Thanks so much for these videos, they are very helpful in thinking "outside the box" on exercise variations. One move that I am doing regularly now in my leg workout was inspired by you in a previous video and is similar to the one you featured here, suggested by your son. It's the seated two legged press but with the feet squarely on the squat stand. I load 50 lbs of plates on either side of the weight bar and attach 4 resistance bands as well. I get an incredibly intense set from doing it this way and I've definitely seen results. So, thanks again for your tips and inspiration!
Ok the algorithm is kinda freaking me out. I needed an isolated quad move on the Total Gym (beyond squats) and here you are. Your son's suggested is great! The pilates bar one looks challenging... my legs might be too short, but I can adapt. I need some chain but will try the resistance tubes.! (Nice shirt!! Love it.)
Thanks for this. I was just thinking the other day that there didn’t seem to be a specific TG exercise (that I knew of) that was focusing on quads. When I used to do circuit training (nautilus style) I remember my quads gaining definition for the first time. I’m not necessarily working out for that reason right now, but more for making heavy tasks in gardening, etc. easier. I was annoyed last fall when I was moving endless yards of compost how tired I was. But still 🤔 lol
Haha yes, I think I need show this one again on a "new exercises" video. I honestly don't remember. Pretty sure I just clipped in standing up, faced the tower standing and laid down.
This is great! I’m sorry if I missed any info on where to get attachments. I didn’t see a link on comments. Would you mind sharing the link to those chains you have for leg extension? Thank you!
Lowes or Home Depot orAce Hardware can cut you lengths of chain. Just be sure to take your carabiner with you so you can be sure they’ll easily and quickly fit into the links.
You can really just go to your local hardware store and pick up chains and carabiners there that suit your preference if that's what you're talking about.
Good video....thanks much....appears more glut...upper leg based than ...calf.......would politely asked for more calf exercises video...however again this video had good ideas. Appreciated
Love this!!! This is what ive been looking for. Now to order some anklee straps and chain extensions. Im having trouble calculating the weight of my exercises .i have a total gym xls and it has 5 levels. How do i know how much resistance im getting. And leg videos are really helping. My upper body strength is well.. but me legs. Uhggg..lol
Thanks for asking. Here's a link to the ankle cuffs amzn.to/3ktfoo9 and here's a link for the bands amzn.to/3F0CdJk they have smaller sets, but I just got this one so I could double up on the same color/size.
Another great video. Quads are something I have trouble with. I like the squat type exercises and I also do a version of your #4, but with no chains and doing 1 leg at a time. Even with some external weight it seems fairly easy for me, and I am not that fit. I am thinking of trying your #5 with one leg and no chains as well. When I do 1 leg at a time I just let the other cable sit in the pulley. Does that seem ok, or is there a better way to set this up? Maybe some way to increase the difficulty a bit.
That seems like it should work. If it were me, I might try adding external weight or some bands to up the tension to see how that feels. Otherwise if it's too cumbersome, I'd just ditch the exercise.
Sorry for the delay in answering this. I haven't tried ankle weights yet, but if you mean the ankle straps, yes I think they're great for some exercises.
Definitely need some sort of chains or extension to the cable and it’s not too bad. I featured that in the last video if you haven’t seen it. In retrospect, I should have shown myself getting into it regardless.
I told you this several times but your creativity with these machines is off the charts.
Thanks again Lou. You guys are motivating me to discover new stuff, not to mention all the comments you guys share.

Thanks for the positive comments and for sharing that exercise. I’m going to give that a try for sure .

Awesome to hear that the algorithm is working! Thanks for watching.
Great exercises tips!
@3:35 Smart kid!!!
Appreciate it thank you. Just shared it with him.
Thanks for these exercises/tips, this is just what I was looking for!
No problem at all, thank you for watching.
Thanks for this "Leg Extension" Total Gym video....
FOUND IT....
Awesome. Happy you found it.

I'm gonna need a separate video on how you transitioned in and out of Exercise 5.
haha, people have said that. I've featured it again in another video, just don't remember which one. It's honestly probably not worth the work.
@@hybridresistance Hah. Good to know. I see you answered one of my other requests about lower body and back.
8:42 😂😂😂
Cut frame. How did you get into and out of that position???🤔 I mean without help.

I’ll give these ideas a try.
Hello where did you get the chain and extra hooks?
You can really just go to your local hardware store and pick up chains and carabiners there that suit your preference if that's what you're talking about.
@@hybridresistance also how long are the chains and the exact name of them
Gold! Thank you!
Thank you.
Would the shoulder part be the next video?
I look into doing that on the next one.
Very good ideas

Thank you for the comment. I'm looking at revamping and going into more leg focused videos with these machines in the near future.
Thanks
Where can you get the elastic band attachments and what are they called? Thank you for your innovative ideas.
I was using these amzn.to/3AZFjNu thanks for watching.
@@hybridresistance Much thanks. 🙏
At 4:48 area, for calves you could put your toes on that bar and let the rest of the foot hang below it and do calf raises, no?
Laying on your back instead
Yes, I’ve got a video on that, but that Pilates bar in general is great for calves. Works great with bands and weight.
Do u have link on the bands and ankle cuffs
Thanks for asking. Here's a link to the ankle cuffs amzn.to/3ktfoo9 and here's a link for the bands amzn.to/3F0CdJk they have smaller sets, but I just got this one so I could double up on the same color/size.

How long are the chains?
About a foot each.
I been thinking on using ankle weights while using the total gym on some exercises do you think that’s a good ideal ?
Sorry for the delay in answering this. I haven't tried ankle weights yet, but if you mean the ankle straps, yes I think they're great for some exercises.
How in the world did you get into position for exercise #5?? 👍😃
Definitely need some sort of chains or extension to the cable and it’s not too bad. I featured that in the last video if you haven’t seen it. In retrospect, I should have shown myself getting into it regardless.
wouldn't it be easier to do those exercises with resistance bands?
I suppose so, I'd say it's just a different tension.
Looks like the knees are being locked out when u come up
ua-cam.com/video/_YyrJAnoXwc/v-deo.html
Quads with bad knees? Not lower than 90 degrees..,I think😎
Your son's exercise is a lot like a sissy squat. Nice.
