billy. Now here is one for you. Do not use the internal Hyperlaspe features. Just kidding, I think the footage is a little jerky if you ask me. I would rather use a technique I am working on.
Great video, but I've got an even BIGGER tip for you! I posted here before I got my Mavic 2 Pro, and everyone was telling me about getting fly time in before my conference in San Diego. Unfortunately, that did not happen, so I did a quick test in my hotel room, and when turning it on for the first time, I managed to swap the control sticks!! This is HUUUUGE! Why has nobody talked about this feature? I play TONS of first person shooters and I'm used to having the left stick control movement. Forward, backward, strafe left, strafe right. The right stick is used for looking around. In this case the right stick up and down is for the height of the drone and left, right is to turn the drone left and right. This is a GAME CHANGER!! I was flying the drone around with no problems. I took it out around 2am so I wouldn't disturb anybody and had a blast! Man, this thing is soooo cool, and I'm glad I found out that I can change the controls to something I'm used to, like playing Call of Duty. Thanks again for all the videos, they helped me out a bunch!! I should have a video up soon on my channel with my first drone flight footage. I can't wait to edit!!
NIce Billy, I'd like to add that even though you get a little white dot (place marker) on the mobile screen while using the "touch pan" feature, it's nearly impossible to recenter the gimbal perfectly by sliding your finger back to that dot. So Part 2 of this TIP would be use one of your other programmable buttons to make your gimbal do a full up and down tilt, then pressing that button twice will recenter your gimbal back to perfectly forward facing.
Thanks. Didn't know about the firmware shortcut. When I found the short press for focus I changed the C2 button to "Close Tips" (hadn't seen that one before either). Now I don't have to take a hand off the controller to tap the screen to clear all the annoying notifications like the high wind warnings.
Another tip is you can turn off the return home beeping sound by pressing the on/off button on the remote once while the drone is coming back to your postion.
Some users say that the precise landing was not incorporated in the 2. To land precisely it is important to take off and go up at least thirty feet and pause for a few seconds. It will take a great photo of the launch pad and land precisely where it took off from,
Good tips Billy, I went with the M2PRO and the touch screen to move the gimbal was a great idea from DJI but i assume it only works in video? I do a fair amount of still photography and I haven't tried yet but normally when you touch the screen in photo mode it acts as the focus. It would be great if you could still move the gimbal this way while taking pictures without having to turn the drone. Have you tried it yet?
I am looking for a tip on the best way to change the shutter speed without opening the camera menu. On the old Mavic Pro I could do it quickly by using the rolling "button" on the controller. The new setup is for the aperture and I can't seem to find a way to customize that "button". Great video, and thanks for leading the charge in educating us on this new drone. it is a lot more different than I expected.
I have both the Pro & Zoom updated to the most recent firmware. I tried the "finger drag" to pan the camera on my iPad Pro (11.4.1) and it did not work. It does work on my Samsung S7 so I'm not sure if this is an Android only vs iOS feature. It is a nice feature as Billy describes as being able to keep your front/rear sensors engaged in obstacle avoidance while panning. I however never use my phone so I hope this feature will be available for my iPad soon.
Hey Billy ... did I see on another website someone connected a iPad mini to the controller on a Mavic 2 Pro the same as you would a phone ?? If so can you do a video connecting that. Thanks
Hey Bro. What is it you prefer on the 2 Zoom Vs the 2 Pro? I’ve heard in one of your videos you use the zoom more frequently? Is it just the zoom feature? Only ask because I found the 1” sensor to be a HUGE benefit to Me
No, sorry if you heard that, I use the Pro over the zoom unless I absolutely need that optical zoom. The 1 inch sensor is everything to me and the dynamic range is far superior. That hassleblad color science is game changing in a portable drone!
Thanks for the video. Would you recommend the Mavic 2 pro for someone who has no experience with flying drones? Should I start with the mini? I’m not too concerned about the price.
Well, I don't think he's gonna answer you anytime soon but mavic 2 pro is literally a pro consumer drone. It literally says it in the name. It's meant for professionals. So if you're just starting off not knowing anything about drones I recommend you getting either the dji spark, mavic air, mavic mini. However tho, dji spark just released mavic air 2. And the drone is great, it's mid range. So I'd say it isn't for beginners, and isn't for pros as well. Even tho it packs better specs over the mavic 2 series. the mavic 2 has more manual control with the camera. So if you're not all about that. The mavic air 2 should be good for you. But learn in an open Field, and not somewhere where there's crowds of people or buildings.
