It looks like the Motion Controlelr 3 is a fun way to control the Neo, but I would go with the FPV Controller 3 as it has more flexibility! Thank you for your tips! New subscriber here :)
Good channel....and the motion controller does make flying the Neo (and Avata 2) so easily, a lobotomised politician could fly the little guy without a hitch! But as you say, it does lack responsiveness and ofc Manual mode. I ordered my Controller 3 from DJI yesterday...got it at midday today, and will probably be happily crashing my Neo into trees tomorrow!
Appreciate this video a ton lowkey, picked up the Neo to do walkthroughs and realized it might not be the best for them because of the low light issues, but then realized if im in manual mode it shouldnt matter. Literally just confirmed what I was thinking. Looks like Im snagging Goggles N3 and the fpv controller
I’m glad it helped! Yeah I was thinking about why it was struggling in low light and figured it was because the drone was doing most of the flying and if it couldn’t see, it couldn’t fly. My eyes are better in low light than the drone haha
At this point for me, I’ve been looking to get into fpv, so I’m wanting to learn. But I will start with the motion control, then move to the fpv control
Just the video I was looking for (although a bit late 😂. I was torn between which controller to get a week ago( for a complete fpv beginner), so I ended up getting both 😊. Just got to wait until my goggles n3 arrive now. I can't wait 🤪
Haha sorry I came late to the party. Yeah I ended up starting with the motion controller 3 but quickly got the itch for more. Let me know how the N3 goggles work out for you! I’ve been contemplating grabbing one to compare to my Goggles 3 but I’m on a budget lol

For DJI Neo, which controller should you buy for FPV (Motion Controller 3 or FPV Controller 3 The Best Option)? Which one is more stable? I saw the motion controller hit the wall, is this also true for the other controller?
Thanks for the video, I am a first time drone user and fpv of course, I just bought the motion fly more combo and it comes only with the MC3 I am considering to buy the RC3 as I have the same issue with the precision moves find it to hard to control for like you said do an orbit or pass trough tiny spaces my wrist can’t just handle it 😂, I wondering if the settings with the RC3 are different to the MC3 as the ones I get in mine with the MC3 are very limited, if you can make a video showing the differences in that would be awesome 🙌
Great tips MIke. For those who are just normal guys but dream to fly like maverick. I still waiting to DJI for launching what is needed to fly fpv in my country.
Hi there fellow lefty! Yes it works well in the left hand in my opinion. Also I do not believe it works without the goggles. You can technically take the goggles off to fly by sight but you’ll need the goggles connected
@@Mike_G_FPV Thanks! I have a Neo ordered through Amazon, not shipping until Jan 7-19. Must be selling like hotcakes. I think I'll get the DJI RC-N3 Controller upgrade first. Primarily for range. And then the goggles and motion controller later. Not sure how often I'll use the goggles because I only have my dog as a spotter. Haha!
I bought the DJI Neo Fly more combo with the N3 goggles. This comes with the motion controller so had to buy the FPV controller 3 as well 😅 But it's cool i can fly with the motion controller while im learning manual on the simulator. If i like it i will build my own drone in the future! 😃 Great video brother. Keep it up
I think that’s a solid choice! I was impatient to get started so I pieced together my own “combo” with the Goggles 3 because I didn’t know about the N3 lol. I wish the Fly More Combo gave you an option to choose between controllers. It’s funny you mentioned building a drone because flying the Neo has been giving me the itch to dive into the build it yourself drones too👀. I might start with a bind and fly one first though 🤔🤷♂️ Thank you for the support ❤️
@@Mike_G_FPV i was thinking about the avata 2 but a bit expensive for a new hobby. So when i saw the Neo came with new cheap Goggles i was sold haha. I would love to see your progress as a FPV pilot/builder. Good luck mate!
@@Mike_G_FPV So I got the Neo, Goggles n3 and the Motion Controller 3. I like flying closer to the ground. I discovered the Neo doesn't like being 2 or less feet from the ground. it will slow itself down if you go lower than 2 feet. Sport Mode goes about 17 MPH. will slow down to about 6mph when 2 feet or less. I wish it went a little faster, not much but maybe 20MPHish. also I noticed in your video that when you aligned the "O" with "+" your drone sort of went a little to the right. Mine does that and I find it annoying. it's harder to gap even larger gaps when they are off. also seems the drone turns easier to the left than it does to the right. I think my next purchase will be the FPV controller.
I’m buying the neo and Avata combos so I can pick and choose which controller I want to use at the time. RC-N3 will be used with the simulator until I have confidence in flying acro
The only sim I could get to work is the SimuDrone on a iPad Pro atm with the rc-n3 When I’ve bought the avata combo and fpv controller 3 ill try others I think the Dji virtual flight should work with them
You can adjust the slide acceleration to make orbiting more controllable, though that might come at the cost of limiting how fast you can orbit. Which of the two controls did you feel wasn't precise enough? The tilt sensor or the joystick?
Oh! I never considered using the slide function. I remember seeing it in the Easy Acro mode on the MC3 but didn’t really dive into it. The MC3 didn’t seem as precise compared to the FPV Controller 3 in my opinion. I was trying to orbit with the MC3 by trying to slide left while aiming it my subject and it was difficult. However it could be a skill issue on my part though 🤣
@@Mike_G_FPV - I think the "slide function" is active by default, in every mode. You just move the joystick sideways while flying. It's the other (automated) moves like drift, flip, etc., that need to be selected in easy acro mode. Orbiting should be possible by matching the tilt of the controller to the position of the joystick (assuming the slide speed is well matched to the rotation speed). It's the same concept as orbiting in full manual mode, but you're doing it all with the same hand. The accuracy will depend on how precise the tilt sensor and joystick on the RC Motion 3 are, compared to the joysticks on the other controllers.
You will need the goggles and the Fly More app I believe. It walks you through it. I also think that if you hold down the power button on the goggles and then hold down the power button on the controller, you can pair them that way as well
Does the FPV controller 3 software allow you to switch the control mode to "mode 4"? That just means the right stick is rudder (yaw) and left stick is aileron (bank)
Hey Mike ! Thanks for answering my questions on how each controller functions. I haven't gotten into fpv yet but maybe this spring. I would really consider the Neo if we could order the kit with a controller and goggles like every other country can . I still don't get that. Anyway, good vid ! New sub
Thanks for watching and I’m glad I helped! I had no drone experience prior to about a month ago so all of this is new to me. I’m a fairly quick learner if it’s something I’m really into though. The Neo is a pretty nice drone in my opinion. I don’t understand why they don’t release the headset and controller combo to all countries either, maybe it’s some sort of regulatory issue 🤔
Great video! From my point of view, I think its definitely not worth buying the MC3 and than buy the more expensive FPV RC3 when you build the confidence. Unfortunately if you happen to purchase the Flymore Combo + Goggles N3 + FPV RC3 separate would cost already as much as the Avata 2. Let alone if you buy another controller.
Thank you! I wish they would at least give you options with the fly more combo. At least allow you to choose the controller. I was going to lean for the Avata 2 but I wanted to keep the weight sub 250 grams
