I always got vibes of Carl Carlton's "She's a Bad Mamma Jamma" on the synth bassline of this song.
They used a lot of samples. If U Can't Dance obviously sampled Humpty Dance. Mama sounds incredibly similar to the Human League song Only Human.

The music video was inspired by Pulp Fiction where Mia Wallace (Uma Thurman) describes a pilot tv show she was in called fox force five. Tarantino already had the idea for Kill Bill whilst writing the Pulp Fiction script and that pilot tv show was the rough early outline he had for Kill Bill so great read there Jack and it certainly has that Charlies Angels feel to it also

Spice Girls been following me around everywhere tgese past couple of days. I was just jamming/dancing to "Spice Up Yoyr Life" while driving down the highway yesterday, someone posted the end of "Spice World" when they're performing the song on fb today, I ended up trying to explain someone Geri/Ginger Spice & Mel B/Scary Spice's whole "relationship" over the years to someone earlier and went down a rabbit hole earlier, told someone about Geri & Mel B both wrote in their seperate biograpgies about the night after they filmed the music video you're reacting to when Geri/Mel B snuck & drove back out to the desert and ran through the desert naked, now you upload this. At this point I might mess around and cop them no doubt expensive ass Spice Girls reunion tickets since Victoria Beckham/Posh Spice announced they're doing their 30th anniversary reunion (I think it might be the first renuion with all 5 of them since Geri left back in the day since Victoria hadn't done the recent tour) #SpiceUpYourLife 😂🤣😂...
The video takes a lot of inspiration from the 60s movie Faster Pussycat Kill Kill. Tarantino is a fan of that movie and it’s director, so maybe that’s why you also get Kill Bill vibes.

before Little Mix they were the biggest girl group ever, they made it big from 1996 onwards with their debut single Wannabe, before there were any of these xfactor and American idol shows. Spot on late’ish 90’s in 1996 this was released. I dunno if you have heard of British Footballer David Beckhan? He played for L.A Galaxy for abit. Anyway the girl in all black pvc suit is Victoria Be kham his wife aka Posh spice.

Not a big fan of Spice Girls, but during my childhood (the 90s), they were EVERYWHERE, and I do have some fond memories of their music, during school discos especially (God i feel so old! lol). Just to mention, "Posh Spice" (victoria) CANNOT sing live, nor can she dance, so she was bloody lucky to have been chosen for that group (and to marry David Beckham). It's crazy to think someone with no musical talent can sell MILLIONS of albums (mostly to annoying little girls), and then become SUPER rich through it. Life is INSANE when you think about it.
Dude you're stupid! Victoria is the most qualified dancer out of the five. She actually has a license to teach. As for her vocals, she can sing but not as strong as the other three (Mel C, Mel B, and Emma) but better than Geri. The difference between Geri and Victoria are the former has character in her voice while the latter has a typical soft soprano but her lower register is round and thick.
Also Victoria is already rich before marrying David Beckham.

The Spice Girls' catalog is limited because they only released three albums. Unfortunately, they were marketed extremely late to the US, so when the US was finally vibing to their first album, they stopped promoting it in favor of their "biographical" movie and second album which dropped at the same time.
They weren't marketed extremely late to the US. They came out here in the UK in the summer of 1996 and then went for the US in January 1997. The US were only 3 singles behind us.

My point was they didn't release "Mama" or "Who Do You Think You Are" in the US in favor of joining the rest of the world with the release of "Spice Up Your Life." I remember "2 Become 1" was a summer jam in 1997, when it was a 1996 Autumn jam elsewhere.
@@piper998877 they didn't release those singles in the USA?! Wow, I honestly never knew that. I guess 3 singles is a lot now that I think about it, as they had truly cemented themselves into the public psyche here by their third single 2 Become 1. And on top of that it became their first Christmas single (which is a big deal for artists in the UK.) They left the United States for last after conquering us here in the UK, Europe and Japan. They must be so proud of what they achieved. Their manager had already sown the seeds in the USA behind the scenes though, the deal with Pepsi was already in the works when only Wannabe had been released in 1996! Pepsi took a gamble on this relatively unkown band and ended up with 1997 being one of their most financially lucrative years ever!
