I really love the sound design in this game. When the cannons are shot, its SO satisfying. Everything in the game makes a perfect sound. Underrated soundtrack too. this was a great watch. awesome video!
i think i just vomited in my mouth a little . the sound effects for dkc3 are good yes but and there is a big but here haha. the music is just terrible compared to dkc1 and 2...

Yeah, there are a few of these gems that were released near the end of the SNES' life cycle, and they were really quite amazing. DKC3, Final Fight 3, Lufia 2, Harvest Moon, SimCity 2000, Super Mario RPG, just to name a few...
it's like the reverse of Gen 9 pokemon where it is lag free and well made but gen 9 is like a 1980s computer trying to run modern games. THE FRAMES, I CAN COUNT THEM!

Monolith company of Xenoblade Chronicles help them to make excellent game, and push to the limit on Switch console. Game freak are not great at graphic desing, and yes, Gen 9 is ful of lag, and i'm still suprised how i finished Pokémon Scarlet
I love watching playthroughs/speedruns of this game for when I get burnt out on watching DKC and DKC2. This one was the last one I discovered and some levels feel so bright and fresh!

Agreed. My parents (who introduced me to the world of video games) owned both DKC1 and DKC3, and back in the day I played the hell out of both games. Somehow I always find myself replaying the whole trilogy at least once a year.
Modern games have a ‘no player left behind’ mentality that old-school games don’t. You wanted all the secrets, you had to put in the time and effort to find them yourself. Or you could buy a strategy guide from your local game store.

Very overlooked. DKC2 might be more popular, but you can't deny that DKC3 improves in quite a lot of areas, even though its music is not quite as epic.
I would even contest that; the boss theme is weaker, but the factory song is so badass that it even blows away the one in DKC1. And the "Run" song is also top-notch, plus Pokey Pipes, plus the underwater theme... it's hard to be sure but I think there's a decent chance it's better overall.
I’m sad that, way back then, the music and the color palette they chose for this game completely put me off compared to DKC2, to the point that I barely played this one even after all these years :(
There aren't really any "TAS World Records". It is its own thing, not to compete against any real time achievements. There was no 105% TAS prior to us making this, so we didn't smash any run at all anyway. There are however many things that can be improved in this TAS, it's just very tedious to improve it..

9:23 So these are monkeys throwing acorns. I only played the black & white GB adapation of this game (DK Land III) and I was never able to tell what they were, even on the final credits enemy presentation. Another childhood mystery solved.
The code "TUFST" inserted at the very beginning of the game removes all checkpoint barrels as well as practically every single DK barrel. As compensation, you'll always start each level with both Kongs (regardless of what happened in the previous stage) otherwise there would be no way to get the other one back.
Reminder that TAS is not 100% robot playing a human does need to do the inputs whilst there is probably 100% robot tas out there it is imperfect and often requires human inputs slowed to a frame perfect point and rewound to get the desired results
Fun Fact: The sound for landing in water in Super Mario World's style in Mario Maker 2's Forest theme is the same one from this game, slightly cut off at the end.
I believe macros were used throughout the speedrun, including in areas where the player can continue to progress on side scroll levels. You can do this yourself but you'll need to memorize how far to go, where to jump, how many steps, etc...

This game is way better than its predecessor, the only thing it lacks is decent soundtrack (DKC and DKC2 had kick ass themes for the bosses and some levels) and a better protagonist, had Rare kept Diddy and Trixie as a team then the game would have been way different.

TUFST code in beginning made it 105%. It removes all checkpoints & DK barrels in the game, but players always start with 2 Kongs in beginning of stages.

Another effect of this is that you always start every level with both Kongs. It happens the first time after the second level. There is nothing fake about this TAS, it all consists of a single line of inputs, never interupted and no cheat codes activated. Kiddy could always skip on water - but getting both kongs back at the start of the level is part of the mod used for this TAS I think.
