Just wanted to thank you for this excellent video - not just how to fix this problem, but how to effectively diagnose the correct root cause. Really grateful, thanks!
I've been reading the instruction manual multiple times, cheking forums and hunting for a solution for almost 3 weeks. A quick Google took mew to your video, and located the problem (dodgy fuse!) in less than 5 minutes. Brilliant - thanks!
Mine is C262 model. The fuse is in the main 12volt fuses under Sprite caravan seat. It turned out to be the tiny pump in the cistern was seized and just needed a spin with pointed tool. I accessed the pump by peeling back the label on the flush switch and prising out the switch assembly. Then remove the 2 screws and pull up the pipes with the pump on the end. Surprising how much scale and bits had accumulated in the pump impeller. Thanks for giving me some clues 👍
Thanks for your video, the only one that explains how to check the components. My fuse (2020 Coachman) is actually on board the main fuse board and shared with the external water pump.
Great video. Followed step by step as per the video and found the pump impeller jammed (hadn't been used for almost 2 years due to Covid lockdown). Removed pump and spun manually then back-flushed with mains water. Working perfectly now. Thanks for your excellent video.
@@thecaravanplace hi, I have this issue but when I put multiple on switch/PCB board (brown and blue) I’m getting no reading so I bought a new PCB board buddy still have the same issue. I have 12v coming in and hooked up to power. Hope you can help. Fuse checked also seems ok. Getting power into board so can’t be fuse can it?
Great vlog it’s going to be helpful to many people,in my case this year it was the impeller was sticking and some gentle spinning did the trick thanks keep um coming.
Thank you. Removing the connector from the PCB and plugging back in a few times while holding the button (so I knew when it started to work again) worked for me. Thanks
For the benefit of any Newbies with a flushing issue. 1) This video only relates to toilets with a separate flush tank. Toilets which use the main water pump to flush with water from the main water tank are very different. 2) The common cause of the impeller getting jammed is black flakes forming in the flush tank. The major cause of black flakes is leaving the flush tank standing with a solution of pink fluid in when not in use. a) Drain the flush tank at the end of each break; b) If it will be unused over winter, flush the flush tank with plain water before draining.
@@thecaravanplace It did indeed thanks again. Was so lucky as there is a great little caravan accessory shop about a mile from the site we are on, who had a replacement pump in store. 10 to 15 minutes to swap out, running good as new.
Thanks for this! Watched in case the problem was not straightforward, but turned out to be a blown fuse (which was well corroded as you pointed out). 👍🏻
Thanks followed your fault finding , perfect. It ended up being a stuck pump Gave the impala a little push with the meter probe as you suggested and boom of it went. I belive the blue fluid is responsible, very gunky. Pink only for us now.
@@peterward2357 i just cleaned the corroded connections, sprayed with silicone spray and it has been working great since. I now know where to go looking next time.
Great, thanks, helped me a lot. Confidence is everything. Mine didnt work after the fuse and the board behind the button, fixed it by replacing the board down below - the fill level thingy. These are simple systems, although I think in my case the pump is harder to find.
Did you find the pump? I cannot find mine so I am assuming the main water pump must be used for toilet flush. My intermittent problem seems to be at the connector to the switch logic board. Don’t think I could replace the connector even though it looks clean and no corrosion.
always carry a spare fuse and reed switch pcb. My pump used to fail after each winter, till I took the cassette out over winter and stored in garage - this airs the cassetter compartment over winter.
Hi there this is a good video is there any more tips and tricks as my one is not working I’ve changed the board the pump is working I’ve changed the fuse and it’s still not working
It's testing where you have power, start at the power coming in or on both sides of the power, then if you have power getting to the board? Then pressing the button and do you have power to the pump wires. It could be the wiring harness if you have power getting to the board. The little white connector that goes on the board could be faulty and needs replacing if you have power getting to the board. Hope this helps.
Ours has stopped working. Our fuse is a green 30amp fuse. Is this correct as everyone I've seen it's always a purple 3amp one. We have a elddis avante.
