Jeeps are my drug of choice and, speaking for me only, I'd rather binge on 20 minute episodes more frequently than wait for a 40 minute one infrequently. That and I'd really hate for you to burn out from long episodes and find another gig. Thanks for hanging in and providing great content. Crack On.

One thing that doing a show for a while did is let your patience shine! Most of us go bonkers when we have to redo stuff. You doing things with multiple takes and many times, let’s patience shine, and persistence get things done. Well, at least the parts we see on camera. :) I’m enjoying your daily things. I think you’re doing well, and yes, the editing and camera work keeps improving. Cheers!

Most tire installers don’t even know about the dot on the tire.
You line it up with the valve stem so the tire will balance out better.

    • @scottbouc2888
      @scottbouc2888 2 роки тому

That's not true at all as a tire installer I have proved this false many times and even tried it that way just to see if it actually makes a difference it doesn't the weight just moves to the lightest spot on the rim/tire regardless of where the mark is and doesn't change. To further disprove this I have mounted a tire with the yellow or red dot nowhere near the valve stem and the tire has balanced out needing zero ounces of weight. Most people want it by the valve stem because it looks better.

nice thorough demonstration of a bead lock setup. I see so many people never using a torque wrench. Even engine builders and when I learned auto mechanics they beat it into you to use torque wrenches to verify proper torque and the use of proper lube or sealants.

I learned, I was entertained, I laughed. Your accident became a feature with Sound Ben. Backstage DED.
My only critsism, "I think" you missed explaining the steps of the inner wheel diameter. My understanding is wheels only go into a tire one way and the smallest wheel diameter allows the tire bead to stretch over the wheel bead in a oval. I ruined a 35" BFG as a young man not knowing this. Something to keep in mind for a future video?
    Thank you Fred!

I would say a good 95% of the time I can get a wheel started in a tire with no spoons or levers. Soap it up and jam it in there at an angle like you mean it. No scratches that way. Great looking set of wheels Fred. Never seen the Mopar wheels before.

Cheers for this content. I've fitted many a tyre/beadlock package, however I still enjoyed this and picked up a little trick from it. The little yellow dot part. However I'm in Tasmania and I've not noticed that dot on any of my tyres here. I'll be sure to look though. I also run my bolts down with a little Ugga Dugga, or "baby Dugga" as I call it haha. Speeds things up a lot when you have a billion bolts to run down.
    Thanks again. Love the show.

I've been doing tires professionally for years and I've never been told to put the yellow dot by the valve stem. I honestly don't know what purpose it serves I've tried it before thinking it has something to do when you balance the tire but it makes absolutely no difference so I honestly think it has something to do when the tire is constructed and not intended as a installation indicator. The same goes for the red dots that you sometimes see on tires as well.

You show, that you are using Falken tires, in your video. On the 4WH magazine site, Falken is listed as a sponsor of the 2022 4WH Overland Adventure - Oct 10, S Cal. (I assume it just concluded). Your presentations are very informative, detailed & organized. Combined with what you spoke about; wheel, tire, & beadlock, I would have appreciated it if you also mentioned your preference and or options for tires, re various use or conditions. Maybe you can do that in a forthcoming presentation. And also, more discussion of potential tire size for various vehicles & driving conditions.

I keep from cross threading by:
hold the bolt parallel to the hole against it (like you would normally thread in) with light pressure.
Then spin the bolt left (I know lefty loosey) until it clicks and drops.
Then you know the bolt and hole, are perfectly aligned at the beginning of the thread.
Then righty tighty, goes in without crossthreading.

Maybe a tip: Trademark the "I call it “Soapy Water”…there is a YT Channeler who does DIY videos and he has a heavy Pennsylvania or Boston-ish accent and when he says “Water” on Video it sounds like “Wharter”. So apparently folks would write to him and ask, “Where can I buy the product “Wharter”. So he started to show it in his videos that way (Just as a joke, no doubt). “Soapee Wharter™” is probably available to Trademark™? -Steve from SWWA

I know I'm probably going to get learnt on for posting this and probably gonna get some hate but seriously want to know why people keep thinking that the dots mean something when you mount a tire? I've mounted tires since highschool and played around with this idea trying to figure out if there's anything to it and honestly I can't find any solid evidence from testing that putting the dot by the valve stem makes any significant difference other than because it looks better. To even further disprove that aligning the dot with the valve stem makes a difference on how the tire balances Hunter tire machines have this thing called "Road Force Balance" and when the balance exceeds a certain point it wants you to rotate the tire on the rim to the spot where it deems will require the lowest amount of weigh to balance often times this will change the spot of the dot on the rim disproving everyone's thought on how the dot goes by the valve stem. Aligning the dot by the valve stem is not a factual thing other than it's aesthetically pleasing to people. I'm aware that yes sometimes it is in the right place but I have balanced tires with it not even close and some balance out perfect without adding weights explain that? I apologize for the rant but some people will believe anything if someone else tells them it's a fact without having to prove it to them.
