Great to have you--and Silo--back! I love, love this show. No wonder Rebecca Ferguson left the Mission Impossible movies in order to continue this show. First off, it's incredible that Rebecca did so much of this episode WITHOUT any dialogue. It was like she was a silent movie star--just awesome work! Now to this first episode. I've seen people speculate that someone was in the background, watching Juliette when she was ripping off her hazmat suit inside the new silo. I'm going to re-watch that scene, but apparently there's an "indication" that someone is there, in the background. That would line-up with the theory that the rope was cut when Juliette was trying to swing her way over to the other side. If so, it will open up more back-story for the new silo, and also explain why the man behind the door is afraid of visitors--he may still be a target and under attack. Speaking of the man behind the door, I really like the idea that there were TWO little boys in the new silo during the time of the rebellion that led to the people going outside and dying from exposure to whatever is killing people. I remember the Sheriff telling another adult to take the boy who delivered the message from Engineering that the flooding will begin in 15 minutes, to "safety." Did THAT boy survive and is now locked behind the door? Is the child skeleton we see outside, being clutched by an adult, that of a second child--there were hordes of people going up the stairs to the outside, some of who were probably children. Also, is the locked room the new silo's equivalent of Bernard's Secret Room? Are there Secret Rooms in each silo, with only one/two people having access? Can these folks talk to each other? Why are THEY connected, and what major secrets are they withholding from their populations? Although this is just the first episode (yes! we should have had TWO eps drop to start off the season), my guess is that Juliette will find a way to connect/or go back to her original silo. Probably through an underwater door/corridor. And, now armed with the knowledge that going outside DOES kill, Juliette may team up with Bernard to put down the rebellion of her friends, who believe that since they didn't see Juliette die, that they too can go outside and survive. It would be a major twist if Juilette & Bernard are on the same side. I suspect there are many, many more secrets and challenges besides what Bernard is trying to do within his silo. AND, "Silo" has been renewed for S3, which is about to begin filming. So, we have just scratched the surface of this series/story. I can't hardly wait.
Juliette & Bernard teaming up to thwart a “let’s go outside” party would be wild… I think ultimately there will be a revolution. But not for going outside per se. More of a deconstruction of the caste system / manipulation tactics of Bernard’s silo 🤔
I’m dying to see the original Silo inhabitants’ reaction from Juliette’s successful walk over the bluff. They must be going bonkers / questioning everything. -> they’ve never seen anyone make it that far
Glad to see that you guys are covering this! I’ve been enjoying your From coverage, and this is another show I think should be getting way more attention!
I never thought this show would be arount for a second episode. And especially during the writers strike. I couldnt wait so i read the books. Have to say i am soooo excited to see how they adapt the story to the screen.
I think the IT bosses are definitely able to contact each other or at least read each others silo updates on some kind of IT boss notice/message board. Tim Robbins knows about the other silo mass exit and mass death for sure. Last series his face looked super surprised when Juliette mentioned George’s tunnel hatch - so he either didn’t know about it or he was shocked that she did.
I’m pretty sure that all the silos are connected to each other via tunnels or something similar, so you can travel between them without going outside. It makes a lot of sense, and whoever built it would have definitely included that for emergency situations. It’s probably somewhere on the lower levels, where Juliet was afraid to reach the water in the original silo. I believe she will find a way to go back home without going outside
I believe it was pretty clear in the first season that Juliet's mother unalived herself after her younger brother died. It was part of why Juliet left her father and wanted to live with Walker. She thought her father could have/should have done something for both the brother and mother.
So the camera angles were deliberate to demonstrate that someone was watching her. either that was from the camera the guy had in his room or someone else is there. Notice the fan was on. How the hell is a fan on without any power or generator? If the generator was destroyed in the rebellion?
My theory was that outside was fine and the poison was the blast of white chemicals before they left the silo, just took a while to work its way into the suits with cheap tape. I wanted her to take her mask off so we could find out. Now after seeing all those dead bodies there goes that theory.
6:50 I’m sure her rope was cut when she was trying to swing across the broken bridge area. Juliet even looks at the frayed rope and is confused. If it were me, I’d have known for sure I wasn’t alone at that point. I think the guy behind the vault door is using vents and shafts to move around the silo in secret.
This was a great episode. I will not spoil anything; however, I have read all 3 books and if they follow the second book (Shift) the second half of this season we will learn a lot about the silos, who built them, why, and what happened to the world outside. I thought Season 1 was great and what they did to change it from the books was great for those of us who have read the books, but Shift is probably the most packed of the books and reveals soooo much. If they cover most of what was in Shift, you guys are going to be amazed. Keep up the great videos for both Silo and From, I love both shows.
From someone that has worked around ropes that size, if it wasn't cut it wasn't realistic. That rope could roll back and forth on the concrete for a long time before fraying and breaking. I thought it was a slow first episode. I also didn't like how the "engineer" didnt check her ladder bridge or over engineer it before walking over it.
Could she even have entered another silo? Do those outer doors open from outside? I think she picked one nearby because she must've realized she had little air. Pretty lucky that it was open. The liquid wasn't iodine. That's darker and isn't usually kept in large thermoses. She got those thermoses from the cafeteria so probably just coffee, tea or soup. It was a bi 5 slow but I'm intrigued.
Yes because of the From Leaks Ive been avoiding anything about From until I see this episode. So we got Silo to watch, and Dune coming too but Ive heard disappointing things about Dune Prophesy already.
so glad you guys are covering this! Apple+ has mastered its thriller/horror/sci-fi genre to a T. that or the goofy comedy genre is what they are good at
@@sceneinvaders FYI, I really enjoyed "Cross"--that dropped all of its episodes the same day last week. And, tonight I'm going to begin watching "The Day of the Jackal" that dropped its first 5 episodes last week & the remainder will come over the next 5 weeks. Also, I can't wait for "Sugar" & "Dark Matter" to return!
Thanks. I didn't want to re-watch all of last season just to confirm the silo numbers. I have a feeling it will be important to know "which" silo is which.
10:11I believe they show the little boy leaving the silo with the others. I think they instructed the boy to go somewhere safe during the attack, and after they won, he was back with his family.
I wonder if that dude who is locked inside the new silo is the IT boss and in contact with Bernard. Also I don’t think that it has been decades since everyone died. This guy is not very old, I think he was not part of the rebellion and decided not to leave but stayed in his locked room to stay alive.
Or, he (like Juliette) could be from a different Silo. And found Silo 17 open, and "claimed" it as his own. My thinking is that the rebellion in Silo 17 (the new silo) happened many years ago. The only "time marks" we have to the rebellion are th flag and the decomposed human bodies. The flag suggest 10-20 years; whereas the bodies could be at 50 to 100 years, like ancient digs.
It's not the little boy from the beginning with the note. I went back and rewatched after my husband suggested that and they only sent the boy off before they attacked the others. When they went outside it was later on and the boy was front and center with his parents. Someone else also took a still of the bodies and you can see the smaller boy's body being held by the mother not far from the father with the flag.
That's my original thought. But, I'd like it if the man behind the door somehow turned out to be the little boy with the message. Given the time lapse, the man behind the door can NOT be one of the adults who participated in the rebellion.
I think the man behind the door is Russell. The engineer that the sheriff mentioned at the beginning when talking to his wife. That was also the title of the episode.... Definitely think there is somebody else running free in that silo. Perhaps that is the young boy.
I thought Russell was the guy who was thrown off the bidge--and the Sheriff was telling the woman who was giving him medical treatment after the battle, his hand slipped. So, I don't think the guy behind the door is Russell. Also, there's a time lapse; and with the decomposition of the bodies outside, my guess is that at least 20 years have passed--possibly MORE if this rebellion took place the same time as the rebellion in Silo 18...which was 100 years ago. That would make it impossible for the man behind the door to be ANYONE from the rebellion; and raises the question "Is HE from a different silo" and has claimed Silo 17 as his new home.
The clue to the rope is how high up it was “cut”. They don’t clue in that it was cut, but the point it was rubbing was much farther down and it would have been a frayed end, not the two clean even ends.
What about that door George was telling juliette about on season 1, that might be a way to get to the other silos underground, without having to go outside
So I think since all the silos look to be exactly the same there must be some intersilo connection and communication . I want to know what city that is in the background at the end of season 1

