- I take the Jeep Wrangler 4xe out to the drag strip and we hurt some feelings. I raced again a, chevy Silverado built 6.0, 392 dodge charger, LT1 Camaro, I was able to run an 8.8 1/8th mile. Everyone was shock how fast it was off the line.

The Jeep® Wrangler Unlimited 4xe is the greenest, most efficient, and capable Wrangler yet. UA-camr Brandon Haneline, recently, took his 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara High Altitude 4xe to the local drag strip to find out if the added electric boost would turn the new “green” Jeep into a drag strip sleeper. The first thing is did was to cut the interior of his Sahara 4xe, leaving only the center console, door panels, instrument panel, and driver’s seat helping to cut down on the added weight by the electrified powertrain on the already lefty 5,100 lb. SUV. Even though, he cut as much weight as he could down, the PHEV powertrain was left untouched. Brandon admits it was his first time on a drag strip before, but could the plug-in Wrangler hang with vehicles like a HEMI-powered Dodge Charger Daytona in 1/8-mile? In the end, the Wrangler 4xe was capable of laying down runs around 8.85 to 8.88 seconds @ around 78 mph. That would mean it would be in the high 13-second range if it was raced down the quarter-mile. Not too bad considering how heavy the Wrangler 4xe is, and that Car & Driver has tested a standard Wrangler Unlimited with the 2.0-liter turbo on the 1/4-mile with a 15.1-second pass @ 88 mph.

I took an 08 V6 f150 to a 1/4 track and ran 10x. My best in that thing was a 16.93@82mph. That was bone stock with the exception of a k&n intake. It was fun as hell and I only won 1 race lol. Will be going with my 06 monte carlo in the next few weeks.

@@BrandonHaneline I chose hydro blue. Thought it very appropriate for the 4xe. HUGE upgrade over the volt, and while I might miss the 45mpg on the highway on the gas, the power and space upgrade w/ 4wd WAY more then makes up for it and I already have a 7.2kw charger in the garage so hoping to maximize my ev milleage around town. Super impressed with it so far.

@@brendanunderwood2542 Does that Jeep even have 4WD auto? I know the 4XE Rubicon has the full time Rock Trac 4WD system but I don't think the Sahara/High Altitude do.

Torque is reduced in 1st and 2nd gear when in 2WD mode. 4WD auto is required to get the most out of the engine when your wanting to do a 0 to 60 run or drag race. Car and driver has a good article they just posted on it and found out about the torque limit in 1st and 2nd when in 2wd.

That Camaro should get his money back! 7.8 in the 1/8th for a Procharged LT is slow. A bone stock Mustang 5.0 10 speed auto will run that.
Helps if you know how to drive it and race. He obviously don't know how to race.

Amazing! Good on the trail, good on the drag strip, and not expensive! Jeep is a step ahead of the Bronco with both the 4xe and the V8.

Very impressive 💪 evidently there are some bolt-on 2.0L Wranglers with JB4’s running in the 13’s quarter mile and in the low 5 sec range 0-60. You’re almost there will nothing done to the 2.0L. Maybe a decent piggyback tuner (Racechip) and an AFE high-flow air filter would get you in t low 5’s or better? Not sure if the current piggyback tuners work for the 4Xe?

I've been drag racing a fair amount, and watched a lot of it, I've never seen a cone right before the staging lights in the lane in my life, so don't feel weird about not knowing what that was for, I thought it was for them to signal that they didn't want anyone staging until it was moved. Also, you're awesome, so friendly. I saw a rebel flag plate in the staging and I thought this might go another way.
Lets quit perpetuating the flag myth? Kind of hard for some to understand it isnt all about slavery or racism.
JEEP needs to make the DRIVERS SEAT able to go lower for tall people.
I have a Rubicon and I’m 6’2” and with the plastic speaker housing right behind my head if I get rear ended IM DONE...
If they don’t make the seat adjustable to go lower I wont be buying another one.😢👎🏽

I was going to buy a 2022 jeep 4xe but it was too much money $71K I feel like it wasn’t worth the money I felt like for 71K I could’ve got something better so I got a 2021 jeep grand Cherokee 80th anniversary SUV for $48K I love it drives really good but the gas is crazy I put like 80bucks on gas because my Jeep has the Dodge Ram gas tank of 24.7 Gallons and I do drive a lot so ever 3 or 4 days I put gas
I got the 22 4xe not the rubicon though and I don’t see how he runs all electric because when you floor it it goes to hybrid immediately
Too bad it is a jeep and only has a 60k useful life.

Most drag racing trees have "perfect reaction time" of .500 and some of them are .400 It looks like most of the guys are jumping the lights. Did you ask what the light timing is at this track? The guy with the Jeep with the 392 was a 🐔💩 for not wanting to go up against you- but after seeing your first run times he probably was embarrassed after spending big $$ on his build to get smoked by a factory stock Jeep.
At California speedway you could cut a light down to zero seconds. My buddy ran a terrible time in his old 350z but cut a .000 so the track gave him a voucher for an In & Out burger 🍔

Greatness, looks fun! You did make us proud! :) Two things I would love to cover with you! I have a 2021 Rubicon 4xE (all due to your videos btw :) A) how do I get this thing into Dyno mode? I have access to a private dyno, all hooked up, did one test run and then every light came on like a a Christmas tree and car went into limp mode. (I can give more detail on setup etc later) B) I noticed an odd issue, when coming out of the car wash, it won’t let me put car in gear (from Neutral) until the rear wheels clear the moving floor portion, had other Jeep’s and never had that issue. #couldbemenothavingaclue :)

I thought it was all electric . I don't mind it being back up electric . But the cars now a days being all electric is not good . Especially when most only have a 250 mi max range and not to many places to charge and takes God knows how long to fully charge . Can turn a day trip into 2-3 day trip. Can't just get rid of internal combustion engines without either having a back up or reliable technology in place. But good job on the race. it's good to see people trying something new and getting away from the TV for a bit.

@@BrandonHaneline the Nissan Leaf Plus, is only 214HP. But I think only like 3,500LBs vs the Jeeps 5,100-5,300LBs I believe. You might overcome it though, because of your 375HP, so... toss up really, until you find one to race🏁 🙃👍

8.8 in the 1/8 mi is about 13.7 in the 1/4 mi. My old big block Malibu ran a best of 13.73. Says a lot of good things about our modern Jeeps! Great video! Smiled through the whole thing. Love sleepers 😜

@@BrandonHaneline haha, just a bit of hint, you don't need to charge all the way to 90% for the max power, anywhere above 20% can get the emotor engage fully if your throttle demand is >90%.
Chrysler repeated what Mercedes-Benz did back in 2016. MB redesigned the chassis a bit, stretch it horizontally, made it wider, and put two models on it: GLE63S high output AMG and GLE500e
Jeep did the same, revise the chassis shell a bit, and gave it a V8 and a PHEV.

Hello. I really enjoyed the video. Your happy face is the best example of driving a jeep. I have a 2024 4xe but I feel that the electric motor is limited, because when going slow I don't feel any problems but when I give it gas around 30mph the electric motor makes a strange noise and increases mph slowly in a few seconds the sound disappears and my jeep increases mph normally. Is that happening to you with your 4xe?
