I enjoy John 5’s playing very much, and he seems like a very nice person. But as he’s holding each instrument, I wish he would say more about them, beyond wow and unbelievable. How does it compare to other similar instruments of the era? Weight? Identifying blemishes, features? Setup? Fret size? Etc?
I knew he looked familiar! He's spitting image of the Toecutter, all he needs is a motorcycle and his gang of lackeys to travel the countryside wreaking havoc!

What fingerpicking piece is J5 playing at the beginning? I learned it from a fingerstyle blues book as a kid and have been looking for it for 20 years. Anyone ? Please? Help !
I think a few people hinted at something earlier that makes sense. If John plays any of Jimi's stuff, he could get his buddies at Hard Rock into some legal problems with Jimi's estate handlers. John is a famous and renowned guitarist. He plays "Machine Gun" on Jimi's guitar and they automatically get more views because the video gets recommended to others and the effect multiplies. There would be more views and more money in HR's pocket than there would be if John just said "wow" a few times and threw down a few licks. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure it’s been restrung since he died, which sucks, but at least try to keep it the same. I hope they have the strings that were on it somewhere. Worked at hard rock 20 odd years ago, played most of the guitars in there ,they had to come off the walls during refurb ,and put em in to security brother and I played and photographed ourselves playing most of em,
Roy Clark, very underrated guitarist in my opinion. I was steeped in the 60's music when it was coming out. But I was totally floored watching Hee Haw with my parents when Roy would cut loose jamming with Buck Owens!
Because the Hard Rock Cafe purchased it. I’m going to assume that they did their research thoroughly before putting up what must have been a shitload of money. (I say that because it was purchased for an undisclosed amount)
So are all of hendrix guitars restrung right handed now?? Totally upsetting. Why would you change the strings his hands touched... That blows my mind that people even would think of doing this. Please, leave these guitars alone.
This isn’t Jimis guitars does anyone know why. I hate when these people try to dump everyone down if you know your music history you will know what I’m talking about
the one from the cavett show was sold to the hard rock cafe,, the one John 5 is playing is the one Jimi played in Sweden, I believe it went to auction and only brought in 10k.
So picture this. Someone hands you a guitar that’s worth more than your life, hovers over you, and says play somethin’… You really think you’d crank the amp up to 11 and throw caution to the wind? Forget a nick in the paint, one micro scratch on that thing would cost you more than a small house in a good neighborhood. I’d be playing some light jazz too

Hendrix fans of the future will no doubt have their views on these idiots.
Jimi used this guitar for Slow blues tunes. Like red House. Some of my favorite tones ever. But nobody can play it like he did
Yeah, there is a video on UA-cam of him using it to play Red House.
Isn't Jimi's main sound a fuzzy strat kinda thing?
@@PedroYippeekayayeyes.
@happy_92 I just got a new fuzzy fender last month. The fuzzy Fenders sound better than the non fuzzy ones

Its Guinea pig. So no worries.

John 5 worthy of Holding & Playing The Stanley Cup Of All Guitars On This Planit !! WOW !
Why aren't these publically available to review in person. These are iconic pieces of history. Please keep your videos coming!
I know this guy is being nice and John 5 is certainly an excellent player, but he doesn’t have to act like he has never seen anyone play guitar before
Mind blowing lol
Also that guitar was made to rock and he plays some lame stuff brah
John 5 a humble legend and beyond gifted great guitar great interview great reverence by interviewer
He nails that G chord
I cant believe that I live in the same city as my favorite Jimi Hendricks guitar ....

Matúš Buffa it is lol??

That's where Marilyn Manson came in.
Did they flip the nut around?
He couldn't riff jimi because of the estate. I suggest we fans of Hendrix commence an "let jimi's songs be played and don't sue" campaign.

Jerry Reed - Jiffy Jam
I saw Jimi play Red House on that guitar in Jan 1969.
So you should put it in a box and mail it to me.
Those "Mary Ford" licks at the beginning was what that model Les Paul exemplifies! Although Lester hated them.

That's true, but he could at least play something Hendrix-y. Instead he plays the same shit in every video.

I'm not hating on John 5, I love John 5, but I am a little bummed that he didn't play any Hendrix tunes on that guitar.
Thought the song Jimi did on Dick Cavett was Hear my train a comin'
same, only one i could find
How much was that guitar
Sounds like somebody threw a blanket over it

He only had one 1967 Gibson SG Custom with Maestro VOS. He played it in public and studio from October 1968 to November 1969.
Or maybe the museum ones arnt real? I've speculated a lot of those Jimi guitars are just replicas
