@@bricago2302 I have a small in size 256g samsung in mine. It might be overkill because it’s nowhere near full, but it’s black and blends in pretty well. You could start smaller and then transfer if you’re starting to fill up.
My one fear is that I buy a bunch of games I want and then they release the virtual console on Switch without carrying over purchases. I always said that I thought Nintendo will wait until the WiiU eShop closes to even announce the Virtual Console on Switch or Switch 2. The reason is that so they can get all the people buying up these games on WiiU and 3DS thinking they won't be available and then they'll want to buy them again when they become available on Switch, because you know Nintendo isn't the kind of company to let you carry your purchases across consoles like that. Nintendo already does this with the 3DS/Wii/WiiU eshops. There were a lot of games available on all three but if you wanted them on all three systems buying the game on one wasn't good enough, you had to buy on all three. Bought a bunch of virtual console games on my 3DS that I would love to play big screen, but I need to buy them again to do so. So, since Nintendo seems to love to make us pay multiple times for the same games, I do not think it's a stretch to think they will announce these shop closures so everyone panic buys these games and then only after they close announce the virtual console on Switch. Then again, maybe not, maybe they still with the subscription model so you can play but never own these games again, which I absolutely hate. Subscription services are the devil!
Your games that you bought crossing to a different system will never ever be a thing with nintendo. If they put a link between worlds on switch, we'll you can buy ut there. But it has nothing to do with your 3ds,and if you wanna play it there,go ahead. Nintemdo will never do it. If they haven't yet,it ain't happening now
Another game to pick up is super Mario advanced 4 super Mario bros 3. It’s 7.99 and it comes with all the additional ereader card levels. I think it about 30 additional levels that will be hard to come by(legally) when the shop closes.
It’s like Nintendo doesn’t like the fact that you can BUY and play all of their generations of great games in one place on the Wii U. Moving to a subscription system on Switch seems to be their primary focus now. Glad I seen this vid as I was unaware adding $ to Wii U eShop was already upon us. So I fired up all 4 of my Wii U consoles and loaded them up with $$$.
This has already been a thing in Europe for like 2 years, I don't think that was mentioned in the video. But I don't doubt the clock is ticking on the 3DS and Wii U eshops for downloads.
@@Link__TV well the article I read said "Nintendo was going to stop credit card support as of January 22 2022 (Japan)", so I am assuming we are still able to use a credit cards for eShop purchases here in the States. I do remember Nintendo closing the eShop in like the Caribbean in like 2020 but I don't remember. Was that what you are talking about with the whole Europe situation?
@@angelozicarelli541 I agree, I believe the recent announcement was just for Japan re credit card payments on the WiiU and 3DS systems ending. In Europe for around 2 years now we've had to load funds by credit card to those eshops via a web site. Maybe also credit carries over from Switch if NNID and Nintendo account are linked. No announcement that the eshops were actually closing, yet. But I can see it won't be long before Nintendo will announce that, so encouraging folk to make sure they grab the games they what while they still can is a good thing.
Thanks for the heads up! Luckily I enjoy niche games, I bought Devil's Third physically on release day. I too recommend getting it digitally, it's so fun and cooky.
Thanks for putting another one of these out!! The time is now!! So many great games on the Wii U, and yes it will be the next Saturn style console! I need to get on top of this myself. Cheers dudes! Long live the Wii U!
I get that Nintendo is sweeping the WII-U under the rug because it didnt sell well but come on the Wii e-shop lasted 7 to 8 years and they are ending it that quickly what about the people who dont want the switch and bought a WII-U instead......
So if the shops close does that mean you cannot re-download games you own digitally and what about things like patches, updates, and apps like Pokémon Bank?
Atlus has been my favorite developer for over a decade and some of the greatest games they ever made were on the 3DS, I highly recommend if you're reading this to play them all.
The video was very informative. Reminds me that I need to get like Earthbound Beginngs and Super Star Saga. Maybe Wario Land Shake it. Not sure if I can afford right now but I’ll have to keep it in mind.
I have a question. As of now it is jan. 23rd as of writing this so the credit card support is now removed. So do gift cards still work? I want to get the old pokemom games on 3ds and gift cards are an easier method for me to use as funds on my game consoles since I don't have a credit card. I mean, they didn't say gift cards also count as of the removal of the feature.
This video has quite a bit of misinformation. Paying with Credit cards was only removed in *japan.* Not anywhere else. If you live in America, you can still add funds to the eshop via a credit card. You can also obviously still add funds with eshop gift cards as well, even in Japan. Honestly, I feel like gaming off the grid jumped the gun a bit. There’s no rush, you can still add funds and buy eshop games for now.
Here’s a heads up: If you use a SSD external hard drive as your backup, you don’t need to power those with y-cables or via AC power. One USB cord and you are good.
@@EDFCentral Yeah, you CAN do that with traditional mechanical externals but let me warn you, sometimes that can go bad during a read/write period and then your data can be compromised. Has happened to me.
I can’t get tired of the rock dropping. I got my XL DS at Fries Electronics in 2017. Love the hand held. The switch online play and apps are odd vs the wii or Wii U
When I heard about the WiiU and 3DS shops closing, I flocked to those shops and bought up every single game I had even mild interest in. I have only a little bit of storage left on both consoles, but I don't care. I have the games on there, and now all I got to do is make sure my WiiU and 3DS don't break.
jeez, for a moment there I thought you guys were saying the shop was closing the 22nd of THIS month. I almost freaked out. Keep in mind folks, if you ever plan to hack your Wii U, you MUST buy a e-shop DS game. Yes, there are other ways but having messed with all the hacking options, you want to use the DS exploit.
My sister is shipping me my Wii U, and I plan on jealbreaking it. She's sending it on Monday and I was worried I wouldn't t be able to buy the DS game, so I'm still good right?
The ps3 store is like this now too. You can't buy games using a credit/debit card anymore. You have to add Playstation money either the website or with one of those gift cards. Kinda ridiculous as that also has a great library of classic ps1 and ps2 games. But sounds like the Wii U is following in the same manner. That Fatal Frame game btw has also been released on the Xbox as well. Cheers fellas.
Very good video. The TG16, Wii, DS games alone are worth checking the store out. I always toot about Dungeons & Dragons Chronicles of Mystara. Don’t want to miss that beat ‘em up. Pokémon is so valuable, the 3ds shop made it possible to play those games with my nephew this past summer.
Honestly, the fact that the Wii U eShop lasted THIS long is an impressive feat in itself. Especially since it still has its Virtual Console offerings, say what you will about the emulation quality, but unless you got other options, you're SOL.
Lest we forget the most important virtual console game of them all: Brain Age Academy. Which is fundamentally necessary to have your wiiU autoboot its jailbreak. The site wiiU hacks will walk you through the entire setup tutorial. (Edit: ds games are no longer necessary for jailbreaking a WiiU now thanks to tiramisu)
It's definitely annoying. We have an external hard drive for this very reason. Would have been nice if they had made a 64 or 100gb model for sure. Cheers!
They did this for the wii the removed the option to add points sometime in 2018 and then the shop closed a couple of months later the eshop for wii u and 3ds is on its last breath

