  • In this video I am sharing my way of making a linen pocket square with contrast cotton piping. This tutorial covers all the stages of the process: tools and materials needed, machining and hand finishing.
Don’t forget that you can use different combination of materials: the pocket square itself can be linen or cotton and for piping you can use cotton, linen, silk and even chiffon.

Amazing video, A few weeks back I made a two-layer cotton pocket square, but it came out a little too thick, looks good for morning or evening wear, next time I use a much thinner fabric.

      Thank you!
Yeah, you are right using chiffon or silk bias binding is a bit harder but it is totally worth it, the piping gets much thinner and elegant + silks usually have incredible colors and prints.

I’m using a somewhat thick silk as my pocket square and a thick contrasting silk as my piping. When sewing down the first half should it be sewn on the right side or wrong side of the fabric or does it matter?

It doesnt matter, it is a matter of choice.
      1. If you want your machine seams appear on the right side, then attach the piping to the right side and all the hand work will go on the wrong side.
      2. If you want your handfinishing visible, than attatch all the piping to the wrong side and then fininsh it on the rigt side with handstiching.

I don’t understand how the yellow piping was on both sides after you sewn one side and opened it then ironed it over. When I do it ………. the piping is ironed over all the way. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.
