What a great comment. This is exactly what helps me explain misconceptions people have etc and why I make this stuff so thank you. what makes it "BEST" for you is not what everone else wants. You sound like you take image quality as meaning "best" but best price - walksnail, best latency - HDzero, best size walksnail/HDzero, best open ecosystem HDzero, DJI is the worst price for airuints, has the worst intergration with racing and other systems, has the worst sized air units, has the worst track record of cross generation compatability, has the WORST weight of airunits, ... also another thing to note, people often just want to recommend the system they spent money on, no one wants to admit they made the wrong choice so they naturally defend theirs. its human nature. I own all the systems, I can flying anything I want. I make these videos to share information so people can choose what is right for them. FYI personally I would pick DJI last if I had to choose only one ecosystem. BUT if you like it thats awesome man, keep flying and enjoy it.
@@UAVfutures Well then it’s safe to say that none of these systems are perfect at all. Your always gonna make a trade-off . Yes you’re right for me Image quality is what got me into the game. Without DJI I never would’ve gotten into fpv. However I do fly analog with my V2 goggles, that’s compatible with every generation except a new generation of air units. Yes the 03 is heavier than the other systems, but It was the first to record in 4K and beam 1080 P to your OLED screens, that’s money, so it cost money. Now if you’re racing and need the lightest possible set up then yeah HD zero I guess, or analog, I would go analog cause it’s cheaper and let’s face it HDz is not that different than analog. Now if you’re worried about price, WS is a little cheaper not nearly as good… maybe a little lighter but all in all you’re still gonna spend more money because those $600 googles may not even work. Wait didn’t watch snail, ripoff DJI and make their own company? All my DJI shit works. My biggest problem isn’t the weight or cost of the air unit. It’s shitty motors and shitty flight controllers because all of my air units have been through hell and none of them are broken multiple times in the pool and the ocean still works fine. Can you say that about other systems? Picture quality, durability and range is what I favor. But to each his own. However, I will say that I haven’t even been in FPV a whole year yet so maybe I’m just talking out of my anus.
I fly analog and IF I had to go HD for whatever reason, it would be WS or HDZ, I would never buy anything DJI . They are to blame for most of the current regs/rules and they were the ones that started RID , and few understand that fact and why we are where we are in this Hobby . Blame CDA, the AMA and DJI those three amigo's were and still are the culprits behind all the over regulation and dreaded drone lies and why we are considered criminals and rogues !!!
I think you missed out on saying how good HDZero is on really small whoops. the mob6 eco is really good and there's a new AIO with hdzero built in that's being tested by a ton of people right now. I believe it's going to slowly eat up the analog whoop market
Locked in feeling + safety + flexibility + comfort + worst HD picture + expensive price + worst range (max 1W) = HDZero goggles. Picture quality + range + low price + worst hardware + worst safety + worst latency + worst comfort = Walksnail. The choice depends on a pilot requirements. At the beginning I wanted best picture that is not DJI, so I went with Walksnail. Now I'm using HDZero because walksnail googles x got broken, and I'm not planning to switch back in a while because of a comfort + locked in feeling + safety + flexibility that HDZero goggles provides (you can SSH to the goggles, how cool is that?).
HDZero goggles are BY FAR the most expensive, but only give a slightly better sharpness than the best analog gear! That makes them a bad value for our Dollars! So little improvement over plain ole analog for soooooo much money is not a good value for our Dollars! ,💰💰💰💰💰💰💰 It's why they're called Analog2! Stick with the BEST ANALOG gear and get the same or better performance with not even close to the cost of HDZero! Can't use cheap analog gear, got to use the best! But, the best is only $20 - 30 bucks more per VTX and camera, so it's not well over $700 just for the HDZero goggles with 4 antennas and a battery. They don't include either when you buy their goggles for $600 bucks! What a GIGANTIC RIP OFF! 😮🤬 REMEMBER, the DJI Integra goggles are only $349 with 4 antennas and a battery anywhere DJI is sold in the USA! Those blow away A N Y other gear you can buy in FPV... Not only because of the price, but because the performance literally K I L L S everything else on the market! Seriously! And, it's reliable and durable, unlike Walksnail and especially HDZero's VTX's! They fail all the Friggin' time!
@@KOrnhOliO1 DJI is a no go for me because it is a closed source, you have 0 control. Yes it does provide the best picture/penetration out there, but that's it. I see no reason on investing in "best" analog goggles, when there's the HD goggles with HD system that is better than analog, and have everything that best analog has and even more.