Did the wii shop accept credit cards from memory didn't it only use prepaid cards with a points value attached to each games they didn't have individual dollar value/prices

If gift cards is the only option then it's worth it. And there's some great games for 3DS: - VC games for just a few dollar each - Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 (2nd one never got released for 3DS) The VC games.. you got the Mega Man games for Game Boy, many classic Mario & Zelda games, and much more. So depending on which games you wanna pay for to download and play you truly got some good options. Maybe your balance will go down to a few dollar and not to zero so you will lose a few dollar, but... some games are digital download only and some of the games are too hard to find physical copies for or extremely expensive. There's gift cards with different amount of money so you can buy the cards with smaller amount. Any idea or guess how much longer gift cards will work on eShop for 3DS and Wii U? I mainly buy physical copies of games but VC games are digital downloads only. It's a sad thing that the "eshops" for consoles are shutting down and the older consoles are becoming worthless for online gaming unless you "hack" it if there's any hack available. So now you cannot buy those Mega Man releases for Wii on a Wii. Those games are thankfully available on Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 for Switch (and a few more platforms). So the developer has preserved the games at least. The big problem is when some games (digital download only) will get lost "forever". I feel that I will be fine with shutting down an eShop for an older console if they bring ALL the games to an eShop for a newer console like Switch. I got Wii, 3DS (New 3DS XL) and a Switch btw. Never bought any DS and Wii U. Also I never had N64. So I'm so happy for Super Mario 3D All Stars! Finally a chance to play Super Mario 64! :)
Not 100% sure but I believe you can still use them online to add to your Nintendo account through the website and then make purchases that way. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Demon's Crest and Mighty Final Fight come to mind as the eshop nears closing. I don't think I can find either of those digitally anywhere else and physical copies are up in price...although I'd be tempted if found on nostalgicplanet!! =D Thanks for this little reminder broskis! Cheers.