I agree. George’s door at the bottom of the silo is what connects to the adjoining tunnels I reckon.
Oh man they needed to drop 2 episodes on us this week. Stoked to see how it all unfolds
9:41 Would that have been the first time she’s heard that kind of music? Records would be relics and therefore outlawed.
True!

Yeah, it seems like they heavily implied that it was cut.

"Silo 1" is Silo 18, as shown by the computers last season.

i thought it was the little boy as well.
Juliette could’ve walked in front of other silo video cameras to show the residents she was outside.
But she doesn't know if they're friendly or not. She must be suspicious of everything & everyone. She's definitely outside of her comfort zone.

I think she chose the silo for convenient narrative purposes. an empty silo she can dig up anything she wants without having to deal with judicial
Why do you think there was an old video showing birds and a beautiful outside ?
That's just gotta be one of the "relics". Things people have stashed of the old world
Am I buggin or did the season finale of episode 1 display hundreds of Silo's ...and season 2 it makes it seem like there is only 2.
@@Dreamevil2009 they def showed a tonnnn of them

This episode was intense. It also reminds us that Juliette knows how to build and fix shit. It's her day job.
How did she do all that, on an empty stomach 😂.. she is definitely Strong or unrealistic
She brought snacks. 😀
Lucas has been sent to the mines. I wonder if he’ll find a way to drain the water at the bottom of the silo or find a tunnel to another silo
Are you guys reviewing THE AGENCY?

Probably Atlanta Georgia, based on how they had that Georgia tourism kids book in season 1
I don’t think the rope was cut. It definitely was from the friction of her swinging back and forth, trying to cross the bridge.
The guy behind the door wasn’t that much surprised seeing her, so maybe there’s someone else running around)
