Hey everyone, I had smoking on deceleration, cold starts and at stop lights. I bought the FTP pcv valve that cured most of it, but also make sure you check the crankcase breather hose (flapper one) replace it with an OEM one! Don't buy one from local autoparts store as some don't work the same. Also check your vaccum pump hose, mine was cracked. Once I replaced that all my smoking went away. Hope this helps.
My car smokes every time I break I know it’s oil burning especially when I break it’ll burn more , but when I leave it idling at cold start one side of the exhaust is smoking more than the other ?
I have the same issue after going completely catles but its a lot less and happens like once or twice. I think its normal. Can't be turbo seals because I have logged my runs and turbos hit boost target every time. N54 with 60k miles.
I had the same issue after removing all 4 cats. Replaced the secondary cats with a free flow box and problem sorted. To my understanding the turbos need some back pressure on low rpm.
For any smoking issue on an N54 engine the first thing to check... The oil... American synthetics are not the same as European.(Except Pennzoil Pure Platinum as of this writing) The oil needs to have the BMW Long Life 01 specification (LL01). Most American synthetics are still synthesized from ground oil, European synthetics come from Natural Gas (PAO base oil).
I have the same issue, but mine will go away after the first stop. im running Dinan catless downpipes, also muffler delete. This will only happen for me if i drive the car around (temp will be normally hot as per on N54). Then i will park at home, 3 hours later i go for a drive and this poof of smoke comes out only once at the first stop i make. Then never comes back. Never does it on cold or really warm engine. I read into it and its apparently common with Catless downpipes. Or i thought it might be some sort of carbon build up or soot thats slowly trying to burn off... i think.. I loose no oil, or coolant either, car runs very strong. I have learned to just ignore it for now.. Still not 100% sure what it could be.
@@elvismokobodi4324 I figured out the problem I had exactly same issues but I found out it was my injectors failing on cyclinder 2 and 6 replaced with Index 12's no more smoke, car pulls hard. Stage 2+ MHD FBO. There can be many multiply factors that what can cause smoke though.
Ive heard when hpfp is about to go out they'll cause this issue. Imma try replacing mine and see what happens. mine only smokes on start up. I think my tune might be dumping too much fuel.
I think it’s because the cats and muffler deletes mines was good and after I deleted the cats and muffler I would smoke a lot going to get them welded on agin today .... I think if it’s turbo seals it’ll smoke out of one exhaust tips whichever one is bad cuz each tips has its own pipes to the turbo unless both seals went bad at the same time ? What are the odds
I'm getting the same. Car only smokes when engine is hot when coming to a stop. When engine is cold no smoke when coming to a stop only on a hot engine. Any recommendations please help.
Any word on the outcome? I have an 09 335i. Mine does the same thing (not quite as bad), but only after the first initial stop (stop sign or light) after starting to drive it, then it doesn't smoke anymore, until I stop somewhere, start it back up, leave, then make the first stop....rinse and repeat.
Turbo seals wouldn’t leak to the outside of the turbos, they’d leak into the downpipes and burn it and smoke. Your thinking of just the seals that seal the oil feed and return lines, those wouldn’t cause exhaust smoke tho. This is prob cause the exhaust has little back pressure

+The Don15 Yeah i'm completely puzzled with whats going on. I have had the car in the dealership twice (separate dealers each time) and they say the car is running great. I even showed them this video and they said it was normal... This is far from normal.
CGMEDIA they told me smoking from my 2007 N54 was normal too fucking dumbasses check ur wastegates and also ur oil filter housing look at the lines too for any leaks and also ur rear main seal in transmission and ur turbo seal try to do a compression test for turbos

@@Rickyrackzz I’m having the same problem now. Did you find what it was?
Mine started smoking after i cut my secondary cats off every time i come to a red light or stop sign

Did you fix this
I recently replaced my Turbose now I got the smoke just like in the video or little more but turbos hold the boost good (I need help 2)
Its not a problem its jus that ur burning more fuel, if it was the turbo seals u would know u would have boost problems and weird sounds. Ur good
KTB Only idk about that

how the hell does that matter?
Maybe its the no cats, because i have seen so many people saying they blow smoke and have no cats, i also blow smoke and have cat delete
Any update of your smoke issue?
Did you figure out the cause?

Hey did you find out what it was

Did you find the problem? Turbo's? PCV system? something else.. I have similar on deceleration, only when CATs aren't warm yet

Mark Stevens its the turbo seals. Go under your car and look up at the turbos. If you see oil then it's the turbo seals. I have that problem