@@bricago2302 I have a small in size 256g samsung in mine. It might be overkill because it’s nowhere near full, but it’s black and blends in pretty well. You could start smaller and then transfer if you’re starting to fill up.
@@cbrown15n12 Thank you!
If they haven't yet,it ain't happening now
@@NintenDub hence my reluctance to buy on 3DS and WiiU. They are perfectly fine systems to play on, but the Switch is far better for it in my opinion.
Another game to pick up is super Mario advanced 4 super Mario bros 3. It’s 7.99 and it comes with all the additional ereader card levels. I think it about 30 additional levels that will be hard to come by(legally) when the shop closes.
Wii U Eshop only.
Dang, Nintendo really acting like Nintendo switch is their life support
its just how these console cycles go. its rinse and repeat
This was a great video. I am actually scooping up a few ganes on my Wii U and you all gave me a few more things to pick up. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed. Really appreciate the feedback. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
We said “and I’m about to break” at the same time and I laughed so hard. Thanks for that.
Linkin Park hype!!!
Boys Zelda minish cap is another game that is super expensive and is dirt cheap on the eshop! Loved the vid btw!
The credit card thing applies to Japan only.
I don't know, we've seen articles that say across the board Jan 22nd. I guess we'll see. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid what articles are saying that? All I'm seeing is Japan only.
Yep
Well they did say that credit card support was being disabled in Japan and Europe
Thanks for putting another one of these out!! The time is now!! So many great games on the Wii U, and yes it will be the next Saturn style console! I need to get on top of this myself. Cheers dudes! Long live the Wii U!
Another one worth mentioning is EarthBound Beginnings (Mother 1). I think its only release outside of Japan is the one on the Wii U's eShop.
I get that Nintendo is sweeping the WII-U under the rug because it didnt sell well but come on the Wii e-shop lasted 7 to 8 years and they are ending it that quickly what about the people who dont want the switch and bought a WII-U instead......
Time will tell how long they leave the shop open but all signs are pointing to it closing sooner than later. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
Not sure if I can afford right now but I’ll have to keep it in mind.
that was our main purpose was to inform the audience of whats to come. glad we could help cheers
I use a regular external harddrive with just a usb cable. No power cable needed for it either.
@@EDFCentral Yeah, you CAN do that with traditional mechanical externals but let me warn you, sometimes that can go bad during a read/write period and then your data can be compromised. Has happened to me.
I never knew the Wii U supports ssd

I can’t get tired of the rock dropping. I got my XL DS at Fries Electronics in 2017. Love the hand held. The switch online play and apps are odd vs the wii or Wii U
Pfft wii and wii u online were just as garbage
When I heard about the WiiU and 3DS shops closing, I flocked to those shops and bought up every single game I had even mild interest in. I have only a little bit of storage left on both consoles, but I don't care. I have the games on there, and now all I got to do is make sure my WiiU and 3DS don't break.
Same
Come on man! It feels like it was just yesterday that the Wii's Eshop closed officially for good! This is too early 😥
its always to early for them to close but im sure nintendo wants to solely focus on the switch
jeez, for a moment there I thought you guys were saying the shop was closing the 22nd of THIS month.
@@clintbeasthood9758 The store is still up so you should be.
The sales of Metroid fusion 😂😂😂

(Edit: ds games are no longer necessary for jailbreaking a WiiU now thanks to tiramisu)
Wii U’s greatest flaw is the lack of internal memory. So many great games to download and no internal space to store them on.
It's definitely annoying. We have an external hard drive for this very reason. Would have been nice if they had made a 64 or 100gb model for sure. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid is a Y cable which splits so can plug into 2 USB ports if don’t have a self powered external HDD. Love my Wii U, great vid

Will the Nintendo eShop cards still work? I was going to get, devil's 3rd any way. Also this is the first I've heard of the information. Thanks for sharing.

Is Mariokart DS on the wii u eshop split screen multiplayer?
I can’t remember for sure but I don’t think so. Pretty sure I got excited and tried that once.
Will it be possible to buy these eShop gift cards in stores (even in some grocery stores) and use it for 3DS, DS and Wii U after this in January 2022?
Yes, but good luck getting the balance down to $0 after.
If gift cards is the only option then it's worth it. And there's some great games for 3DS:
- VC games for just a few dollar each
- Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 (2nd one never got released for 3DS)
The VC games.. you got the Mega Man games for Game Boy, many classic Mario & Zelda games, and much more.
yeah they will leave the eshop cards in there for a little bit
This may be a stupid question but will you still be able to use Nintendo eShop gift cards on the Wii U after January 2022?
Not 100% sure but I believe you can still use them online to add to your Nintendo account through the website and then make purchases that way. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
It's still open. It was never announced to be closing.
It is open. No closure announcement has been made yet just losing card support at this time

OMG! Devils Third needs to be ported over to Switch. I'd even take digital only at this point. I say this and I do own it on Wii-U.
It would be nice to see a port for sure but I'm not sure there is a ton of demand for it. But we'd like to see it for sure. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
@@GamingOffTheGrid I completely agree about demand. What gets ported these days is super weird. Example: Stubbs the Zombie originally locked to OG XB then in 2021 comes to Switch/PS4/XB1. What in the world!?!?! Yes please :)
@@arcotramathorn8991 yeah there seems to be no standard requirement for anything to come to the Switch which is why we sometimes get really excellent titles such as Shovel Knight as well as some really awful games like Hello Kitty Kruiser.
