You're a very good teacher. The best I've found so far for SD. I like that you explain WHY you use that node specifically and what it is supposed to do for the overall project. Definitely am going to buy your full course when I have the money.
Excellent little tutorial. Great for someone who wants to jump in and poke around without starting with a marathon-length essentials class. One question that wasn't addressed in any of the comments: can anyone comment on how the height of the cat hair was managed? It was emphasized as being very important but there were no other details.
Had the same issue, spent minutes staring at the screen (yes, 1st timer here as well) - i used the node Transformation 2D - worked wonders for all rotations.
If anyone has any idea ... when I add the tile generator, I can't get each horizontal line to have a luminance variance from left to right. In other words, each line has the same luminance across the length of the line, not varied the way Pete has in the video. Any thoughts/suggestions would be great.
What I guessed that Peter did though in the tile generator was set 'Offset Random' to 1, set 'Offset Random Seed' to 1000, set 'Position Random' to 1, and then set 'Luminance Random' to 0.5.
Hi Steven, yes, I remember I got it working but it's been a while. But yes, from what I remember, you're right, I believe it had to do with adjusting the position random and the luminance random. So thumbs up on that!
Amazing! will be looking to sign up to your course! Ahh would love to see more on the albedo map even though its simple, its gold to a beginner! Is this file available for download and study?
Please, help! Unable to create random thread dyeing. All the previous nodes look like in the video, but this does not work. Everything is painted in stripes, photo on the link drive.google.com/file/d/1f8iAmZBWvzhgl5s6g3Bmn6w-lDFlgvwJ/view?usp=sharing
And the blend that unites Tile Generetor looks a little different - the distance between the stripes remains the same drive.google.com/file/d/1oYQ1avyG7CLw0pBSkg2vIuz1pvHCS4be/view?usp=sharing drive.google.com/file/d/1t-2YUA8Nb4eCfIgGI9J1qXJJZMr5GFN2/view?usp=sharing
For those like me starting with SD...this is pure gold.
Thank you so much for the extremely detailed explanation about the whole process!!

Just started out substance designer and had no clue what to do, but this tutorial was very easy for someone like me. Thanks!
Pete Sekula is the Bob Ross of material creation. =D
Amazing Video... Thank you so much! Using it for support for my substance class!
Nice to see Howard Stern branching out into Substance material creation. Hoo-hoo.

Super helpful!...but you also leave out so much on how you created and adjusted each node...
Thank you for the nice detailed tutorial, it was very useful!
thank you for this tutorial, but really would have loved just 30 secs more of understanding the last parts and how it all pieces together :)
so im just now in need of the video and that's my same question because I don't know what those plug ins are at the end
Nice tutorial!
I have a question. How do you rotate the second bevel when creating the weave? I just dont know how to do it

thank you for this amazing tutorial ! :D
thanks Pete. cloth texture complete:)

I'd also like to know the answer to this?

Any update on more complex weaving ?? or some tutorial to look for?
Thanks this was really helpful!
omg man. it is soooo useful. thank u very much for sharing this)
Smart work bro. Keep it up.

Amazing and thank you!
Very cool tutorial
Very good, Congratulations! : D
I want to know how to end it. #crying
wait but how do you end it though
How do I get instance parameters to appear. In the sharpen node it only shows up base and specific parameters.
thank you!!
Great!
