I bought my Ultimate Body Works recently from Walmart cost $149 not including taxs. They said that it would arrive in September but actually took around 8days to arrive, just received it yesterday and I love it. And thanks for the videos man the workouts are really helping me.
I’ve had both the Weider and Total Gym. Total Gym is better, but the Weider is still pretty good. One big difference is the Weider you can’t remove the cable pulley from the bench. So if you’re doing pull-ups, squats, or any exercise without the cables the cable with handles will keep bouncing up and down which is just annoying. Costco regularly has Total Gyms available and occasionally has them on pretty good sales. That said, there is no better place than Craigslist or anywhere else used. Before Covid you could find AMAZING deals. I got a Weider in brand new condition for $50, used it for 2 years, then sold it for $75. Even better than both of these is another “knockoff” called Bayou Total Trainer. It was actually MUCH nicer than a high end Total Gym. Everything was better quality, several features the Total Gym doesn’t have, it was AMAZING, but... the company that made them discontinued them (last time I checked). The company is still in business though, you can find them on google, just search “Bayou Fitness”. The Bayou one I bought a few years ago was sold on their site for $1,000. I found one in brand new condition, with every part/attachment, and manuals on Craigslist for $100!!! I don’t think it had ever been used. I used it for 2 years, then sold it when I moved for $200 (that was a mistake, I should have kept it). Now I have a mid level Total Gym I got at Costco that I think would normally go for about $500 to $700. I got it on sale (pre-Covid) for $200. I love it, but I do miss that Bayou Total Trainer. It was just superior in every way. Bigger more comfortable glide board, bigger squat stand, excellent lock mechanism for storing it away, rollers made it easy to move, better attachments. Hopefully Bayou Fitness will bring it back or Total Gym will incorporate some of the great features. PS: Excellent video. I’m sure it is very helpful for many people. 👍🏻
@@longyone1980 Yes, I did that but the cables still swing up and down. It is a very simple change Weider could make. Weider is still a great product, especially for the price. I was just comparing the two. Two positives of the Weider over the total gym is the size of the squat attachment and the resistance cables at the bottom to increase max weight/resistance. The lower end total gyms (under $1,000 new) have a very small squat attachment and no way to add additional resistance. You have to buy one for $1,500+ to get a bar for additional weight and I still think the $150 Weider with resistance bands is better.
I've bought two different Total Gyms used locally for less then $100 each - both were hardly used and GREAT! I agree with you that there are a lot of options with the base models and if you love it, you can always upgrade!! (I originally bought a really basic one, but it didn't have a squat stand and when I was using it and realizing I wish I had one that's when I started looking for a used one that was a better model) Thanks for the info comparing with the Weider, I was curious about those!
Thanks for watching. I've heard there are some steals for these machines out there in price. I did just post a video today where I compare my new total gym to my weider if you want to see a side by side.
The bar attachments on the g3/5 aren't for holding onto while you squat, although, I guess you could. They're dip bars and one of my favorite attachments. They work incredibly well. Also, my weider gym does fold down flat and can easily be stowed under a bed or a closet, so I personally wouldn't consider that feature a negative thing compared to how my total gym folds.
Weider Ultimate Body Works is nice, but I hate how there's no weight bar attachment (especially when the cords start to get loose). I've had to tie knots in a couple of the cords just to maintain resistance.
The weider one extends super long and very high also. How it shows in the picture isnt the real length. That's what it looks as short as it goes. Only part that sucks is the not wide enough foot part but the total gym ones can be small as well. I strap a board onto it to make it wider.
Well I want to know is what is an incline resistance level, the total gym fit has 12 incline levels. And the Total gym SL X I think or the one right next to the total fit has eight resistance levels.
But my thought behind asking is why I spend the extra $1,000 if the incline levels really don't change how much weight you're moving, and if they do I'm pretty sure I can put a piece of wood under it to get the extra incline levels.
The Fit is slightly taller (granted not by much), has a longer frame, and can handle more weight (50lbs) more. Also consider that you can actually find them at times basically new / refurbished with warranty (did a recent video on this) on ebay and actually cheaper than an XLS. Great questions though. The XLS is still great, don't get me wrong.
I got that red and black one but it says 5,000 at the end and I use it for stretching my back pain out my body weight goes up and down so I have to be careful when I'm too slim to not use it too much I have mine for 4 to 5 years and I got it for $79 at Walmart online hey I only came with the machine no poster it is a little wiggly wobbly but it does his job I love it. The cheap one is just fine for me all the accessories the same they don't need them that's really really get up to 250 and you need that body builder muscles I think I might need to put some weights on it.
Yes I've seen them and do link it below on most of my videos. It seems like a great deal considering all the bells and whistles that it comes with. I personally just haven't used one to really comment. I almost considered it, but I liked the idea of having the "Total Gym" name and considering their history, I trusted their customer service/quality.
Another great video! I just can’t see spending $1500 for a Total Gym Fit. Even the Total Gym G1,G3, G5 seem pricey considering the do not look any sturdier than the Weider for $150. What to do....lol! Maybe get the Weider and if things go well hold out for a used TG Fit for about $500. Again, thanks for your expertise on these home gyms!
I got lucky with the Total Gym Fit. I ordered it and something on their system kept canceling my order a few days later, so I waited for weeks to get it (this was pre-pandemic). I ended up calling them a third or fourth time, clearly frustrated, and they gave me the Total Gym Fit for only $600.
I likely am going to do a video on that machine. I'm still awaiting some information I had about the product from the company. Overall though it looks like a good deal considering their current sale.
I has fitness quest pilates power gym in past, loved the ankle strap option for lower body resistance work. I just received the Weider ultimate (finally after few months backordered). I watched your video on using the pulleys for the lower legs , hamstrings. can I do the same circular motions done on the pilates with this Weider model? I just ordered the leg straps recommended by you, thanks!!!
Do the cables from on the (Wieder ultimate body works) detach from the slide board to allow you to do pull-ups and squats without them making all that noise by clanking all around?
Damn, i was gonna order the Weider gym when it came back in stock but I guess not now. I'm 300lbs. Was hopin to buy one of these machines to help me drop the weight. Can't afford the total gym XLS. It's a grand. Just shit out of luck I guess. Nice review though.
I'm going to do a weightloss video soon, but maybe consider the cheaper total gyms on amazon? The Total Gym G1 Model holds up to 300lbs and is $299. amzn.to/33qPSZt And the G3 Model up to 300lbs : amzn.to/39ZpK9u Also, another guy told me he's 270 and said the weider body works held up fine.
Go to Facebook marketplace a lot of people buy these machines and don't use them some are practically next to nothing compared to retail I got mine from my wife her father owned it but passed away so I got it. It's a 1400 I hope to upgrade one day but I'll never pay retail used are just as good just not as expensive
@@hybridresistance it truly isn't...I miss the ability to add resistance bands to the weirder...and seemed to to be a lil sturdier...If I can find and xls for about 150-200 then Id stick with Total...I like how modular it is...
I used the weider ultimate body works when I was 270.lbs, it seemed pretty stable even though the recommended weight was 250.lbs.
That's good for people to know.