Awesome tips! The compass calibration tip was the best one in my opinion. I'm forever having to remember where to go in the menu to calibrate it. Now I know I can easily to it with a flip of a switch..... Literally
I have two questions: I've ordered Mavic Pro 2. Is there an SD card in the box like it was in Mavic Pro? And, my Mavic Pro tells me to calibrate its downward vision sensors from the app. Where can I find that option in the app? I've checked everywhere but it isn't there. Thanks in advance.
The two button method of binding remote to the drone is in one of DJI's tutorials for the M2. The half-press for auto-focus I believe is in the manual. If not there, in one of the tutorials. The left-swipe doesn't seem to work on an Android. At least not on a phone. Quick access to compass calibration is cool. They could step that up and go for the menu just before it where you can select IMU calibration as well.
My when I press the button to turn it on gimbal it doesn't move and the light on the legs either but the motors move..I tried the DJI assistant but it doesn't read it any suggestions please
On the Zoom version, can the speed of the zoom be modified in the menus somewhere? And, can it be made to "easy-ease" into or out of a zoom, rather than just hard-stopping at one end or the other?
Billy I’ve seen a couple of videos describing how to pan the camera and it seems fairly simple, but no matter what I try I personally haven’t been able to accomplish it. I can’t figure out what I could be doing wrong. Thought it might be my device, but I’ve used both iPad and iPhone and does work with neither. I’m I the only one that’s having this problem?
Love the calibrate tip. Such a hassle to navigate to the calibrate compass feature on the p4p. Don’t know why the Mavic Pro did’t have the photo button half press as a feature to focus. Silly
I’m looking to adjust the horizon start point when capturing still panoramic on the Mavic Pro 2. I’ve tried manually pitching the gimbal to the desired angle (20% downwards) but every time I shoot in pano mode it returns to the central horizon point. Am wondering if there’s a hidden feature to correct this.?
Dear Billy, those five tips are wonderful! Recently, I met a problem with flying in hyperlapse course lock mode, and the result became depressed and annoying. The day when I was flying Mavic 2 Pro, the weather condition was, nice not too windy, but after the video came out, I found out foreground was bumping up and down, back ground was so so, but not as good as normal flying. I use FCPX for editing and tried my best to fix the problem, but failed. Have you ever met this problem before? If you did, could you tell me what caused that bumping up and down and how did you fixed it. Thank you for your sugestions. Or maybe I set the wrong shutter speed?
Good tips. First video from your page that i've watched, and LOVED seeing that CC Philly footage! Recently relocated to Jacksonville FL from the 215, so that was fun. Also just started using the mavic2zoom for work and went looking for tip vids. Thnx.
Here is a couple of suggestions I would like DJI to incorporate. 1. In the "P" mode have ALL collision sensors turn on or make it in the menu what collision sensors you can activate. This would keep you from flying sideways in a tree. 2. I would like to swap the settings in "LEFT" gimbal dial so I would rotate it to the "right" to point the camera down and rotate it "LEFT" to bring the camera back up.
Firmware upgrade/downgrade is very good to know! That's the only reason why I don't upgrade, because I don't want to connect to my computer if the upgrade has a bug... Thanks!
I have a DJI Mavic 2 Zoom. I tried this with my iPad Mini 4 and it did not work. I was in the static mode and not up in the air. This shouldn't make any difference.
I want my drone back so muchhhhh. It's been at repair for 4 days, but now all of these Mavic 2 videos have come out and are making me just want to shoot some video.
Chicago area weather sucks lately. At least Mavic 2 Pro is a bit better than Mavic Air in high winds making 360 panos. I'm uploading lots on Google Street View. Theres a drone meetup group meeting at Thatcher Woods River Forest, IL Sunday 8/9 at noon.
Before shooting this video my microphone fell on the ground and for some reason the audio sounds horrible. Sorry about that, will have it fixed by next week.
Billy Kyle still good!
Billy Kyle 5 tips and tricks then drop the mic!! Lol
Great tips Billy. Now here is one for you. Do not use the internal Hyperlaspe features. Just kidding, I think the footage is a little jerky if you ask me. I would rather use a technique I am working on.
Billy Kyle How do you increase the smoothness and decrease the sensitivity for the touch screen pans and tilts from Tip 2??
Switch on the right side of the remote.