My problem was the impeller not spinning. The clue was the fact that the lights dimmed very slightly when I pressed the button so I thought power must be getting through
Would you happen to know about the C262 Flush? Changed PCB but cables to the block came away when cleaning and struggling to determine which ports the 3 black cables go to £60 + for a new harness and then having to remove toilet to connect it up.(Want to avoid paying Cannot find any diagrams anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Martin (Just realised I am logged onto google as my daughter!)
My thetford toilet with a C250 cassette is intermittent in working, I’ve removed the flush plate as shown but there isn’t a pump in this area, do the toilets have a separate pump or could it be the main water pump that is being used?
Hi Peter, the pump will either be top right from when you look at where you take the cassette out from outside, or when you remover the push button control panel, you will see 2 screws that hold the pump but this is the c260 model where the pump is inside.
@@thecaravanplace : thanks for your info, with the cassette removed there are only cables going up to the toilet flush, removing toilet flush panel it lifts out with about 12 inches of slack cables, removing the 2 screws and there is only daylight looking down to the cassette area, the screws do not hold anything in place in fact you can see daylight through the 2 holes. So no pump in this area. Maybe my 2008 motorhome has a hybrid C250 toilet. I have photos if I can attach them to my comments I will, your further advice would be appreciated.
Multimeter shows -13V (minus) when I check red and black wires. Why minus? Is it normal? Anyway my problem is if I switch on main power switch in the campervan, that c250 PCB heats up quickly and would probably melt if I won't switch of main power. What can be wrong? Polarity? Or PCB dead?
Yes the minus is saying the positive and negative are wrong, if u swap the prongs over so red goes to black and black to red, it will read correct if it is wired wrong. You will need to try and find where the power comes from and see the supply to the toilet is wired wrong?
Our toilet stopped flushing at the start of the season. I checked the fuse which seems to be ok. The red toilet full light is working but not the flush. I’ve fitted a new control panel but still nothing . Any advice please.?
Hi Gwen, you need to test if you have power on the board, so twst if power is coming to the board and then test if you have power going to the pump when you push the button. If you have power when pushing the button, its the actual pump, if no power then its finding why you don't have power.
Possibly to the board but that might be from the sensor that says the cassette is full. If u start at the pump wires on the flush board inside, check you have power then to rhe pump when pressing the flush button, if not work backwards and check the power.
told my dad about this video, checked the fuse first and it was corroded so he cleaned it and tested it with multi meter and it was completely dead so we are fairly sure that it is that. We've also recently replaced the grey and orange toilet cassette as that had also broken (the opening ring blade mechanism had corroded/split so we believe that the toilet must have leaked because the cassette was broken and the fuse has got wet which would explain the corrosion. Not 100% sure where to get a replacement though.
@@thecaravanplace we are not too sure if its just the fuse so will also investigate the reed switch, the flush button and the pump like you suggested. super helpful video so thanks a tonne. saves having to contact dealer etc.
@@thecaravanplace thanks for your reply I looked yesterday and had to replace the fuse for the auxiliary sockets I cannot see anything that looks like it might be for the toilet Thanks
At 2:00 a degreaser is sprayed on the fuse. By itself this will do nothing. Any grease or dirt on the pins will not be removed unless you use a clean cloth to wipe off the grease that will have been dissolved by the de-greaser. Also you really shouldn't spray the solvent onto your bare skin.
Utterly frustrating when this just will not work. No external fuse as it is built into the circuit board. Pump works, voltage at the board but after trying 3 very expensive boards still nothing. Very poor design and manufacture
@@Andrea-lc7fi 😂 Sorted it. All 3 previous boards were bought off the internet ( not cheap either ) I took a chance and bought one from a dealer costing only £5 more and that worked. The three off the internet were obviously fake. A lesson sorely learned

Either pipe has come off, or the inside diaphragm is no good, if you search for a new manual pump, you will see what it looks like and be able to remove and check the pipe is connected, if it is it will most likely need a new pump.
