@@maxhadanidea "I never lie, hide helmet, no cap." M'aiq is wealthy enough to own a hide helmet and feels no need to lie about it. M'aiq also is a Khajiit. @@bronytr There's a few more explained in a top comment above this one: 1. Hide helmet is an option that would make the cap he wears disappear. Hide helmet, no cap. 2. A hide helmet is no cap - which is literally true; hence, not a liar. I never lie, hide helmet, no cap. 3. No cap is another way of saying I'm not lying. There are more but these were the best pointed out by people.

Here's all the references/cameos I could find, please feel free to add if I missed some: 0:51 the Elder scroll shows footage of other Young Scrolls videos, e.g. Breton Boys and "the Fine" 1:23 Title "Liar Liar" refers to the TWO liars in the song, namely M'aiq the Liar and Todd, who has frequently been caught lying about features in upcoming games. 1:23 text says "stay hydrated", a reference to Young Scrolls' song "Drink Water" 1:23 producers/record labels are "Psijicolor" and "N'wahcell", referencing the Psijic Order of Mages, and the term "N'wah" (Dunmer slur for 'outlanders') from TES lore. 1:42 "Nut treat", an actual food item in TES games (Skyrim), here with a double meaning as an innuendo. 1:51 "Elon musk/smoking sugar" is referencing the Tesla CEO's infamous weed smoking interview 2:01 word play with the double meaning of "hoe", as both an adult profession and a gardening tool. 2:01 "called my junk a treasure" is a reference to a line commonly said by merchants in TESV Skyrim, namely "one man's trash is another man's treasure" 2:07 "capper" (dictionary definition: "One who acts as a decoy, as in a confidence game.") could be referring to M'aiq's role as a sidekick to the true main event (Todd) 2:07 "Colovian fur cap", reference to the Colovian Fur Helm, an item from TES III Morrowind. The model in the video is a replica of Morrowind's item. 2:13 "I never lie, hide helmet, no cap." a word play with multiple meanings: 1. The Hide Cap is in fact a piece of armor in the games, thus referred to as a helmet. 2. "hide" has a double meaning as a) animal hide, and b) as in "to hide/conceal". 3. "No cap" is a reference to "uncapping mods", commonly used in TES games to allow for skill levels (and player character level) to be increased beyond the game's original limit of 100 2:17 "high level, no cap": again a word play, because M'aiq isn't technically wearing a cap, and in combination with "high level" it's likely referencing the "uncapping" game mods again. 2:35 "Richard Mille" is a Swiss luxury watch brand 2:39 "Barenziah" and "Therris": A reference to TES lore, specifically the in-game book "The real Barenziah" found in several TES games. In the book, Therris is a Khajiit and a member of the Thieves Guild in Riften. The Dunmer noblewoman Barenziah had slept with him in exchange for gaining access to the Thieves Guild. 2:39 "Therris wheel" is a word play, sounding similar to "Ferris wheel" 2:52 "these bars" is a word play in the double meaning of bars: metal beams and "bars" as rhythm measure in hip hop. 2:52 "Barbz", short for "Barbiez", is a term referring to devout superfans of rapper Nicki Minaj 2:54 "overencumbered/run" is a reference to the TES game mechanic that would prevent you from running when you are carrying too much in your inventory 2:58 "You can't see me/John Cena" is a reference to WWE Pro Wrestler John Cena and his famous line "You can't see me" (duh) 2:58 "Ring of Khajiiti" is an item in TES games which makes the wearer invisible 3:39 "You didn't think you were the only one/he was the first" is a quote from the trailer for the Skyrim DLC "Dragonborn", taken out of context here 3:52 "Bethesda recycling" a pun referencing the frequent re-using/copy-pasting of game models and mechanics in games developed by Bethesda Game Studios (e.g. Fallout 4 and Fallout 76). 