I'm willing to defend the 'Unobtanium'; every Sci-Fi story is allowed to break ONE law of physics 😅 However, when they exited the ship to blast away the crystals, they should have been crushed into tennis balls, because the pressure inside should have been equal to the pressure outside (somehow), even more so when lava started pouring in).
Me : That sounds a lot like The Core, but that thumbnail most definitely is not from that movie Me after clicking : Yeah... should have know it. Me after reading all the comments about people actually arguing why the physics in the movie don't work : mmmmm sweet tears, I love it.
@@tommyembry8926 It is 100% a bullshit placeholder name. "Ok...we need to come up with something SO difficult to obtain...it's almost un-obtainable!" "Oh wait I know! Unobtanium!!!" GTF outta here .
Ignoring the sheer impossibility of getting even *near* the core of the earth, the deepest drilling into earth was so pressurized and humid that no human could go down there without passing out or dying (done by Russian excavators). Then, you'd need a nuclear device with such a large tonnage that'd it'd be insane, much like the Tsar Bomba (also done by Russians). You'd need a drill machine of such size and magnitude and durability, while also having multiple safety redundancies and independent operating systems that it'd cost billions and take years to develop and construct. That's implying the drill even gets close enough because again, at a certain depth into the earth, the heat and pressure gets so heavy it helps create crystals several millimeters thick. Your drill would need to be remote controlled or AI.
Bro, its a movie, calm down. They used some made up material for the hull of the drilling machine as well as some kind of made up laser, its a Sci-Fi movie and not documentation. The Core is pretty decent btw, just watch it.
Only if you turn your BRAIN off to watch it. My biggest problem was them being able to Communicate to that drilling ship when it was so deep underground.
I enjoyed this movie. In a different world, the premise might've been more fantastic if explored with more time to discover the depths as a series. More believable tech than a super powerful and unfailing laser cutter would've allowed me to more convincingly suspend my disbelief
Sometimes I wish I could cut my IQ in half so I could enjoy movies like this without thinking about how dumb every single part of the plot is. Then I remember weed exists...
Physics took a few too many body blows in this one.

_The Core_ is one of those awful disaster movies that is really good despite being terrible.

I love this movie. i dont care if it’s very unrealistic or just straight up dumb, every time this movie comes up on tv, im watching it. 👍🏻
Ragdoll physics breaking the laws in the project
Is this a Roland Emmerich movie? It takes a special kind of 'brain' to come up with such a dumb premise.
No, it's not actually. And don't be so hard on Roland, he wrote a lot of the Stargate movie/series, beloved by many!
@@Mike__B Indeed.
I love this movie because scientifically it makes absolutely no sense.
Is unobtainium hard to obtain?
yes
No
@@tomdyer8518 yes it is
I've been thinking about his movie. It's a good movie :)
again with this "unobtainium" bullshit?
Not bullshit just hard to make abundant

@tommyembry8926 its an impossible theoretical material. A.k.a. doesnt exist. Even though the word does.
Well, this was before Avatar

The whole movie is absurd bro

Armageddon did it better and was more believable.

not an excuse, look up suspension of disbelief.

Eckhart is such a spunk!!!
Great movie👍 impossible but great recap
0:33 Correction: The scientists confirm they know of no human weapon that could have caused this.
It's sad that hollywood don't make these kind of movie anymore
