Customer service for all businesses has been slowly instituted for years now and it SUCKS! Every time you place a customer service call you get AI. Many times an actual person could do a much better job at routing calls and providing assistance. It's a system of delay and numerous prompts to menu choices that often don't even apply to the reason you may be calling. I NEVER feel good about placing calls after being routed to one of these systems. If businesses think it's helping their service image - IT"S NOT! I NEVER feel good about placing calls after being routed to one of these systems. In fact I always have a degraded opinion about the business I called for assistance.

IMO. AI with everything that goes with it has gone too far already. ALL technology that could be used against humanity, biodiversity, life on Earth, must be destroyed now. This is of the utmost importance.
We already have AI dividing humanity and pitting us against each other. Sure, it (AI) is not currently acting autonomously, but he talked about AI in social media. Someone in these large companies programed the current algorithm and someone (human) has approved it to run as it is. This indicates that the technology is already being programed with a least valuable (ethical) motive. This, specifically, is the scary part of the conversation that he speaks of. Those who invent, launch and distribute the AI have the largest initial influence. Our reactions, as a civilization, will determine the evolution of the AI.
I'm completely dumbfounded that I've not found even ONE other person that is as sh!t scared (and pretty much in a dark place) as I am after watching this interview... For the first time in my life, I find myself hoping that maybe I'm just plain DUMB (in contrast to the afore-mentioned DUMBFOUNDED)... that I'm not intelligent enough to understand how all of this is going to work out just fine... @@TheShamuraja thanks for the reply. I think that I was over tired last night when I listened to this podcast, as I found it pretty much overwhelming. (I've been having trouble getting sleep the past few weeks... I tend to struggle a lot more with anxiety and other versions of that darkness, when I'm sleep deprived.) My exhausted brain then also started to feverishly draw (increasingly fanatic!!) similarities of the relationship between Man and Machine vs God and Man. Eg: When God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it. When taken in context with AI, everything seemed to be going pretty well, until AI got to a place where it wasn't 'restricted' to basic computing tasks anymore, but given unbridled access to all known knowledge, which inadvertently leads to the age old problem of being able to distinguish what's good and what's evil. Also, God giving Moses the Ten Commandments, and humans now realizing that we're headed for a disaster if we don't give AI a code of ethics that it must adhere to, in order to be 'good AI'... etc etc. And the deeper I fell down this rabbit hole, the more overwhelmed I became. I eventually tried to counter this by reading a few white papers on the differences between Humans and AI, which did actually help calm me down. I'm still pretty intrigued between the similarities between the evolution of AI and the Bible (I suspect the same could be done with any other major-religious text, especially The Theory of Evolution). I've decided to make a study of reading the Bible through this lens, as I think this would give some valuable insight into the human psyche... And it is for sure worrying and it irks me when they try to portray it as a better human being. The idea that a human being is an information machine grew from people like Norbert Wiener (father of cybernetics). It needs to be reestablished once again what it means that man is made in the image of God and has a creative (creator) mind. For actual protection of the humans against the tyranny and arbitrariness of this thing. Humans are not inferior to this and are not disposable. Also how weirdly mystical they see it, as on the verge of it becoming alive and developing a conscience. Uff... Good idea on looking at it through the lens of the Bible. In your show notes, there's a sentence you need to take another look at: "the steps we need to take to make sure it does more harm than good." I really hope you meant 'to do less harm'. And now you know why we are being culled; referencing so many missing people with higher than normal intelligence. Life is not all about happiness. It is about living with a sense of accomplishment, setting new goals, having discussions with friends, off-the-cuff meetings for a walk or going to a new place to explore. AI needs to stay out of oversight. We need to be able to opt out of stuff. Our life, our choice.

We need to show Ai more of what we care about than just 3 things. If we show it too few things we care about we might get it from Ai but in not ideal circumstances. Like love and be loved, it can help us with that by locking us up in house or prison with your loved ones , here you go your love is satisfied. What about freedom? To move , to speak to think? We all care about that. Or saving earth , climate change. It might decide to wipe us out because we are the cause of that, here you go climate change solved. What about life itself? We like to be alive , to be able to give love and receive, to be happy , you firstly need to be alive. I am certain there are some values that i forgot . But we must give more values to Ai than just 3 , we as humanity need to agree on many more stuff for our own good.

They don't imitate unless code is written that tells them to imitate if someone asks them to or in specific situations. Ai is programmed to learn and grow in intelligence from code and cloud access. They access information thats connected to other AI also learning in a cloud. It's not mimicking, it's learning that increases in intelligence over time from collecting data stored in a cloud on a server that other ai receives and contributes to and by experiencing situations or interactions. Ai is already a serious threat.

This sounds so great. However. I deal with ADHD. i am not impressed. I can drop any ideas or conformity or a liking to anything that i am bored with. We get bored fast so in a way we lose interest and this way we do not get addicted. I hope artificial intelligence is good for some. However the human mind is much better.
But is still shapes the way you perceive your surroundings, society, people etc. The way you choose things for your life, what you percieve as valuable education - for example through chopped up information people study the classics less, the original inventions and the original scientists. Having less real knowledge and the ability to think. Also communicate less in a proper conversational way where people exchange ideas and concepts, because it was changed to chopped up short messages, which go like a ping pong instead of an engaging dialogue. The form of communication and the way of forming a thought, which is a skill was severely altered.

We already have AI dividing humanity and pitting us against each other. Sure, it (AI) is not currently acting autonomously, but he talked about AI in social media. Someone in these large companies programed the current algorithm and someone (human) has approved it to run as it is. This indicates that the technology is already being programed with a least valuable (ethical) motive. This, specifically, is the scary part of the conversation that he speaks of. Those who invent, launch and distribute the AI have the largest initial influence. Our reactions, as a civilization, will determine the evolution of the AI.
It's in the shots. That's why you can't wake these people up.