3:57 "sixteen times the detail" is a statement made by Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Horward at the E3 reveal of Fallout 76 in 2018. It is a statement made to emphasize how much the level of in-game graphics detail had supposedly increased when comparing Fallout 4 to Fallout 76. It has since become a meme. 3:59 "2025/Hammerfell" is the potential release date for TES VI, according to an unconfirmed leak. The leak also included the game's location in the Elder Scrolls Universe, the province of Hammerfell. 3:59 "Maybe I'm lying" is an obvious nod to the frequently incorrect/inaccurate claims made by Todd Howard regarding upcoming video games by Bethesda Game Studios. 4:03 "clip through your house", a reference to in-game bugs involving clipping, frequently found in games developed by Bethesda Game Studios 4:05 "Cart on the border to Skyrim" is a reference to the iconic opening scence for TES V Skyrim 4:12 "the 6" is a nickname for the city of Toronto popularized by rapper Drake. It refers to the six municipalities of Toronto. Here, it has a double meaning and may refer to Fallout 76 (seventy-SIX) 4:15 "it isn't a bug, it's a feature" is a meme used to ridicule frequent bugs in Bethesda games, which are usually downplayed by the developer. 4:17 "Nylon Birkin Bag/7-6" is referring to the Fallout 76 collector's edition scandal. Bethesda promised a limited edition canvas bag when ordering the collector's edition of the game, but buyers initially received a nylon bag considered to be of inferior quality. The scandal resulted in a class action lawsuit against Bethesda. "Birkin" is a name for a specific style of high-priced luxury bags, named after British actress Jane Birkin. 4:23 "four times bigger" is another inaccurate statement made by Todd Howard at the E3 reveal of Fallout 76 in 2018. He made the statement that Fallout 76's game world would be four times bigger than that of Fallout 4. 4:25 "degenerate" is referring to a statement from E3 2018, in which Todd Howard called the audience "degenerates", after demonstrating how he was able to play Skyrim on a mobile device with only one hand. He added "you never know when you'll need a free hand" (a clear innuendo on his part), which was followed by laughter in the audience and then Todd's "degenerate" statement. It was clearly meant as a joke, but has since been taken out of context in the meme community. 5:18 text says "I'm sorry, Todd. I love you" 5:44 pop-up dialogue says "prophecy.exe has stopped working" followed by "HYRMA MORA PADO ADA OIA NAGAIA ABA AGEA CAVA APOCRA DENA GORIA GANDRA ARCAN". This is a passage from the in-game book "Fragmentae Abyssum Hermaeus Morus" in The Elder Scrolls Online. It may translate to "Hermaeus Mora, elder than Ada, Abyssal Cephaliarch, hearken to the plea of this unworthy, for I come to barter for knowledge denied". It is a Sermon to the Daedric Prince of Knowledge and Fate, Hermaeus Mora, who makes appearances in several TES games.
"The 6" is a reference to TES 6 as well as Toronto. Barbs on my dick is also a reference to some big cats literally having barbs on their dicks. A Capper in modern slang is a liar, or bullshitter. So "No Cap" is saying "I'm not lying" as well as those other meanings
"I never lie, hide helmet, no cap" wait so like Hide Helmet like the helmet made out of hide but also "hide helmet" like the option to make your headgear invisible bruh i love this channel
@@7bladesky890 I might be missing some bits, but “no cap” here is referring to at least three things: no cap as in not lying, no cap as in no literal “cap” or hat, and no cap as in no maximum level. “I never lie” clearly refers to the first meaning, “hide helmet” refers to the second (either because wearing a helmet prevents you from wearing a Colovian fur cap or because he’s “hiding” his helmet and removing the helmet from his character model [which is a mod]), and high level refers to the third meaning (where Maiq is saying that his maximum level is unlimited).
@@PikaPik3 [I'm so fly, high level] can also be perceived as he's so fly meaning high up, like a high level. (High level bridge, high level building). That just adds an extra meaning to the line, though I'm not sure if it's intended or not. Perception is beautiful

