I respectfully submit that this is a video that demonstrates how NOT to install the Ring Flood camera under a soffit. The installer would have been better prepared to make this video by either having read the mounting instructions or viewing a Ring authored installation video in advance. I recommend that DIYers consider this advice prior to installing.
can you do that ? ive seen alteration vids that have discouraged me thus far .... i have this product and a porch ceiling box ....can i just manually turn it around without cutting the ball joint thing?
Great video…especially that the install includes connecting to a junction box. Safety first! Many people are installing these DIY lights without junction boxes (leaving exposed) wiring behind walls or PVC covers on vinyl siding. No bueno!
Sorry. This is exactly why I would not pay someone to install something like this. First, the fixture is is mounted under an eave which requires the whole fixture to be inverted (it’s actually shipped this orientation). Second the fixture is very loose, you can spin the whole unit around. The central screw that mounts the silver mounting bracket to the ring adapter bracket needs to be much tighter you commented in the video about “not over tightening i which is fine, but it should at least be snugged. Someone is going to need to fix this. Maybe you…?
ive seen vids with people cutting and altering for ceiling mount...i have the product but i am discouraged by said vids....can you simply turn it without alteration ?

The retention clip holds the camera to the hook on the mounting bracket while you make your connections so that you both hands are free

for ceiling mount you spin the base around 180 degrees from the way you had it.
