Amundsen’s attempt to kill Knox by throwing the winch down after him backfired when the engineers used it to their “mechanical advantage” to pull down the barricade! 7/10 triple Ps (prohibited pulley payback)
This was my favorite episode thus far. There was a lot of deeper character development for several of the major players. Camille Sims: Great face off with Bernard! She kept on topic and didn't get rattled by his questions. Her answers were all clothed in how all her actions and responses were by the book, "And we all have to obey the law." Gotcha. Secondly she is the one who decided where to set up point of confrontation with the rebels. Did she purpose to give them the farm as a way to hinder Bernard's plan; prolonging the pitched battle he expected to come. Perhaps it was also a way to get her sidelined husband back in the game. Admunson is not looking very good. And who gave him the OK to make that spot the new boundary, Camille. I'm beginning to like this character. Every move she has made so far has benefitted the Mechanicals. Bernard and Billings, two guys trying so hard to live by the letter of the law, are finding it very difficult to navigate the turbulent waters they're in. Both have had to make decisions and choices way outside their comfort zones,.Bernard is continuing to act like an animal being backed into a corner. Meanwhile Billings is being overwhelmed with alarming insights into just how deceitful life in the silo actually is. I agree with Catfish, next week is the Solo/ Juliette show. I do hope we get the deciphered message from Salvador Quinn, but the writers will probably string us along for another week.
Loved this episode! Solid 9/10 double Ks - Klever Knoxx. The tension was handled really well and there's finally some story and character progress happening in the silo. I'm really interested in what Camille is upto and Lucas becoming Bernard's shadow is unexpected. Knoxx was very clever with his barricade plan, proud of him! He's a very smart man.
I think Bernard is using Lucas to solve the code because he's not meant to have the red relic, it's why he destroyed it in the first place. But because of Judge Meadows he needs to know the information even if it breaks the rules and Lucas' life was already forfeit so he's the perfect person to solve it. Bernard is also pulling a double shift being the Mayor and Head of IT. So his attention is split. Killing the previous mayor is probably where it went wrong for Bernard. It probably would've been smart to have the Mayor in on the shadowy stuff to avoid things like this.
Hey Bubba, put me in the camp of "pretty please, with sugar on top, do Severance." To hear my fave podcasters discuss one of my fave shows would be the best. And you could easily adapt it from your other formats. Greef's Beef = who's getting sent to the breakroom, Good Greef = who deserves a wellness session, Judicial debate = meeting with the Board, etc. I can already hear you guys in my head, lol
@DoublePMedia Severance is better because at least you can be an outtie most of the time. Silo is worse because the forgetting drug causes a permanent effect
Bubba needs to keep his bloodlust in check :) Amundsen made the right call by retreating. I love that the Silo residents, even the raiders don't want to fight unless they have to. I'm wondering when they will introduce the other elements to the story? It has to be soon because there are events happening alongside the events we are watching now.
My guess is Sims was a monitor and showed enough skill to be promoted. With Judicial you have the Raiders and Monitors. So one is intelligence and the other is the ground forces and while they are two separate jobs they are in the same field leading to both being able to be promoted to the head of the raiders. Perhaps that's why Sim's replacement isn't as good as him because he was a raider.
I was so disappointed that there wasn’t a real battle. On the other hand, I think I actually prefer how Lucas became Bernard’s shadow in the show over the book, it seems like he actually had to earn it rather than being in the right place at the right time.
@ I’m gonna say yes, but I think Juliette is going to end up saving him rather than how it plays out in the book and Bernard might be dealt with in a different way
most of my theories are wrong up till now. I really saw Lucas going back to the mines and dig himself to 17 :) I enjoyed this episode. most storylines made nice progress. I would have loved a scene with Solo growing mushrooms and extracting antibiotics out of them, though
So, Knoxx & Shirley snogging . . . my immediate thought is one of them's dead next week (cos Sod's Law). I was a bit disappointed by the "fighting" on the staircase. I felt it was both anticlimactic and kinda repetitive of what we've been seeing for weeks. I had a bit of a "get on with it" vibe, wanting to get back to the Juliette plot. (which I'm still waiting for!) So Solo was really a medic, cos as we learned in the Down Deep, only doctors have access to anything stronger than paracetamol... Of course, he could have scavenged pretty much anything from anywhere (that wasn't flooded). So maybe his antibiotics were made from 200 year old Vicodin + mouldy apples + bread sauce..... And so for this weeks Mythical Mines Moment, I think the answer to Solo's pump out problem is to send Lukas back down the mines (I was right about Bernard using the cypher as an excuse to make him Shadow) where he can chip away the last inch of rock between 18 and 17. All the water will rush out of 17 into 18, completely flooding the Down Deep, fulfilling my prediction in line 1, and solving both Bernard's and Solo's problems. But then we also lose power and probably killed silo 18. Ho hum! I should stop overthinking, lol.