Great video! After panning how can you get the camera centered again?
Set one of your customizable buttons to shoot the gimbal downwards and then back upwards.
Good tips Billy, I went with the M2PRO and the touch screen to move the gimbal was a great idea from DJI but i assume it only works in video? Billy have you figured out a way to take a photo as you're taking a video with the mavic 2?

It works on my iPad Mini 4.
Charlie Stone which iOS version are you running?
12 currently, I do not recall what it was prior to this last update. It worked before I updated and it still works with 12.

1. No SD card in the box, it has built in storage.
2. You have to use the Assistant 2 application on your computer
@@billykyle thank you for the prompt response
Question, is there a difference between the white and black DJI goggles when flying the Mavic 2 drones?
The two button method of binding remote to the drone is in one of DJI's tutorials for the M2. The half-press for auto-focus I believe is in the manual. If not there, in one of the tutorials.

Might be something you need to contact DJI support about.
Hi Billy, is the Pan only on the Mavic 2 Zoom?
This is also available on the Mavic 2 Pro.
Are the scratches on the Gimbal from taking off and putting the cover back on ?
On the Zoom version, can the speed of the zoom be modified in the menus somewhere? And, can it be made to "easy-ease" into or out of a zoom, rather than just hard-stopping at one end or the other?
Where did you get the custom QR sticker that is on your Mavic 2 Zoom?
Billy I’ve seen a couple of videos describing how to pan the camera and it seems fairly simple, but no matter what I try I personally haven’t been able to accomplish it. I can’t figure out what I could be doing wrong. Thought it might be my device, but I’ve used both iPad and iPhone and does work with neither. I’m I the only one that’s having this problem?
You have to press down on the display with some force. Almost like force touch with the iPhone.
I don't want a half press focus on my shutter button. Is there a way to disable that?
How do you adjust the speed of camera movements? Out of the box it moves way to fast.
Love the calibrate tip. Such a hassle to navigate to the calibrate compass feature on the p4p. Don’t know why the Mavic Pro did’t have the photo button half press as a feature to focus. Silly

Love your content, Billy! You always create some really helpful stuff!
This is very invormative Video, thank you! Do you know how to disable charging of the phone via controler? On mavic 2 pro

If you're too close to a foreground object while in hyperlapse, it will look jumpy.
on your phone there its showing the little radar in the bottom cornet its not showing on my s9 how do you get it there please
Good tips. First video from your page that i've watched, and LOVED seeing that CC Philly footage! Recently relocated to Jacksonville FL from the 215, so that was fun. Also just started using the mavic2zoom for work and went looking for tip vids. Thnx.
Thanks for the feedback, Jeffrey!
What’s best for videos: infinity focus or af and press the shutter throughout recording the video
Hey Billy, Do you know if the Mavic 2 can shoot stills while recording video at the same time?
Billy, can the Mavic 2 use two controllers - slave/master, similiar to the Mavic Pro? I have not heard anyone address this.
thx for the video...i am still not sure what's that biding mood is for thought
Awesome tips to know thankyou. I've saved this video.
Great tips. Especially quick accessing the firmware. Thanks Billy
nice work Billy!
Thank you!
Great tips. Tks.
Why do you do the controller linking for what
Thank you so much
So, you didn’t explain how you can downgrade the firmware...?
What’s the best settings for s Sunday day

Wow, these are some helpful tips. I cannot believe I did not know most of these. Thank you so much!
Firmware upgrade/downgrade is very good to know! That's the only reason why I don't upgrade, because I don't want to connect to my computer if the upgrade has a bug... Thanks!
Thanks Billy for the very good tips they will be really handy, Thanks Again
Very Informative. Thanks for sharing these hidden features. Much appreciated
Nice, Billy! Of these 5, I was aware only of the gimbal one. I particularly like the focus tip! Nice!
I have a DJI Mavic 2 Zoom. I tried this with my iPad Mini 4 and it did not work.
I was in the static mode and not up in the air. This shouldn't make any difference.
Great video.
Great tips Billy!
Great tips, bud - keep it up!
Awesome video bro. Great tip about using front sensors while panning. Thanks! +1 sub

Thanks Billy....Good to know.
Just got my Mavic 2 Zoom, Early Christmas Gift to myself 😀
So the panning is a hard press on your mobile, I wondered why I didn't get it to work, I have to press harder. Good tips!
I did not think these would be unknown but I actually didn't know all of them
where is super res?
Very usefull
BILLY KYLE.... ur the best bro!! #bkdroneboyz #nyc5bdm
