- David and I head out of the sunny fens to take in some of the brilliant Rutland TT and for some soup at Corby Glen Cafe. After we head home via the Triumph dealer in Peterborough to help Ian with some purchase choices.... will he now order a new bike??
Bike in this video:
BMW R1250GS, Harley davidson Fat Bob 131 Stage 4, Triumph Bonneville, Triumph Tiger Sport 660, Triumph Tiger 900, Boneville Speedmaster, Thruxton RS. - Авто та транспорт
Good to see you out now that was a beautiful triumph dealer the green on the thruxton is beautiful such a shame they are discontinuing the mighty thruxton ,
Cheers, yes that Green Thruxton is a work of art
I enjoyed watching all getting confused which county you were in! Seriously though, the winter roads are more suited to lower capacity lighter machines than my Gen 3 Suzuki Hayabusa. I am currently giving serious consideration to one of a number of bikes to fill a third (and final) space in my garage...
Honda NC750X-DCT
RE Classic 350
Suzuki TU250
Honda Varadero 125
All available at reasonable prices....
It is indeed nice to have a smaller bike sometimes, the Harley is low so the weight no issue. But get on the single track roads and a lightweight beastie helps, my little CRF300L does the job and a lot of smiles for minimal cash.
Riding these stunning machines on salt laden roads...rather you than me guys.
Luckily they had not been salted, a couple of days after I filmed this and the roads are terrible....
tell him to stand on the pegs for god sake ahhhh , drive me insane watching him lol
Haha Ian is hilarious. 👍👍
I just do it for tbe laughs. 😅
You passed through my home town on your travels
Excellent
@FenTour when I was doing my DAS a few years on a lesson with camrider i was at that triumph dealer and i failed to put my stand fully down when we stopped so me and the bike toppled over in slow motion right outside,i felt like a right pratt
Good demo of the problem with the Tiger 660 for us older chaps. Hip problems and general inflexibility make it hard to swing your leg over the raised pillion seat. Standing on a footpeg is not an adequate alternative, especially if the bike is not on a level hard surface. If Triumph would just flatten out the seat a bit, and reduce the height of the bike a little too, they would be likely to attract some of us gentry who like a faired middleweight motorcycle.
Im only 32 and im also not flexible. I ride a honda transalp and because its an adventure model i can barely mount it without using the footpeg, especially with panniers. Lower motorcycles are just so much easier.
poor Ian, at least with his Bonnie it's easy for him to get astride!
Your technique works well for David
Nice Speedmaster, that one at the dealers. But I would say that as it's identical to mine! Forward controls are no problem for my short 29" legs, and my arthritic knees really appreciate them after the rather cramped R9T I used to ride.
I think Ian would love the forward controls don't you?
Harleys supplied in the UK are now mostly assembled in Thailand. Your VIN will tell you where your bike was made. See your Owners manual to check how to decode the VIN. Ride safely!
Ero 10% duty on US imports has made that happen for some bikes.
Great fun but was difficult to get my leg over!
Tiger 660 Ian.... yes...
I love the Tiger 660, a real beauty!!! |Do you think it is beginner friendly? Thanx and cheers :)
I would say it was a super purchase post getting the full licence... :-)
Did I hear you say stage 4 already - what's stage 5 then? 😂
I would love to know more about a Stage 5! :-)
Love the small villages. How is David liking the GS compared to the previous RT? I do like my GSA but was having a look at the 1600GA yesterday - I do need to ride one.
he prefers the GS over the RT but the Rt was better for a pillion. I tested the K1600GT for a second time recently, video coming soon but I will not be purchasing one...!
Ahhh... I look forward to the video and your words of wisdom!
