I'm trying to find the ad that uses ELPs Karn Evil...and all the names of the artists and bands kind of zoom at you/past you (on the screen). I'm beginning to wonder if it was WNEW. haha I moved away from the area 30yrs ago, so my memory might not be what it used to be.

For example, ABC O&O WDAI in Chicago, it would be "Chicago's Best Rock, " et al. Another thing worth mentioning, it was not Larry Berger or Cumulus who killed WPLJ;" it was the Walt Disney Company. They purchased ABC and just wanted to keep the TV properties. In the New York City Market, both WPLJ as well as 770 AM WABC were sold off. leaving WABC-TV channel 7 as the only Disney broadcast property in metropolitan area.
OMG no, I can't believe it. . . . But last I heard it at all, it had gone over to top ten or something horrible. Had it gone back to real rock? I lived in Stamford Conn and was in college in NYC through mid-80s, with Pat St John and all the merry crew. That was the first rock I ever heard and liked!