@@KOrnhOliO1 For me the DJI is a no go because you have literally 0 control, it is completely closed source, they can play you anyhow without you knowing. Also, with closed source you're blocked from creating some cool projects that would require goggles/vtx source code. DJI indeed provides the best picture+penetration, which might be a deal breaker for many. I would rather invest money in an open or partially open sourced system where I can do anything I want, and I don't need to be feared of regulations that might be integrated on a software level, or any other stuff that I can't see. Investing in the best analog goggles makes no sense having the system with digital transmission + everything that best analog goggles provides and even more, unless you're heavily in analog, but even then I would think about HDzero goggles with analog module. There's no silver bullet when choosing goggles or a system. You'll always have to make some compromises.
In my case HDZERO is the way to go because of the small footprint of the VTx since I only fly 2"-3" quads. Image is sufficiently good to see small branches and wires, etc and since 2"-3" quads are not made for long range I don't need more. I also have analog quads this means I don't need to carry 2 different goggles to use all my quads. The image quality is not bad at all, of couse is not DJI's quality but since I am not MinChan I really don't care. And if I wanted awesome videos I just put and insta360 on top of the drones and that would be it.
Would be so nice to see a comparison between Walksnail Goggles L and Fatshark Recon HD. They are both Walksnail and both box goggles and both same price range. But nobody got both to directly compare them.
Coming in as a beginner, most budget friendly beginner wings can be had with a bind-n-fly level kit that includes analog camera and transmitter, perfect to use to learn to fly with, during the period where you should expect to break gear.
I haven't done fpv yet, I'm an rc heli guy but if I were to get into the hobby I'd go with walksnail and a little 2-3" quad. Something light enough to not be likely to break but powerful enough to carry the vtx and have some punch. On a budget, it would be the same just analog.
I have flown HDzero, analog and walksnail together with DJI and analog pilots. Both open field and bandos. I've never had any real issues (once caused a DJI pilot to crash because i forgot to call out when i was plugging in my hdzero... xD). It's simple frequency separation, power level setting and calling out when you are plugging in - everything same like it was with analog. This shouldn't be so difficult.
I suppose if I flew anything smaller than 4" I would be more interested in Walksnail. I started digital with DJI and I don't see myself changing since I value image quality above all.
I think DJI will make the new Goggles 3 compatible with the 03 air units eventually. I have 3 sets of DJI goggles. Goggles V2 that I got with my DJI FPV Drone, I bought the Goggles Integra Motion 2 Combo to use with my Mavic AIR 3, and Mini 4 Pro, & I got the new Goggles 3 with my new Avata 2. I need to learn how to fly acro, so I can start getting into traditional FPV.
@@johnmajka5404 I also have the V2 that I use for flying analog. And the Integra that I use with the DJIFPV and the Avada. I don’t know why they keep saying that it’s not compatible in generally when it clearly is. And honestly, how many generations are there of the other competitors?
Was a many years Analog user, still have goggles and quads but rarely use. Only for the cash strapped now IMO. Bought DJI at Goggles V2 stage once the bugs settled down (for freestyle). Then bought HDZero as well. Why? Walksnail was in an even less usable/reliable state than HDZ, and I thought (so far correctly) that DJI (or a third party doing "compatibles") were never going to produce fully suitable indoor weight/sized product. I don't race, but I do hurtle my 75s around my house and garden (often both) and HDZ's low latency helps A LOT with that. I'm no exceptional pilot, but I can thrash through the above crossbar leg slots on chairs located around the house (55mm high quad through an 80mm high slot) easily and through shrub branches around the garden, all with minimal to no break up and a lovely clear HD image, even with signal passing through part open doorways and house solid brick walls. The main issue with all HD (and HDZ in particular) is heat generation on the VTX and Cameras particularly the tiny Whoop Lite, but also the ECO, etc. I'd have Walksnail as well if they'd only get their act together better than to date. DJI and HDZ are definitely "horses for courses", and I'm not satisfied yet that Walksnail has a balance between them worth spending my available cash to add a third HD/fourth inc analog system. Watching though.
You ask about HDZ Goggles. They are very comfortable once the atrociously cheap n nasty foam supplied as a face seal that's WAY below proper standard is replaced. They adjust easily to my eyes (more than the EMax Transporter HD did!) . I use them nearly every day. Been reliable and updating firmware is easy and quick. With an expensive set of paired stubbys and paired patches from TrueRC, they receive signal excellently. Incidentally, my DJI V2's have also both got replacement face seals too, again not a nice to have but a must, std flat face over hard light leaking ones are truly disgraceful at the cost. Also my secondhand bought Goggles V2 (insurance against failure) came with TrueRC expensive antenna, a complete waste of previous owners money IMO, the reception is the same to the std ones!!
