4 Valve GY6 Starting

- This is just a short little video showing the start up of of GY6 155cc, 4 Valve project.
To pull off this conversion, you do not need to bore the case, however you do need to split the case and install a 94 link chain. The kit also requires 213mm and 218mm cylinder studs. I also upgraded the entire CVT with a Taiwan Racing variator (longer ramps) organic fiber clutch with 1 inch longer pads, 1500 RPM with perforated clutch bell. - Авто та транспорт
Nevermind, I was gonna comment about that being a two stroke expansion chamber but then read other comments and I also noticed this is like 8 years old video, lol
👍🏻
hi from jarrow england! got my self a gy6 nothing in the uk for these scooters to modify yet but i got to say you are one clever dude doing all this im very impressed!.
take care mate
adam
Oioi Adam from Jarrow. Im from Newcastle but I work in Jarrow
why is there a 2 stroke exhaust on a 4 stroke engine? if anything the 2 stroke tuned pipe will just decrease performance and can even cause exhaust valves to over heat and fail. if i was you id invest in a proper 4 stroke exhaust. heck, even go down to your local automotive store and pick up a small can muffler for a briggs $ stratton for a little under $15 depending where you are at. they work good and sound good.

You may be correct, however the exhaust pipe was sold as a 4 stroke pipe designed for the GY6 150cc. The bracket welded to is made for the original swing arm. "A hunter/phantom" style swingarm. With the new engine, the bracket of course doesn't match up, but it supposed to be a 4 stroke exhaust.
What makes you think it's a 2 stroke exhaust?
Daniel Martin
Okay, so I did some quick searching... This is for sure a 2 stroke exhaust and I'll get it swapped out before I start it again. Thanks for pointing this out... The ad where I purchased this from was very misleading.
Daniel Martin what website did you order it from?
It only looks like a expansion chamber. It's full of baffles inside
@@dmartin925 and yes trust me I know what you mean I have a 50cc TaoTao and I turned into a 93 and I'm going to put a nitrous can on it those places where you order from they can be misleading I Got 5 freaking things wrong because they said it would fit my bike but that's my fault too I should have did some more research and look at my bike and see if it fits or not well most of the parts I couldn't even tell because I had to open it up to see for myself and I'm not a mechanic so I got two people working on it and I figured out the parts I need since they are working on it I need a new stator. Front fork and a little thing from my front tire so I can read my gauge and I need me a new gauge as well
sounds good dan..
Why are you using 2 stroke exhaust on 4 stroke engine?
DAN U ARE THE KING OF SCOOTERS..I ENJOY YOUR PRO WORK AND VIDEOS..LARRY FROM INDIANAPOLIS....
Dude I see you all over UA-cam
Yeah if you ever have a question about modding a scoot this is the guy to ask.
You have some informative videos here on UA-cam. If I may make a suggestion for your engine; notice that hesitation/bog when you blip the throttle? Try replacing that cheap carburetor with a CVK from HOCA/Keihin (these have a black plastic diaphragm cover). These carbs have an accelerator pump which will eliminate the bog. Yes, they do cost 4 or 5 times more, but IMO it's worth it for the performance and quality gain.
And yes, that is a 2-stroke exhaust system you're using. It'll reduce the ultimate performance of that engine because of the backpressure it produces.
agreed. thats an expansion chamber pipe. does give more power to a 2 stroke, but useless on a 4.
high speed test!
How many link chain was needed ?
Guys that is not a 2 stroke exhaust.
It just looks like one.
I have the same exhaust on my baotian 4 stroke 50cc and ive got a 72 cc bore kit on it.
how much speed did it add?
Was the build worth it what is going on with the update
gy6 4v have two stroke tune pipe??
What was the top speed on this engine?
did the power feel like it doubled? i have a 150cc gy6 buggy that the take is super slow. gutted exhaust, uni fliter, 130 main, a10 cam, 12 gram sliders. 24 mm stock carb
It is slow because you have to change your gear box (i mean variator) or clutch. Anyway search it on google to be sure
Just upgrade your carb to 26 or 28mm, main and slow jet, performance roller like dr.pulley and bigger variator, 1k or 1.5k rpm clutch spring, performance cdi n coil, double iridium spark plugs, and your buggy will fast
Carb sound like not tuned. Its bogging on throttle.
this needs a proper 4 stroke performance exhaust
to have a significant benefit from the 4 valve head
Not Tru. My bike has a straight pipe
were do u gott the 216mm stud to the head pls cant get them thow they send me 4 210mm insted???'
+Micke Lundberg I used a set made by a company called Taida. I have them stocked in my at shop.martinmopeds.com ... I only ship to USA though for the time being. Are you located in America?
no in SWEDEN :( thanks anyway
and would the 4valve kit fit on my gy6 150 with a 172big bore kit?
No.
You would need a 4 valve piston and a taller cylinder, taller studs, longer chain, etc etc.... By the time you'r done, none of your BBK would be left.
+Daniel Martin wym longer cylinder
where can i find the head? And the fuel injection.

