The most wonderful thing about Chinese cuisine is that even if you feel uncomfortable with the local food in one place, you will always find a cuisine that suits you in other places. China is very, very large, and many Chinese people cannot travel the entire country in their lifetime. This is a huge treasure trove, and we welcome you to explore it. By the way, I saw your video on a Chinese platform and it's not as unpopular as Hill said. In fact, the majority of the reviews I've seen are very positive. Your video is very authentic and provides many Chinese people with a foreigner's perspective on our lives. I wish you all a happy time.

The Chinese do not speak English because they have their own official language,
Chinese. This is a land that has never been colonized, nor has it been forcibly eroded by foreign cultures. No one forces them to speak English in their daily lives, except for the mandatory requirement in exams. However, Chinese people speak Chinese, which is not only a daily communication ability, but also a symbol of strength, a cultural heritage, a spirit of embodiment, a status manifestation.

@@xryanleeWhat are you on? Like you said they are visiting CHINA. If the Chinese people live in China and have no plan to travel abroad or do business with foreigners, why should they be able to speak English? If they can live a happy life only speaking Chinese, that’s their own choice. Further to your point, if I travel to Germany, I don’t expect every German person to speak English to me. Not mention, European countries are much smaller compared to China and have so many different languages. A lot of time, they’ll have to be able to speak other languages to make their daily life easier.

I think you have changed from the nervousness and anxiety when you first arrived in China to the pure joy of traveling. I think this is what everyone who really comes to China will feel. Regarding some comments from Chinese netizens, I think they are a bit excessive. After all, cultural backgrounds are different. Maybe what Chinese people often see or accept may not be what you can accept. For example, the "Chinese potatoes" you ate this time should actually be called sweet potato noodles. Chinese people can completely accept it, but foreigners may not be interested in this kind of texture. This is the so-called cultural shock, and this cultural shock is two-way for vloggers. While you feel the cultural shock, the locals who watch the vlog will also feel it.

I have met a young couple in Thailand recently. They were from US and flow to Singapore and they were traveling from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and then to Cambodia and Vietnam and before going back to US.
We have happened to have a casual friendly conversation and I have asked them since they are so near to China, why not go to China just for a few days to see China. I told them China is very interesting. But I was surprised of what they told me.
They said according to all their media reports in US and advice by their government and many other people. They were advice and told not to travel to China. Even their parents don't allow them to go to China. They were told China is not a safe country to travel. Very dirty, poor rundown infrastructures, poor transportation system, polluted, Chinese are very unfriendly to foreigners, homeless people are everywhere waiting to rob tourists are common even in broad daylight. Chances of been detained for no reason by the Communist government is very high. Because China is an authoritarian state and all foreign visitors are monitored by thousands of cameras everywhere and every minute where foreign visitors go. Foreign visitors from western countries can be detained for months or even years for no reason.
All these is what they know about China. The couple is like below 25 years of age and already so badly brainwashed by their government and controlled media. This is really sad.

It brings a rich meaty flavour and layered texture for the filling. BTW, donkey meat is more healthy than beef or pork cause it has a much lower content of fat.

In China, we mainly have four major cuisines (sometimes divided into eight major cuisines), and Sichuan Province's cuisine values spiciness. Shandong Province's cuisine values seasoning, and Beijing is deeply influenced by Shandong cuisine. Guangdong Province's cuisine values freshness (similar to the original taste of food). Huaiyang Cuisine values the chef's knife skills and changes in seasoning. For Chinese people, Beijing and Shanghai are not the first choices for enjoying delicious food, but here you can taste various dishes from all over the country, although they may not be authentic enough. The real food still needs to explore other places in China, such as Northeast China. If you go there, you will find that the taste there is very similar to that of Germans. Chinese dishes feature fat, particularly those sauted, which we love. Steamed Pork belly in pickled vegetable ( Kou Rou, 扣肉) is recommended while I saw its German version was sold in Berlin’s famous market around the very famous cathedral along with the heated red wine. Fat is not a monster!!

Some people actually think that animal fat is not bad for you but rather those seed oils because they go through high temperatures to derive the oils from seeds, corn, rapeseed etc. Incidentally rapeseed oil wasn't even used for food and contains some erucic acid which humans couldn't eat until they genetically modified rapeseed to have lower erucic acid for human consumption!

Guangzhou in Guangdong province is the undisputed foodie paradise in China. The south has a remarkable diversity of ingredients. Combine those with very meticulous way of preparation, you get a wide spectrum of food. The most notable will be "yum cha" which is now a worldwide phenomenon. Spicy food lovers have to go to Hunan, Jiangxi, Sichuan. Germans have to visit Qingdao for a bit of home feeling and beer.

The box is not filled with potatoes. If I'm not mistaken, it's jelly. In Sichuan, we call it "hot jelly", which is like jelly. It is made from sweet potatoes, with soy sauce, red oil, chili, Sichuan pepper (the stuff that makes your mouth numb), salt, onions and other condiments. It is a very popular snack.

If you want to eat really good food in China, ask those men in their 30s and 40s, they will give you the right answer. China is very big, so every place has its own characteristics. Try to eat more local food instead of eating at snack streets, because snack street food is everywhere in China. When you find local food and restaurants, believe me, you will understand why Chinese people are so obsessed with eating. I guarantee that the variety and deliciousness of Chinese food are the best in the world.

That is not FAT........... 焖子 (Mènzi) is a traditional Chinese snack, particularly popular in the Shandong province. It is made primarily from sweet potato flour, giving it a unique, jelly-like texture. The preparation involves steaming the flour mixture until it solidifies, after which it is cut into pieces and usually stir-fried with garlic, soy sauce, and sometimes chili. The resulting dish is savory, slightly chewy, and often enjoyed as street food or a side dish.

肉焖子 (Ròu Mènzi) is a variation of the traditional Chinese snack 焖子 (Mènzi), incorporating meat into the dish. This version typically combines the jelly-like texture of the original 焖子 with pieces of meat, such as pork or beef, adding a savory and richer flavor profile.

I am Chinese and a heavy user of bilibili. What he saw was that there were friendly comments and bad comments,I also saw it and refuted them. I know the real reason: your first video just came to China, and there were some things that I didn’t understand. For example, it said there were many surveillance cameras. Like, I thought it was okay when you first arrived, but a blogger made a biased title, and a few people didn't even see what you were really talking about. You know when most voices are welcoming foreign tourists. Sometimes, in order to get views, some bad guys will say the opposite and attract attention. Most Chinese people welcome you, and I think you feel it too. So I want to tell you, don't mind those few people who have their brains kicked by donkeys. People who are really interested will know how open-minded you two are, respect our culture, like Chinese people and food, and have a good trip.