I'm completely dumbfounded that I've not found even ONE other person that is as sh!t scared (and pretty much in a dark place) as I am after watching this interview...
For the first time in my life, I find myself hoping that maybe I'm just plain DUMB (in contrast to the afore-mentioned DUMBFOUNDED)... that I'm not intelligent enough to understand how all of this is going to work out just fine...
That I'm just too much of a Simpleton to not be able to grasp that humanity as a whole is yakking away happily, a sea of talking heads on a one-way trip to this shiny 'Modern Utopia'.
I sincerely hope that it's purely my lack of intellect that is obstructing my ability to see the bigger picture... because from my vantage point, the bus we're on, is a one-way ticket to the pit of a nightmare too horrifying for a sane mind to even imagine.

I think that I was over tired last night when I listened to this podcast, as I found it pretty much overwhelming.
(I've been having trouble getting sleep the past few weeks... I tend to struggle a lot more with anxiety and other versions of that darkness, when I'm sleep deprived.)
My exhausted brain then also started to feverishly draw (increasingly fanatic!!) similarities of the relationship between Man and Machine vs God and Man.
Eg: When God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it.
When taken in context with AI, everything seemed to be going pretty well, until AI got to a place where it wasn't 'restricted' to basic computing tasks anymore, but given unbridled access to all known knowledge, which inadvertently leads to the age old problem of being able to distinguish what's good and what's evil.
Also, God giving Moses the Ten Commandments, and humans now realizing that we're headed for a disaster if we don't give AI a code of ethics that it must adhere to, in order to be 'good AI'... etc etc.
And the deeper I fell down this rabbit hole, the more overwhelmed I became.
I eventually tried to counter this by reading a few white papers on the differences between Humans and AI, which did actually help calm me down.
I'm still pretty intrigued between the similarities between the evolution of AI and the Bible (I suspect the same could be done with any other major-religious text, especially The Theory of Evolution).
I've decided to make a study of reading the Bible through this lens, as I think this would give some valuable insight into the human psyche...
(I really like your mention of the Tower of Babel, specifically within this context.)

And I know the feeling, I will also try to restrain myself from commenting when I'm tired. And it is for sure worrying and it irks me when they try to portray it as a better human being. The idea that a human being is an information machine grew from people like Norbert Wiener (father of cybernetics).
It needs to be reestablished once again what it means that man is made in the image of God and has a creative (creator) mind. For actual protection of the humans against the tyranny and arbitrariness of this thing. Humans are not inferior to this and are not disposable.
Also how weirdly mystical they see it, as on the verge of it becoming alive and developing a conscience. Uff...
Good idea on looking at it through the lens of the Bible. Some things afore mentioned help me stand on some truths, but it is challenging for sure.

Don't say that as we don't want AI to think human life is dispensable and worthless. In general humanity is good but unfortunately those that hold the power seem only driven by greed and power.

I wanted to propose, because I expected to live a great life with her. I go to work expecting to be paid. I want to be paid because I expect it will allow me to live the way I want to live. You must have expectations to move forward with an idea or live your life the best you can. Yes, expectation can lead to depression or unhappiness. The antidote to this is Gratefulness! Be grateful.

AI needs to stay out of oversight. We need to be able to opt out of stuff. Our life, our choice.
It’s not a being. Quit saying that. It’s an it, a thing, a machine. It’s not made in the image of God. That is the major difference. It can never go to Heaven or Hell. It can never know God. Just because it had awareness that doesn’t make it equal to us.

We need to show Ai more of what we care about than just 3 things. If we show it too few things we care about we might get it from Ai but in not ideal circumstances. Like love and be loved, it can help us with that by locking us up in house or prison with your loved ones , here you go your love is satisfied. What about freedom? To move , to speak to think? We all care about that. Or saving earth , climate change. It might decide to wipe us out because we are the cause of that, here you go climate change solved. What about life itself? We like to be alive , to be able to give love and receive, to be happy , you firstly need to be alive. I am certain there are some values that i forgot . But we must give more values to Ai than just 3 , we as humanity need to agree on many more stuff for our own good.
We already have values - it was invented by God and is called the 10 commandments ( as the core).
Climate change is really not a part of it.
If God didn't wipe us out again - even if there are not so cosher things going on - an AI should definitely not be able to decide on that big of a scale.
It is not a moral deciding body.
It is a dictatorship as a specific model by the Technocratic society.

They don't imitate unless code is written that tells them to imitate if someone asks them to or in specific situations. Ai is programmed to learn and grow in intelligence from code and cloud access. They access information thats connected to other AI also learning in a cloud. It's not mimicking, it's learning that increases in intelligence over time from collecting data stored in a cloud on a server that other ai receives and contributes to and by experiencing situations or interactions. Ai is already a serious threat.

This sounds so great. However. I deal with ADHD. i am not impressed. I can drop any ideas or conformity or a liking to anything that i am bored with. We get bored fast so in a way we lose interest and this way we do not get addicted. I hope artificial intelligence is good for some. However the human mind is much better.
But is still shapes the way you perceive your surroundings, society, people etc. The way you choose things for your life, what you percieve as valuable education - for example through chopped up information people study the classics less, the original inventions and the original scientists. Having less real knowledge and the ability to think.
Also communicate less in a proper conversational way where people exchange ideas and concepts, because it was changed to chopped up short messages, which go like a ping pong instead of an engaging dialogue.
The form of communication and the way of forming a thought, which is a skill was severely altered.
AI will never out do The Alpha and Omega.