I think this is officially my favorite song Young Scrolls has ever made. It's clever and funny as always, but M'aiq flexes in such a subtle yet powerful way. The hook is insanely clever, and the beat is genuinely one so good, I don't know how he made music that good to go with Todd Howard rapping. Thank you so much, made my day.
I’m really partial to Star, but I absolutely LOVED this one as well. Mostly for the reasons you already mentioned haha. The video itself too was really good.
Justin Robison although an Esraj can produce this same kind of sound, I believe this it is actually a Middle Eastern Kemençe that is being used in this instrumental in particular.
The most sincerest thank you for this Young Scrolls. My cat had died a few days ago, and your music has been the only thing to cheer me up. The news of your new release, and it focusing on the illustrious Khajiiti M'aiq is the best news I've had all week.
For those unaware of the genius of the line. According to "The Real Barenziah" books in TES: Barenziah was a dunmer woman who was seeking entry to the thieves guild, in order to achieve this she slept with a kahjiit member of the thieves guild named therris. Hence the line.
She is not some Dunmer woman, she's the Queen of Morrowind, and for long time the political face of the nation in international matters (something Dunmer are generally not really good at). The Real Barenziah was written by her personal scribe based on her anectodes, and while she publically denounced the writ she sheltered him from persecution, and even reportedly found the book fun. The section about her getting nailed by the khajiit in public was omitted after Daggerfall to satisfy censors - of ESRB out of universe, and of Tribunal Temple in-universe.
2 years later, the "I'll clip through your house, put you in a cart on the border of Skyrim because that's what you get for running your mouth" still hits hard like a Dragon-bone Warhammer.
In one of the games (either ESO or Skyrim), he says his father, and his father's father, and so on, were all named M'aiq. The idea is immortal, even if he isn't.
“I’m sorry, but I’m not talking about Toronto when I say I’m in the 6”. Like, WHAT! How the he’ll are you not writing for real, dude? That shit’s hype.
Matt the “6” has also seen multiple uses in popular rap songs almost entirely stemming from the toronto based rap collective OVO which drake is apart of. Hence the songs “6 god”, the notable line on the song “know yourself” which reads: “running through the 6 with my woes”, and the album titled “views from the six.”

Also M'aiq The Liar saying "I never lie" self explanatory
@@bronytr There's a few more explained in a top comment above this one:
1. Hide helmet is an option that would make the cap he wears disappear. Hide helmet, no cap.
2. A hide helmet is no cap - which is literally true; hence, not a liar. I never lie, hide helmet, no cap.
3. No cap is another way of saying I'm not lying.
There are more but these were the best pointed out by people.
also don't forget the "I'm so fly, high level, no cap" part, which means that he is already at a high level, but it is uncapped, meaning he can infinitely level up