One thing I like about the walksnail is that they also sell a receiver that has HDMI as well as Analog video outputs so you can use them with external big TVs or other goggles with HDMI input (or analog!) I will be going with the walksnail as I want to use a large screen instead of a headset.
Yep! This is a big plus in my opinion. I run Rocket League in real life events and have two 55 inch LED TVs that are hooked up to VRX units on audience mode. This way, the spectators can see what the players are seeing during matches. If someone gets nauseated with the goggles (rarely happens), they can also play using one of the TVs. The latency isn't noticeable when the TVs are on game mode. With that being said, I can also stream both feeds to the TVs and to Twitch at the same time. It's awesome!
Thumbs up, I totally agree the 1S lightweight VTX is what makes Walksnail so good, and it does excellent onboard recording (I think you forgot to mention that) . I take the onboard recording off a Walksnail Mobula8 , slightly stabilize using Gyroflow, upscale to 4K through Davinci = super results. A note here as well plenty of Australian online retailers are selling Walksnail gear, so that results in local support at reasonable prices.
Yeah, but only if it was reliable! And Walksnail is terribly unreliable! Even Nick Burns goggles have failed on him... With little use! Others in this comments section have also reported issues with Walksnail! HDZero VTX's fail all the Friggin' time! One prominent 10 yr. FPV reviewer finally had to stop using HDZero all together because soooo many VTX's had failed on him he couldn't afford to buy anymore! He quit!
@@KOrnhOliO1 Just saying where it is at for me, I have 5 Walksnail VTXs and the original Goggles, with a lot of use. The whole lot has been rock solid reliable for me -- maybe I have just been lucky, but I have to say more reliable than my analogue stuff. Whatever the system that people chose, just get out there fly it and enjoy.
Nice video Stu, I don’t know what goggle you’re using with that HDZero vrx, but it isn’t as good as the actual goggle. Also, the ability to to fly analog drones, which with the interlacing on the goggles, keeps you in that cheap range. You’re right that you get locked in to that ecosystem. But there are still lots of great flying CHEAP analog drones that you can keep flying plus all the old ones I have. You lock yourself into buying only DJI, or Walksnail drones, which tend to be $100 more than the HDZERO drones. So yeah, you get better video, at what cost. Also flying freestyle, you’re always dealing with the wieght of DJI, not to mention thier proprietary nature, where you can only use thier parts. Lots of reasons to not go DJI.
For me: HDzero Variable latency is really disorienting to me, much rather have some sparkles. I don’t race, but also don’t really fly bandos, but hands down HDzero is for me! And except for the high end goggles, it’s not that expensive! Plus you can still do ride-alongs with HDzero, you can’t really with anything else!
If only HDZero made reliable VTX's! Damn, they fail all the Friggin' time! Always buying new VTX's with HDZero! And those goggles are well over $700 because they don't include 4 antennas or a battery too run them! Cheap bastards! Performance sucks too, when compared to DJI, which Integra goggles cost KESS THAN HALF of what the HDZero goggles cost! Rip off!
@@KOrnhOliO1 I’ve never had an HDzero vtx fail. Everything else you mentioned I’ve addressed already. I don’t care how it performs if the latency makes me puke.
Hi Stew, Great video and review of the HD systems out there. I have been thinking about switching to walksnail, and since I already have SKYZONE 03O, and I love the video, I was thinking of the walksnail module so I can use my googles, Thanks for the video and info.
That VRX gives approx 52 - 57ms of latency...so said Joshua Bardwell! That's a lot! Plus, Walksnail is full of bugs and fails way too often for me to recommend it. Even Nick Burns X goggles have fail on him... With little use too! Lots of people reporting problems!😢 They simple release their products too soon. They have lots of bugs and aren't a refined and polished product! Too much money to buy crap! 🤷🤦🤬
Dji all the way, i have lost more drones using walksnail than any other system analog is better as far as digital goes there is only one Dji its just works and the range is the best when it comes to digital walksnail has a long way to go before is a contender
@brandon9689 Yes, that is unfortunate... for me, this was a new endeavor ... I prioritized image quality and flight experience over everything else. So, it was image quality, flight characteristics (stability, RTH, duration), and head tracking. I am not a racer, nor do I fly with others, no swoopy loopy stuff, etc. Avata 2 meets most of what I was after.
Hi Stew , have you tried the DJI V-2 Goggles ? I was thinking of purchasing a pair for just flying my camera drones around but have been so disappointed with a few that Were highly praised but were just so disappointing ! Cost of digital goggles has come down so much. It all comes down to the cost of the VTX now. Used DJI Integra and WS AvatarHD/DominatorHD are going for $250 on ebay. $350 new. I just have less DJI 03s than I do WS VTX and the majority of my quads are still analog.