That's not a 2 stroke exhaust! It only looks like a expansion chamber. It's full of baffles inside.
🤦🏾♂️
Check out my new web forum at www.dansgaragetlak.com to discuss. I look forward to seeing ya there!
Daniel Martin
Hi Dan just want to make sure you direct your viewers to the correct URL: www.dansgaragetalk.com
maybe you can use PWK 36 Carburetor
Will be more powerful horsepower will rise
what performance increase did u get????
more valves, more air. mo powa
and way less torque at low rpm
less torque? so for a buggy I should just stick with a ported 2 valve and 3mm stroker? 63mm cylinder b block
RJ Wilson yes the 4 valve hesd flows really good around 9,000 rpm and thus has way less lowend torque compared stock 2 valve head with stock cam. What you want for a buggy is a motor with an a10 or 11 camshaft with a ported 2 valve head and somemore compression and of course a big stroker kit (which will increase your compression). for max torque you may want to advance the cam timming 1 tooth for more cylinder pressure, but you may need to run 93 octane or higher at that point. a lightweight flywheel would make it a killer setup. 26mm flatslide cvk carb. you willvhave a torque monster, thing will feel like a diesel i shit you not.
So a Taida 190cc short case with the 3mm stroker would be a good choice for a 600lb buggy? What cvt kit should i look at?
lmaooooooooo samee thing i was thing wtf is a 2 stroke muffler on there hahhahahahaa
why a 2 stroke exhaust?
+Jeremy Faber It was a Rookie mistake I made... Way back when I purchased the exhaust, It was sold on ebay for a GY6 150cc 4-stroke and I didn't know any better at the time... It quickly came off the scooter once a buddy told me I had a 2-stroke on there.. LOL ....Live and learn I suppose...
+Daniel Martin i read something that said that the 4stroke can benefit from the expansion chamber design as well
Yea they can burn their valves faster because the exhaust valve temp is way higher.
Jeremy Faber like all the 4 strokes ive ssen have like crazy mods like oil coolers and junk so i think itd run fine that way but yeah ur right
This muffler has a partitions inside, unlike 2-stroke exhausts. It just looks that all thought it of charged two-stroke.)) I would not go with this muffler, people will laugh.) What about the engine, it works nicely, I too want to put 155cc and 4-valve head. My scooter with GY6 was purchased recently. Already set 26mm carb CVK))
WHAT THE HELL? that exuast is for a 2 stroke engine ONLY. not for a 4 stroke gy6. fail dude
Just WHY would you put a two stroke exhaust on a four stroke?? Even if it supposedly only resembles a two stroke exhaust, just why would you? It can't be the best exhaust for a four stroke in any ways.
Did you read the comments? At the time i purchased this exhaust, it was advertised add a 4 stroke for a gy6 150cc... i don't work on 2 strokes and simply didn't know the difference... it was an error on my part.... but surprisingly, that exhaust did work good on a 4 stroke motor... in addition, the flashing and mounting bolts all lined up for a typical gy6 150cc... (the one in the video was a 4 valve head with dif mounting flanges
MrViking in the U.K. Where most scooterist ride 2 strokes but in recent years for whatever reason ( age I'll health etc ) had to move to 4 Autos from geard scooters they tend to not like the 4stroke sound so many have a pipe looking like this pipe that is internally 100% 4 stroke but externally looks old school 2 stroke and as with most sports looking 4 stroke pipes on scooters makes no power gains at all just for sound and looks but weighs approx half of standard
I don't want to waste so much money if the performance not worth it
sounds burly
He keeps saying how good it’s running, but it sounds like shit 🤣