This season should end with Bernard going out to clean and Juliette coming back to her own silo. But this speed is going to end with Juliette and Solo meeting the kids and the war ends with Bernard being jailed, setting up S3 with the 2 silos coming together.
I think it makes sense that Simms wasnt raider because if i am not mistaken his father was on same position so he probably was his shadow from early age instead of being just raider.
Well, I got Lucas/Bernard link pretty much right on. Little thrown off by Solo’s story as this different than the book. I did notice that the sheriff’s son when he delivered the message to his dad, his mother mentioned “Timmy” talked him into it. That’s not Jimmy, but man that’s close… just something to think about. I agree with catfish there seems to be a pattern, next episode may focus on solo 17, then next will be back to 18… hopefully seeing a Knox Sims battle! 😂 I am for team Severance! Got er done! 😆
I give this episode of Silo a 6.8 but this podcast episode is a 10/10. It has great moments like Bernard taking Lukas as shadow and Dr Nichols and Walker talking, or Jules waking up. But I don't enjoy an entire episode being about moving a barricade 10 floors up. I freaking like Hank I'm team Hank all the way from this episode on. I think a few reasons why Bernard doesn't provide enough knowledge for Lukas to accomplish the cracking. 1) He hopes an unbiased new pair of eyes in this case Luka's come up with a clean approach on the cracking problem. 2) He's handling this as a need to know situation or better said a earn to know situation where Bernard just confirms or denies the hypothesis of Lukas. 3) He doesn't have that much time or cares that much in this particular moment. More importantly my dumb question is How did Solo make his own antibiotics????
8/10 It’s clear that the design of this 50-silo bunker system is highly illogical. The bunkers are neither independent nor strategically placed. They lack natural camouflage, geological stability (like granite or limestone foundations), access to freshwater, or alternative energy sources. Additionally, the location is neither remote nor isolated (e.g., deserts or islands). Worse, the bunkers are clustered together rather than distributed across different sites, which compromises redundancy and safety. The most efficient approach would be to construct bunkers in mountainous or geologically stable areas near freshwater sources, supplemented with autonomous energy and food production systems. At the end of the day, one must question the value of all this secrecy. Instead, it might be more effective to simply inform people about their situation, location, and the reality of their circumstances. They could be made to understand that life outside will likely be impossible for a certain period-perhaps 200 years-and only then might the outside world become habitable again. With this understanding, all the secrecy would become unnecessary. Please tell me I am wrong 😢😅?!?
I think we will get part of book two shift before the end of this season. maybe just a radio message or even a flashback or Lukas discovers (redacted) or maybe we just see an awakening?
I gave this a Incomplete. A bad, messy 2.5 ton bag of suspension of disbelief. I thought it was good with Benard/Lucas. 2 time around I found a lot of plot holes and idk, bad editing/writing/etc. You's pointed out a dozen yourself. 3 tops 1's...what happened 2 shutting off power from mechanical? If they embargo food-shut power off. Its that simple. 2nd the number of people in power positions. So if doctor and his shadow are killed or die, that's it? For a silo10,000 ppl. 3rd. Why is Benard alive? He's a1 man show it seems. They give impression everyone is against him. All you need is 2-3guys, maybe Sims it can't be that simple. Too many unbelievable, non reality assumptions. That don't make sense. Idk if there trying squzze things In or just rushing, now. It reminds of GOT'S such a wasted potential. Thanks guys Jacob, Have a good Christmas.
The Down Deep has a farm now! What now? What do you think of episode 6?
Amundsen’s attempt to kill Knox by throwing the winch down after him backfired when the engineers used it to their “mechanical advantage” to pull down the barricade! 7/10 triple Ps (prohibited pulley payback)
Best silo breakdown podcast hands down!
Thanks! We're living in the Silo with you!
I’ve tried watching others and they are boring or cringe. This is the only one that is fun.
This was my favorite episode thus far. There was a lot of deeper character development for several of the major players.