Analog is a great system. Good cam vrx and vtx and you wont even notice the bad video. You get so caught up in spotting gaps you dont notice the rest.
Another great video. Thanks so much! I dont plan on HD though lol. Can you do a 2024 budget build? Thanks heaps!
Which system would you get?
Walksnail
Hdzero
Walksnail
Walksnail🐌
@Stew,.. Is there a clip on digital reciever that will plug in to the HDMI input on top end analog goggles?
For me: HDzero
Variable latency is really disorienting to me, much rather have some sparkles.
No contest mate, it's walksnail full stop, I've tryed all fpv rigs and for price, quality and support walksnail pisses all over the competition
Why did you not talk about or show the avatar
Hi Stew, Great video and review of the HD systems out there. I have been thinking about switching to walksnail, and since I already have SKYZONE 03O, and I love the video, I was thinking of the walksnail module so I can use my googles, Thanks for the video and info.
That VRX gives approx 52 - 57ms of latency...so said Joshua Bardwell! That's a lot!
Plus, Walksnail is full of bugs and fails way too often for me to recommend it. Even Nick Burns X goggles have fail on him... With little use too! Lots of people reporting problems!😢
They simple release their products too soon.
Digital, DJI . (Avata 2).. like watching TV.
It looks amazing but Goggles 3 still doesn't work with air units. If you want to fly more than 1 drone you need to buy Goggles 2/ Integra/ V2
I am still sceptic in buying any other goggle but still thinking of the V-2's for some reason ! If they are no good , then I'm done with the idea of goggles !!!!!🤔 Reproduction Quality In These Goggles are the Real Factor !!! ( Bad Image , Purple or Reddish Tinge , Herein Bone Quality , Focus Capabilities, where the Adjustments doesn't seem to get to the right point and seem to have to go another foot out or in !!!! )
But those or the Integra's for only $349 in the USA and enjoy the very, very best! I highly recommend!
Ok thanks ! @@KOrnhOliO1
spicy analog lol
Mobula 8 DJI it's the bomb
heavy as bomb... and underpowered on 2S :-D
@@chorchecze nope just a fun in door close quarter flyer nothing damaged noone hurt sweet quad m8
My only gripe is flight time but all the micro quads have terrible flight times
I love them, but I killed the flight controller, and I ordered some on backorder and the new one I got is garbage. The new controllers are just falling apart.
@@CrashTestFPV-jo1yn not noticed this my self sorry for your problems ...only thing I can think of did you get from the normal china sites or reputable local sellers
I own hdzero goggles, it's like a swiss pocket knife. You can fly hdzero, analog and walksnail on one goggle.
I don't agree with you that walksnail looks better than hdzero, look at the smearing on grass and vegetation 😅
Hope you get the HDzero goggles one day and review the upcoming hdzero aio for tinywhoops 😉
I would really like to try hdzero one day, from what I have seen it lacks compared to fatsnail and djwhy in almost every other aspect than the grass!! 😂 still really keen for the whoop comparison with fatsnail 1s kits...
@@Steeeve_eafo you really need to try it to see how good it actually is. No variable latency, no framedrops or pixel smearing. Just a nice locked feeling like analog
DJI no doubt about it unless your into whoops
Cost of digital goggles has come down so much. It all comes down to the cost of the VTX now. Used DJI Integra and WS AvatarHD/DominatorHD are going for $250 on ebay. $350 new. I just have less DJI 03s than I do WS VTX and the majority of my quads are still analog.
Stu I'm 15 seconds in and this video is for me. I'm coming in to FPV and I'm confused about digital - perfect vid for me.

Why are you still comparing HDzero with DJI/WS??? And why do you compare with HDzero VRX?..Do you know they have goggles too??? Man, you come from another time!..Come back in 2024 please 😂
I want to show hd zero more. I wish I had the goggles to demo them more to people. but I just cant afford them at this time.
Just got into digital... which walksnail system would you recommend for thr Pavo Pico V2? ✌🏴
1s kit
The 1S mini kit.
DJI is dead brotha
Walksnail all day long 👊
Now, if it was only reliable and not full of bugs and failures!
👎💯🤬
Range and penetration is garbage on HD zero, dji is substantially better than both in this area too.
you are in an expensive hobby to have such a shitty mic lmao. good content tho
Locked in, as you say, to bloody DJI now. Won't have the cash to change for the foreseeable. I did think about changing to something else, but, it's really hard on a budget. I have what I have right now, and I'll just have to deal with it. The only thing holding me back is the size of the 03 air unit in smaller quads. That's a problem. The Smallest I can see is a 85mm whoop, so I'll leave the small stuff for now. No choice.