I got the total gym XL7 with 12 resistant levels and all the attachments at Sams club for 299. I love your channel! That’s for all your workout tips!
The Weider Body Works is all anyone needs. Don't worry about the weight it can take it. Enjoyed some of your work out videos on the Weider. Thanks.

All you have to do is put the handles on the pull up bar

Weider Body works: Costs way less, works practically the same.
Total Gym: Chuck Norris approved.🤣
im not at Chuck Norris level ... so i guess i will buy the Weider Boder works.

You should mention the Total GYM Extreme. I bought it from COSTCO, it comes with all the attachments for $330 and it is 350 user pounds.
Thanks for mentioning that. I know Costco sold one awhile back.

You mentioned the total gym fit model can be brought for $700.00 used by a third party retailer. Does the reduction in price affects the warranty?
I believe is does not unless it is still new or "refurbished" from Total Gym. I will do a video on this in the future.
@@hybridresistance Thanks, looking forward to the video.
I need to know the differences between models as the title suggests. I must move on as I want to order something soon.
what is the percent of bodyweight used at the top level of the weider bodyworks
Great video, very informative, thanks!
Thanks for watching. Also check out a recent a video where I directly compare my Weider to my Total Gym Fit ua-cam.com/video/4s0Fxb9z-C0/v-deo.html
You can buy that one at Wal-Mart.com

How many height adjustments on Weider unit?
There are 7 functional increases in incline. Check out this video for a lot more detail. ua-cam.com/video/4s0Fxb9z-C0/v-deo.html

No unfortunately not. If the sound gets to me I usually just detach my handles and they're a bit quieter.

Thanks for the review. I think I'm going with weider. Was thinking about $700 total gym, but it's too expensive.
Good call. For the price, I think the Weider machine is decent quality. It's taken a beating and hasn't shown any signs of slowing down.