Bernard and Billings are two great characters... who might kill each other :)

Camille is either going to hand her husband the position of Mayor, or she'll be mining soon :)

Smart thought - Bernard has had too much on his plate (aka the food meant for the down deep :) )
Bernard is the guy with all the power, I imagine he was always telling the mayor what to do. Everyone works for Bernard.
i'm a double L - Lukas Lackey
also yess on the severance podcast!!!! thank you catfish for pushing my agenda further 👊
The true Double L!

what's better: Lumon's forget-work/home brain damage or Silo 18's forget-everything drug?
@DoublePMedia Severance is better because at least you can be an outtie most of the time. Silo is worse because the forgetting drug causes a permanent effect

smart point - sitting and watching TV is a Sims skill :)
Lucas becoming bernard's shadow just to solve a code is surprising.
Yep. Suppose he could NEVER trust Sims to solve a code :)
Bernard is looking for someone to confide in. He's starting to lose it trying to take it all on himself.
“Technical difficulties” = bad hair day. 😂
that would be every day :) We need Shirley and Knox's stylist!
I was so disappointed that there wasn’t a real battle. On the other hand, I think I actually prefer how Lucas became Bernard’s shadow in the show over the book, it seems like he actually had to earn it rather than being in the right place at the right time.
Will Lukas be able to keep his life after he cracks the code? ... in the show
@ I’m gonna say yes, but I think Juliette is going to end up saving him rather than how it plays out in the book and Bernard might be dealt with in a different way
most of my theories are wrong up till now. I really saw Lucas going back to the mines and dig himself to 17 :)

Better Silo's mushrooms than the mushrooms Bernard gave to Judge Meadows :)

LOL - Walker learns to swim at 70!

It's moving slow, yet to reach certain end points might cause the show to rush past nuance
I think it makes sense that Simms wasnt raider because if i am not mistaken his father was on same position so he probably was his shadow from early age instead of being just raider.
Therefore: Sims gets a job like his dad as a watcher - he gets promoted to leader of the Judicial Raiders, then meets Camille, love at first sight :)
Well, I got Lucas/Bernard link pretty much right on. Little thrown off by Solo’s story as this different than the book.

Silo 17 will get lots of time in the next episode, yet I think we'll still spend plenty of time in Silo 18 -- think a book scene might play out
I give this episode of Silo a 6.8 but this podcast episode is a 10/10.

100% - The Founders didn't wan the silo residents to know ANYTHING, and they succeeded.
I think we will get part of book two shift before the end of this season. maybe just a radio message or even a flashback or Lukas discovers (redacted) or maybe we just see an awakening?
Deep down in places Walker doesn’t talk about at parties..she needs Juliette on that hill
Where are your faces? What has Bernard done?
He sent us to the mines!
I gave this a Incomplete. A bad, messy 2.5 ton bag of suspension of disbelief. LOL - Santa will need to bring us all a suspension of disbelief! :)
Knox and Shirley will have a baby with Dr. Nichols' help!
Is that Knox taking the L?
The baby food dropping down the garbage chute is gonna be gross!
first
Great job!
