    Now that the product page is live we know the antenna is a directional “high gain” 4.9 dBi. Surprising reception behind myself and below the stone front cabinet, albeit not far away. We also know it has the ability to insert lenses. Sorry I wished I had received this information prior to the video

      Theres X2 patches (tx/rx) and X2 dipoles (rx/rx) inside, so I'm assuming the advertised dBm is an average value.

    Love the low price, but the headtracking is not helping that. Who thought "We must include headtracking!"? They could have lowered the cost more or used the "headtracking" money towards making it work with analog also.

      The 9-DoF IMU they put in this thing to allow head tracking would cost a few dollars at most. I think it's a sensible inclusion when you consider the broader context.
      Exclusive quad pilots don't care of course, but it will make the goggles more appealing to FPV wing pilots, and it creates an affordable, integrated goggles + head tracking solution that can be used with the camera gimbals that Caddx have also just launched.

      analog is decent for tiny whoops as long as you're not pushing it too far away. I'd love to try HD though just to see the difference. It must be amazing to see the details.

    • @NickBurnsFPV
      @NickBurnsFPV  Місяць тому +3

      I don't suspect DJI is interested in the tiny whoop market. I would suspect they are mostly interested in the highest image quality they can get in a platform that has GPS and now RID. But who knows, maybe they want to be in the sub 100gram market and have something up their sleeve....dreams :)

    • @KOrnhOliO1
      @KOrnhOliO1 Місяць тому

      @@NickBurnsFPV Remember, EVERYTHING over 250grams has RID. You can build some dynamite 2" quads and 85mm whoops with DJI vVTX's in them. The Naked Vista is only about 12g with a nano camera and that set up BLOWS AWAY ANYTHING from Walksnail and HDZero! Without a doubt. I see HDZero videos of guys flying their whoops and they can't fly any farther than an Analog whoop can! Plus, there's SOOOO MUCH SNOW!!!
      A person needs to only use their head to innovate and make KILLER 85mm whoops and 2" quads with DJI in them. You can build them with far less weight than what the manufacturers come up with. And the performance is SPECTACULAR! I have used the naked Vista/Link in those quads / whoops and they fly great, with crystal clear image quality - BUT THE BIGGEST BENEFIT is they are nearly bulletproof reliable - Unlike the crap coming out of Walksnail and HDZero which fail so often they should be pulled from the market they are such LEMONS!!! Seriously!!

      The other affordable Walksnail box goggles, the Fatshark Recon HD, provide that spectator capability, sort of.
      They have HDMI out via USB-C, which you can feed into either a portable HDMI monitor or, with a suitable adaptor, a phone.
      Apparently the Recon HDs are now being discontinued, but it looks like a few places still have stock.

      If anyone complains about the price, analog still exists... However, in this day and age it's insane to me that a 1080p screen with a small VRX and battery in a box costs as much as it does.
      Bring on OpenIPC etc creating cheaper open source products!
      Give it a couple of years and hopefully it's more compelling to make the jump to HD.

    These are very fairly priced, although I’m a little intrigued how they’ll sit into the long term product line up. Didn’t Caddx say something about a new system when they launched the Goggles X? Thanks for the shoutouts Nick, I massively appreciate it.
      No CaddX has not sent me these or a number of their recent products to review.
      I don’t know for sure but it’s likely related to the fact I recently refused to sign an NDA CaddX provided due to it being very wide scope and having massively overbearing conditions.
      These conditions included, I would be potentially in breach if shared any CaddX IP or secrets, I would be required to defend their IP and company secrets and finally by signing I would be agreeing to pay $100,000 compensation to them if found in breach.
      This NDA would have massively hampered my ability to make the content I usually make such as the technical deep dives, images on my FPV Wiki and even doing a Teardown would put me in potential breach.
      As such I refused.
      I have signed many NDA’s from many companies over the years however this is the first time I have felt this was a “trap” or really put me at risk. I work with many companies as you do on new releases without NDAs without issues and we always keep information shared in confidence as such. I don’t have a problem with an nda however it must be specific, fair and not risk having an impact on my channel and theirs was as far away from that as it could be.
      As such since then I have stopped receiving CaddX products to review.
      As stated on my stream I would not run out usually to cover every product as I did not review the Fatshark Avatar budget goggle but this is a little more interesting than that with the head tracking ect and i would have been interested in trying to do something a little different as you have already suggested.
      Here and now as it stands I will likely not be reviewing CaddX products moving forward, as you know covering after the fact is a real challenge from a UA-cam perspective and while I will be canvassing my audience on what they want me to cover it won’t be everything.
      The reality is it’s getting harder and harder to be a channel that does what I do. Manufacturer don’t like it, that means the things I have done will become a thing of the past.
      I really appreciate the shout outs Nick
      Ian aka Mad.

    • @NickBurnsFPV
      @NickBurnsFPV  Місяць тому +4

      @@MadRC Well that certainly stinks big time. I think the community appreciates your tear downs and expertise. Sorry I was so over confident you would have a set to tear down. I hope I didn't put you or your channel in a negative light.
      Its curious you have been apart of so many NDAs. I think in the last five years I have received one and refused and they relented. It seems very short term thinking, you or anyone could buy a set or even borrow a set, tear them down, document and still publish and there is nothing they could do.
      Maybe its time for a Madstech tear down fund?

    Hey nick. Any idea on whats a better walksnail experience when comparing something like these new goggles to say getting a walksnail vrx system for my hdzero goggles?.

      The hdzero displays are going to be higher resolution and thus more clear and have more "features", but there is some latency added during hdmi processing. I personally believe if we are flying faster or doing something along the lines of freestyle "tricks" we are better served avoiding hdmi inputs, this is something I have to recommend as we don't know from person to person if the added hdmi processing latency will be an issue or not.
