    Just get it, I did and absolutely love it. Needs some tweaking for the right comfort position, but all doable. It's actually great in cities and small towns, just need to know how to handle it. Easy

      I think riding the new R1300GS the day before this beauty helped with my decision, not to purchase either! But yes it is a superb machine.... Thank you for commenting.

    I'd be frightened that if I dropped one of those I'd never get it back upright again. It's in my favourite colours though and it was about time BMW offered some decent colour options. I've just got my 1250RS in the Motorrad colours and it looks brill ❤❤ the dealer said this was the idea of the new bossman and where the Motorrad colours are an option they're proving very popular.

    I have the K1600 Grand America. For me, with a dodgy knee, the pegs and the ability to put my feet on the running boards just sealed the deal. That motor is something else.

    I have a 2017 and a 24 GT. The 17 has a Remus full race exhaust, modified air box, hi-flow air filter, and ecu tune. All I can say is it's a rocket ship. The 24 will remain stock with an improved ecu tune. Just love these bikes. I have several brands ,including Harley, Honda, and a V Max, and I must say, the 2017 is my favorite bike of all time.

    Good video, I have a question for any K1600 riders. I currently have a 1250 RS which I love but, after a couple of years I am looking to upgrade to a more relaxed riding position. I loved the GS and K1600 but I dont remember which ones I rode. I see there are a few different configurations that change the riding position and im looking to have something that is good for a passenger (my wife). I'm also 6'3" so i'd like to see what model will fit me better for touring and 45-minute rides to work.

    • @vladalexandru5861
      @vladalexandru5861 11 місяців тому +1

      The K1600 is specifically made to be riden with a passenger as well. Can't get anything more comfortable for the passenger than this Big K (except maybe the Goldwing)

    • @garrett1144
      @garrett1144 11 місяців тому

      @vladalexandru5861 what about the different models like the K1600B vs K1600GT and Grand American or are they all the same in comfort?

    • @vladalexandru5861
      @vladalexandru5861 11 місяців тому +3

      @@garrett1144 no they're not the same. The GT has the sportiest stance, GTL is a bit more upright while the B and GA are somewhat similar to a Cruiser. But the main difference is that the GT/GTL are unlimited while the B/GA are limited. And by limited I mean the top speed, 102 mph due to some weird turbulence issues at high speeds. Also the GT/GTL have removable side cases while the B/GA don't ( they have integrated tail lights). I had the 2018 GT and I could easy do 600 miles per day in total comfort. I'm waiting now for a 2024 GTL

    • @garrett1144
      @garrett1144 11 місяців тому

      @vladalexandru5861 That's great info, I'll have to go ride them again I can't remember which model I rode in the demo. I definitely don't want the limit but I do like the look of the B.

      My GTL fits my 6’5” self very well for 600 mi+ days on long distance trips (which I am currently in the middle of around California), but I made a few mods: 7Juroc windscreen, Russell Daylong saddle, and swapping the GTL handlebars for the GT handlebars.

    In the flat fens the weight of the K1600 is probably not a problem, but up here in Yorkshire with a lot of very steep hills (that you’ll have to stop and launch from) i think it would be a handful to say the least. Nice looking bit of kit though and probably a joy trans Europe

  • @tonycarpenter-Makzimia

    I found the K1600GT an amazing smooth beast, for UK back roads though?, no way... I went back to an RT then in a final twist, I am now on a F900XR TE. A couple of mods to make the F900XR more mine, and I am very happy with having a much lighter throwable bike.

    • @FenTour
      @FenTour  11 місяців тому +1

      Indeed, weight makes quite a difference especially when on UK back roads, my best bike for such is my little Honda CRF300L; smaller is ofen better....

    If you ordered anything, I’d say it’s the new 1300GS. I haven’t seen one yet as they haven’t hit the dealer floor here in the US. Love the K bike in this color. The sound of that engine! Easily chugging along at 38 mph in 6th gear, or winding 2nd gear to the redline. This bike would be great for the big roads here, as my RGL is. But 2 things that concern me are the labor intensive and expensive valve check, and reports from owners about high oil consumption. I’d still love to have one 👍

    At 340 kgs you would not want to drop it! Lol. However, it's a premium bike that is designed for comfortable all day touring. It's worth getting if you plan do do some serious long distance motorcycle touring. Then this or a Goldwing "fits the bill" for that intended use. No doubt it is an beautifully designed machine.

    Would u pick this over the streetglide??
    I've had them before and 6'2...

    • @johnt895
      @johnt895 10 місяців тому

      Absolutely, I've had 2 of each. Switched over to GSA after 2 streetglides. No range, performance, cornering with the HD, really the HD is just dangerous if you want to ride anything other than straight-line hwy at lower sustained speeds and stop for gas every 150 mi. Have to do a lot less to the GTL to get it to fit if you're not the prototype body size, and don't have to change out the exhaust, suspension, seat, cams, ecu flashed, seat, handlebars, etc. Have to put another $10k into the HD after initial purchase for fit, performance, windshield, luggage, etc. HD service at home dealer or on the road...only if you are ok with island time.

    • @FenTour
      @FenTour  10 місяців тому

      No and yes... Street Glide is a Harley and has more to offer with the HOG membership and the soundtrack. The BMW is going to be far better for mile crunching along autobahns. I would opt for the Road Glide though if considering a Harley touring beasty. Put it this way I am not convinced of the K1600 or indeed the Street Glide for my needs.

    Hey, I couldn't see your speed when you overtook. Did you accidentally smear some petroleum jelly on the camera lens just at that moment? ;-) I love that bike. My only concern is that I think I might want the Grand America version more because of the speakers in the rear luggage cases. I like nice tunes on my bikes. However, I'd love to hear people's opinions on the ride differences (stance, ergonomics) between the two bikes.