Here's all the references/cameos I could find, please feel free to add if I missed some:
0:51 the Elder scroll shows footage of other Young Scrolls videos, e.g. Breton Boys and "the Fine"
1:23 Title "Liar Liar" refers to the TWO liars in the song, namely M'aiq the Liar and Todd, who has frequently been caught lying about features in upcoming games.
1:23 text says "stay hydrated", a reference to Young Scrolls' song "Drink Water"
1:23 producers/record labels are "Psijicolor" and "N'wahcell", referencing the Psijic Order of Mages, and the term "N'wah" (Dunmer slur for 'outlanders') from TES lore.
1:42 "Nut treat", an actual food item in TES games (Skyrim), here with a double meaning as an innuendo.
1:51 "Elon musk/smoking sugar" is referencing the Tesla CEO's infamous weed smoking interview
2:01 word play with the double meaning of "hoe", as both an adult profession and a gardening tool.
2:01 "called my junk a treasure" is a reference to a line commonly said by merchants in TESV Skyrim, namely "one man's trash is another man's treasure"
2:07 "capper" (dictionary definition: "One who acts as a decoy, as in a confidence game.") could be referring to M'aiq's role as a sidekick to the true main event (Todd)
2:07 "Colovian fur cap", reference to the Colovian Fur Helm, an item from TES III Morrowind.
3. "No cap" is a reference to "uncapping mods", commonly used in TES games to allow for skill levels (and player character level) to be increased beyond the game's original limit of 100
2:17 "high level, no cap": again a word play, because M'aiq isn't technically wearing a cap, and in combination with "high level" it's likely referencing the "uncapping" game mods again.
2:35 "Richard Mille" is a Swiss luxury watch brand
2:39 "Barenziah" and "Therris": A reference to TES lore, specifically the in-game book "The real Barenziah" found in several TES games. In the book, Therris is a Khajiit and a member of the Thieves Guild in Riften. The Dunmer noblewoman Barenziah had slept with him in exchange for gaining access to the Thieves Guild.
2:39 "Therris wheel" is a word play, sounding similar to "Ferris wheel"
2:52 "these bars" is a word play in the double meaning of bars: metal beams and "bars" as rhythm measure in hip hop.
2:52 "Barbz", short for "Barbiez", is a term referring to devout superfans of rapper Nicki Minaj
2:54 "overencumbered/run" is a reference to the TES game mechanic that would prevent you from running when you are carrying too much in your inventory
2:58 "You can't see me/John Cena" is a reference to WWE Pro Wrestler John Cena and his famous line "You can't see me" (duh)
2:58 "Ring of Khajiiti" is an item in TES games which makes the wearer invisible
3:39 "You didn't think you were the only one/he was the first" is a quote from the trailer for the Skyrim DLC "Dragonborn", taken out of context here
3:52 "Bethesda recycling" a pun referencing the frequent re-using/copy-pasting of game models and mechanics in games developed by Bethesda Game Studios (e.g.
4:03 "clip through your house", a reference to in-game bugs involving clipping, frequently found in games developed by Bethesda Game Studios
4:05 "Cart on the border to Skyrim" is a reference to the iconic opening scence for TES V Skyrim
4:12 "the 6" is a nickname for the city of Toronto popularized by rapper Drake. It refers to the six municipalities of Toronto. Here, it has a double meaning and may refer to Fallout 76 (seventy-SIX)
4:15 "it isn't a bug, it's a feature" is a meme used to ridicule frequent bugs in Bethesda games, which are usually downplayed by the developer.
I love you"
5:44 pop-up dialogue says "prophecy.exe has stopped working" followed by "HYRMA MORA PADO ADA OIA NAGAIA ABA AGEA CAVA APOCRA DENA GORIA GANDRA ARCAN".
"No cap," also is slang for "I'm not lying."
Thanks for sharing your wisdom and enhancing my knowledge about TES and many other things. I really appreciate it :)

im so fly, high level, no cap"

can you explain these lines pls, i don't understand
@@7bladesky890 I might be missing some bits, but “no cap” here is referring to at least three things: no cap as in not lying, no cap as in no literal “cap” or hat, and no cap as in no maximum level.
“I never lie” clearly refers to the first meaning, “hide helmet” refers to the second (either because wearing a helmet prevents you from wearing a Colovian fur cap or because he’s “hiding” his helmet and removing the helmet from his character model [which is a mod]), and high level refers to the third meaning (where Maiq is saying that his maximum level is unlimited).
@@PikaPik3 wow thank you for such an amazing explanation, i got it
@@PikaPik3 [I'm so fly, high level] can also be perceived as he's so fly meaning high up, like a high level. (High level bridge, high level building). That just adds an extra meaning to the line, though I'm not sure if it's intended or not. Perception is beautiful

How does one go so hard with so little
Can’t believe more people aren’t talking about that therris wheel line
A lot of lines in this made me crack up, but that one alone got a proud "HA!"
For those unaware of the genius of the line. According to "The Real Barenziah" books in TES:
Barenziah was a dunmer woman who was seeking entry to the thieves guild, in order to achieve this she slept with a kahjiit member of the thieves guild named therris. Hence the line.
SHIEET
Don't know the REAL tes lore

Monetum 1 the “6” is a nick name for Toronto. And I think the line is also referencing Todd being in development of ES6
