Another stunning release from Kino Lorber! I absolutely agree that this wonderful early sci-fi film deserves a 4K UHD release. Certainly a film ahead of its time, and a great influence to future titles and TV shows like THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN, ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE and LAND OF THE GIANTS. Thanks for discussing it.
What a gorgeous scan this is! And such a fun film. I did notice the three matrices being out of register here and there but it's not major; when I saw "Gone With the Wind" theatrically for its 50th anniversary re-release in theaters in 1989 the magenta record was seriously out of register, giving that magenta 'force field' impression for several reels.
Yeah until you do the intensive digital realignment that WB came up with a little bit of fringing here and there like you see here is understandable. It’s never bad or glaring like notable examples. This disc is lovely.
Great video as always. Slightly unrelated, but your review of this classic title got me wondering: What do you think are some of the best movies released in the last decade?
had never heard of this film. always happy to keep finding new gems. great in depth video on the movie 👍

Fun Fact: "Dr. Cyclops" was one of 14(!) films nominated that year for a Oscar in the Best Special Effects category.
